We would like to eat there for lunch our next trip and wondered if you have to request a savannah view table? Are there always animals present to see?

Most of the tables face the windows. Some tables are right at the windows, while others are just behind the tables at the windows. Pretty much all the tables have a view of the savannah.

Some tables are "inside" the glassed in area. When you check in you can request a window view. They can't promise it but they will try to get you as close to a window as possible. The animals are free roaming so you could see a lot of them or you could see nothing. It just depends on where they are on the savannah while you are eating.

There are some tables where you can't see the window at all - we sat in one last year. When we wanted to get a table near the window - we had an ADR for when it first opened for dinner. We got there early and requested one. We love Sanaa.

Hope it's ok to hop on this thread with a follow up question...is there any animals to see on the savannah after dark? Any lights? We have a 7:15pm reservation in January.

It really depends on a lot of factors but they do have to take the animals to their beds at night so the later it gets, the less chance you are going to see anything. In January, it's going to be dark by 7:15 so I'm going to say that most of the big deal animals like the giraffes might be already put in.

We went in the evening in January when it was dark and couldn't see anything. Food was still great, though! (And to be honest, it was a miserable rainy day so we left the parks early and spent several hours at the bar before our reservation so by the point in time, we didn't care too much about views...we just wanted that delicious bread service!)
