We're not Park Hopping people - we stick with one park per day. I can't find non-Park Hopper tickets for Disneyland, though. Don't they have non-PH tickets like Disney World does?

As far as I know the only non PH tickets are for 1 day. All multiday tickets come with the PH.

I never PH while at WDW but DLR is totally different. Since the parks are right across from each other park hopping takes maybe 10 minutes; you start the day at DL, park hop to DCA when the crowds get larger and then go back to DL later that evening.

I would even say hopping is less than 10 min. From one gate to other takes only a minute or two to walk. I agree with the DL- DCA- DL format. Often we will go back and forth several times a day picking up FPs for each park as soon as we get there. At DLR most people don't do only one park a day. Once you are there, you will see how nice it is.

Oh trust me, once you get there and see how close together the parks are you will want to hop. :) They are about the length of a football apart, a quick walk will get you from park to park in about 5 min. And that time includes getting your hand stamped and getting thru the gates of the other park. :)

DLR only offers single day single park tickets for single day use, all tickets over 1 day are automatically hoppers.

Not to mention, considering the size of the parks, it's possible to get a good day's worth in at each while hopping. At least if you go the speed that I do. Which isn't rushing, mind you.

Just want to add to the ~ why not hop-ers - we hop each and every day *(we won't be hopping *probably @ WDW next month) We'll be hopping at DLR this Sun. Mon & Tues.!

This causes me to think. I see people with the WDW point of view come over to DLR and think in terms of one day at each park. So, when I think of going to WDW (never been) I can't imagine not park hopping! I'm sure when we'll go we will get park hoppers because I don't want to be tied down to one park for an entire day. What if we decide we want to go somewhere else? Now, I'm probably looking at WDW with DLR eyes. :rotfl: Yes, I realize parkhopping there involves 20 different modes of transportation, but still... See, it is hard to adjust your thinking.

Very good point, PinkBudgie! It is hard to adjust your point of view.

We took our granddaughter (plus of course step-son and daughter-in-law) to WDW last year (her first visit to any Disney Park). I bought us 8 day park hoppers with water park option -- the full boat. The folks on the WDW board recommended buying the non-hoppers, and then adding on the hopping option if needed. But like you, I couldn't imagine not hopping.

Of course, you know what happened. Did the park a day routine, and never hopped. It's just too inconvenient at WDW. Had a great time, but I basically paid $50/ticket too much (times 5 tickets).

Moral of the story - take the advice of the WDW experts. Buy non-hoppers, and then add-on if you decide to hop.

We got park hoppers at WDW too, for the same reason: we didn't want to be tied down to one park. (there's that DLR mindset again!) The pass also included DisneyQuest and the water parks and we went to DisneyQuest several different nights after spending a day at the various parks. I think we also hopped one or two other times. So we did hop some (especially if you include DisneyQuest as hopping) but not nearly as much as we do at DLR.

There are some advantages to parkhopping at WDW. But there are a lot of disadvantages. Here are some:

1. It is time consuming - can take an hour out of your day

2. FPs - since you cannot hop back to the original park without an additional lost time you cannot use FPs very efficiently. Say you go to MK and get a FP for Splash that has a return time of 6PM. If you hop to Epcot at 3PM you will not be able to use that Splash FP unless you hop back to MK later that day. Also, hopping to Epcot means you are hopping to a park where you have no FPs and there may be none left. At DLR you can hop back and forth so easily you can get full use of FP at both parks.

3. Shorter park hours - AK and DHS tend to have short park hours. Even Epcot closes at 9PM every night. With the parks so far apart it is seems too hard to hop later in the night. If you finish at Epcot at 9:30 after Illuminations is it really worth it to go up to MK and get there by maybe 10PM so you can have one hour before it closes at 11PM? At DLR the hopping is so easy you can justify hopping into DLR later at night. That means at DLR it is easier to get in more park hours with less wasted time. At WDW it is often just not worth the hassle.

Advantages of hopping at WDW include dining flexibility and entertainment flexibility.
