Are all Disney Sequels bad?

We just rented "Return to NeverLand" because we always see the trailer for it at the beginning of another movie we own and it looked like it might be good.

Wow! Was it a stinker! The main character Jane (Wendy's Daughter) was so obnoxious and Peter was annoying!
I was greatful that I used a free coupon to rent it and it didn't cost anything.

When Mulan II came out on DVD I bought it because my DstepD loves Mulan. Again it was pretty bad.

So my question is, are any of the sequels out there worth seeing? I always get sucked into the Hunchback II trailer at the beginning of another movie we own. And the new Cinderella III coming out in 2007 looks cool too.

Simba's Pride was not TOO bad, but I think you'd have to be a real LK fan to think so. However, LK 1 1/2 was a riot and if you can say "oh well" to a couple of continuity issues, I think was worth seeing. Bambi II was gorgeously done - they definitely spent a TON of time studying the original animation and backgrounds! - but a bit too hip for my tastes. I'm renting Brother Bear II before buying it for sure.

In my opinion, the sequels NEVER match the quality of the original movie. I don't think they put as much time and talent in those straight to DVD movies. Just my perception. Still doesn't keep me from buying and watching them!

But the Pixar/Disney sequal is great- Toy Story II

Did you see Brother Bear has a sequal comeing out? Yikes. The first one was a stinker, why would anyone make a second one?

Princess Diaries 2 was a good sequel.

Mulan 2 to me was a good one.

I liked 101 dalmations II, patches london adventure and lion king 1 1/2 is AWESOME!

I personally liked Toy Story 2 even better than the original! I also liked Princess Diaries 2 as well. Lion King 2 was pretty good, not a total stinker but not as good as the original. I also enjoyed Beauty & the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas. The ultimate best Disney sequel, however, is Pirates of the Caribbean 2!!!

Most of the others were not very well done...I think they're just trying too hard to make the older movies more popular with the younger generation or something...

I enjoyed the Lion King sequels as well. Curious though, how is this a theme park attraction and/or strategy?

I liked Little Mermaid 2 - I thought that was a good one; and Toy Story 2(yea Jessie!!). As for my least favorites, those would be Pocahontas 2 (come on now - why?) and Return of Jafar.

Yes, I agree, Princess Diaries 2 and Pirates 2 - great sequels. I guess I was only thinking of animated movies.

the only direct to video sequels that i have found that were of any great quality are the ones that i see having the ability to be theatricaly released are.

Lilo and Stitch 2

Bambi 2 however i liked it's workign title ( Bambi and the Great Prince) better.

Lion king 2 and 1 1/2( or 3 for you UK folks)


those are about the only ones i think.

Disney has turned our more than a few animated sequels in the last few years that are in my opinion, Junk! Hopefully, we've seen the end of them now, with Bob Iger at the helm. I would hope too that with John Lassiter overseeing the animation department, he would have some control of this too.

Although everyone is entitled to their own opinion, you're likely in the minority with that one, considering the records already broken and the amount of cash that film continues to bring in. However, I hope the 3rd one takes it to the next level also.
