Are AP prices going up in March?

I read on another disney board that AP prices are on the rise again and that March will be the month they'll be doing it? Anyone know if this true or not.

I certainly hope not considering they've raised the prices by $50 twice in the last year. I renew in March (technically April, but I mail it in as soon as I get my renewal form in early March) and I'm already chaffing at spending an extra $100.

With the two price increases in this past year, I've decided to downgrade my AP when it comes up for renewal. It seems kind of scary that my annual pass at WDW (thanks to the DVC discount) would now cost less than my AP for DL.

I certainly hope not!! I plan to upgrade my hopper to an AP when we go in July.

Leftcoaster I know what you mean! We had decided to switch to WDW annual passes anyway (and did). Now that we have joined DVC it will definitely be cheaper to go to WDW. Also the fact that the Disneyland Resorts don't offer good deals using points. Still, DH and I are really going to miss our trips to Disneyland. Anybody know why they keep raising prices on the AP's?

Multiple of reasons but one is they just are "to good a value" for the money- ie With the price I paid in 2002 for mine I "paid" for the whole pass in 5 days of going not including the other perks so basically I got 360 free days of going- and this is with a PAP

I think they are trying to balance it a little higher so you need to go more to "pay" for it (Currently its up to almost 8 days) and fewer "free" days.

There isnt any proof yet they will go up but with the current experations dates of vouchers to be mid march- its up for speculation...

Emily has the answer - I read recently that Disney is concerned that the passes are too cheap. This encourages lots of locals to buy them, which also mean they go more often.

A few years back when Disney was struggling this sounded like a good idea. Now the parks are doing well and crowds quite high, they would rather have more overseas and interstate holiday makers paying for 3 and 5 day passes, than locals adding to the crowds effectively for free most days.

Also, as the interstate and overseas tourists are often doing this as the one trip of a lifetime, they are more likely to spend a lote more money in the park on souvenirs etc. So, financially it makes more sense to make it more attractive for them, and more expensive for the APs.
