My parents will be in Disney for a convention 2/3 - 2/10. I'm usually with them and plan all our meals, itinerary, etc. They will be at Coronado Springs for the first 1/2 and then Boardwalk villas for 4 days. They want to just walk into Epcot and stop for lunch or dinner. Is it neccessary at this time of year to make ADR's or can 2 people find a place open to eat?

We were in WDW last week and we heard several people ask about walk-ins. Each time the hostess quoted 30-45 minutes wait. So, walk-ins were being accepted, but not without a wait.

We saw empty tables in most of the restaurants we dined in, including the ones that were quoting the wait. I think they must be staffed to match the attendance levels, so I'd say "yes" ADRs are still probably needed.

It depends on where you want to eat. If you want to sit down at many of the places you will need ADRs - if you want the less popular - Nine Dragons, Marakesh, and San Angels you may be able to walk up with little wait. You will have less of a wait for a late lunch than anything else.

my mom and brother were there this past week and couldn't get into garden grill all week!!!!

I would never hold my breath for a restaurant like Garden Grill or Le Cellier... those are booked way in advance - hard to get even several months in advance!

Places we have walked up to (during summer and/or free dining periods) without much wait are Nine Dragons, Biergarten, and San Angel. Of those three, our family's preference is probably Nine Dragons. You may be able to get some other restaurants, but like someone said, you'd probably have a wait. You could always check for availability at Guest Relations in Epcot earlier in the day.

You could also go out the back entrance of Epcot to try some places that don't take reservations. Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club is popular, so you'll probably have a wait, but they don't take ADRs. ESPN & Big River Grill at the Boardwalk also don't take ADRs. You can walk to any of these places from Epcot. You'd probably have a huge wait trying to get into ESPN Club on Super Bowl Sunday, however. ;)

If we can't get our first pick, we always do a later ADR for a plan B. Then, we try walking up to our first pick. If they don't do walk ups, then we head for our ADR. Its so easy to make an ADR- why not have one just incase?
