Are ages on your key/FOTL pass?

Planning a trip for an extended family group. One family will have 3 daughters with them, two of whom are well over 17. They want to book it as all 3 of the girls under 17 and that makes me uncomfortable.

Other than ethically, will it be a problem?

Ages will be put on all kids' cards. I would think there would be some suspicion if the girls all have the same last name and are all 17. I would think there would be no suspicion if they are 17 but all have different last names. Kids very often bring along friends.

Nobody asks for ID and no comparisons are made between park ticket names and hotel key names.

Thanks for the info. I'll give them the information and ultimately, it's their decision. I hope they choose to cough up the extra $50 a night since the two older girls do not look 17!

I would not take the chance. If they just turned 18 or looked young then maybe.

If you go to any high school these days, you'd swear half the kids were in their 20's. IMHO it is impossible to tell ages between about 15 and 25. I really don't get this extra charge in the room. As long as the occupancy rate is obeyed, there should only be one charge. It is just another money grab by Disney and Universal.

Disney and Universal are not the only ones that charge for more than 2 adults in a room - all hotels do. My personal opinion would be to just tell the correct ages and pay the extra. If they are worried about saving the extra person charge for budget reasons, then maybe they should wait a little longer to go. Guess its just not in my nature to try and play the system.

Not all hotels do. Lots of the discount chains don't. And lots of the deluxe chains in less desirable locations don't. When you book they just ask for how many guests per room.

It is especially silly because you can't even book a Loews hotel until you are 21. So they don't consider you an adult until you are 21 but they want to charge you as an adult when you are 18

It is also silly that they don't give you a discount when there is only 1 person in a room.

You are correct!

Sometimes they are in parentheses or just the number after the name.

I dont remember my age ever being on that card.

They have A for adult, C for child, N for no room charging, I believe a * or blank space for room charging, and of course if its a child their age.

I have a big stack of cards from all of our trips that we save.

One other thing they need to consider, if they book a package including airfare at all they will be asked the birthdates for each one for the airline involved and that would then transfer to the hotel package. Some how I don't think I would want to try and fool with the airlines and what could happen there.

Just as an aside, Loews doesn't keep any age information on file unlike Disney who always knows the ages of your kids from past visits.

I think if you are booking a package, the TA will automatically give you the room price including any upcharges.

The last time we checked in at Portofino, the person checking in beside me asked for an extra key for their adult daughter who would be joining them the next day. The teller had no issues whatsoever and just printed one out for them. I don't think they are that picky.
