Are Alligators a Problem at Treehouse Villas?

We are going to stay at THV in September. We wanted a water view if possible. I saw a youtube video today and the bank from the water doesn't seem very steep at all, and there are a lot of plants along the bank so all good spots for alligators to hide. The THV's seem sort of close to the water, and I am just wondering if anyone has seen alligators nearby or on land near the treehouses? I don't want to leave in the morning only to find an alligator waiting at the bottom of the steps! I know to keep the kids away from the water but if we're walking along the path...I'm really excited about the THV, so I don't really want to worry about this if I shouldn't.

I have never seen any alligators in that area. I have seen them at WL and BLT but they are scared of people and get back in the water if anyone wanders near (though I would never wander near an alligator). Since it is Florida, I assume all water could have snakes or alligators so I exercise caution but not fear.

You are as likely to see an alligator at the Treehouse Villas as you would anywhere else on Disney property. I've been to Disney World about 60 times and have seen one alligator. That was at the Beach Club and he was happily sunning himself in the water between the resort and the parking lot.

I really wouldn't worry about it.

When I was a kid, we stayed there in the early 80s and I remember worrying about it.

I worry more about snakes in all the water lakes around the various properties. That's a reason I don't like a ground floor - fear. Yes, I know it's a fear not a reality.

We were told by one of the water taxi captains that go from POFQ to DTD that they very seldom see gaters in the river do to the amount of boat traffic.

I'm the same way As irrational as it may be alligators don't frighten me but I'm terrified of running into a venomous snake. My kids aren't going to accidently step on an alligator.....although my oldest is pretty absent-minded so anythings possible!

Alligators and water moccasins are native to Florida and have been there all along, but most people don't ever realize it. As a pp stated, these animals will usually always stay away from humans as much as possible. It's up to guests to be aware of there surroundings and not do things like 'let your kids play by the edge of the water' etc. It's certainly not something that should prevent or spoil a trip; they want to stay away from us as much as we want to stay away from them. I think staying in the THV would be great!
