Are adults eligible for DAS?

I live in Fl. So only visit the parks when it's not busy and don't wait in any line over about 15-20min. because I absolutely hate being trapped in by people where I feel I can't escape. I have a rather large personal space bubble which people in lines tend not to have any regard to. The general theme seems to be "the closer I stand to the person in front of me, the quicker I'll get to the front"

I usually don't put myself in situations where it's packed because I get stressed and don't have so much fun. However, someone close to me wants to go to DL the week between xmas and new year for their bday.

I know crowds will be unavoidable. So I was wondering if adults can get the DAS? It seems most questions are for children or elderly adults.

I normally manage without extra accommodation that I don't create on my own (like paying for extra personal space on airplanes) but I believe that being able to wait off in a corner somewhere where I can escape rather than a stuffed line would make the trip significantly more enjoyable.

Any thoughts/advice welcome

Adults can and do receive a das card.

I would be one such middle aged adult.

It simply depends on your needs-and how wdw can accommodate them. :)

Yes, adults can get them, anyone who's need is met by waiting outside the queue area can get one. However, if you were to get one, I'm not sure that a DAS would help much in your situation. The DAS would allow you to wait off to the side for the length of the normal queue wait, but then you'd still have to go into the FP line, where the same "line behaviors" happen. You'll still be in a line - just a shorter one, but you'd still have people in front and people behind.

If you stand in front of your friend, you can leave the space you need in front of you and she can give you the space you need behind you. You won't be able to control space side to side but would this work for you?

I have one and it was an easy process. This is my first time using it I love it

Yes. I know that you still have to go through the fast pass line and yes those same behaviors happen. There is a huge difference in my ability to tolerate it for 20min vs. 1hr+

I thought this is precisely what the DAS was for? For people who can't wait the length of the entire queue in the queue. By your logic I'm not sure who the DAS would help...

Yes, I try to do this anyway. However, it doesn't prevent the trapped feeling that results from being stuck in the line for long periods of time.

It sounds like it shouldn't be too much of an issue to get one which is great news.

You need to make sure you have realistic expectations of how much personal space you are going to get outside of lines. DL is cozier in general than WDW and you are going during one of the busiest weeks of the year. You are going to encounter crowded areas everywhere - restrooms, shops, restaurants. Make sure you have several coping mechanisms in place because you will find yourself in crowds.

It is for that: People who can't wait in the traditional queue. I didn't say you probably wouldn't get one, you probably would, but I was just pointing that it may not entirely remove the problems you have in a regular line. :) some fast pass lines are 15 minutes - it does happen.

Oh I expect that, especially during the time of year I'll be there. Just looking for a little relief anywhere I can to help minimize as much as I can!

Thanks!

I have not been to DL since I was little, but have been to WDW multiple times during the week between Christmas and New Years. At any park, it is basically so full that it is not possible most of the time to stretch your arm fully out in any direction without touching someone. At times, we really could not go where we wanted to go, but had to just go in the direction. where the crowd was moving.
Since you say you usually go to WDW during non-busy times, i wanted to put that out there so you csn picture it.

As was mentioned, everything at DL is much more compact, so people are packed in even tighter. The lines are narrower at DL and the spaces are much closer. So, even with using DAS, you may find conditions outside of lines to be very similar yo whAt it is like IN lines at WDW

I agree. Disney World between Christmas and New Years is very busy. At Disneyland it feels even more busy and crazy crowded. Disneyland only has two parks within walking distance of each other and is smaller in scale so everything is much more cramped when busy.

I have done both but would not do Disneyland at that time of year again and I do not have issues with my health or crowds.

The red in the quote above is concerning for your potential trip for one reason--everywhere you go, every store, every walkway, is going to be like "being stuffed in a line"--honestly, even worse than you imagine, during the time that you plan to visit. The lines for rides are the least of your worries!

If I were you, I would say, "Thanks, but no thanks" and visit with your friend somewhere else.....
