Has anyone had any experience with archery? (olympic type -not hunting).
My 8 y.o. DD has enjoyed it at day camp and is interested in lessons.

I had a PE course in archery. It was pretty fun. I know in our old town there was a class you could take through the park and rec department. I also know it was illegal to do archery within city limits if that makes a difference.

my brother does Archery. He is really good at it and wins alot of tornaments. He even has 2 sponsors. They buy him all his equiptment and and all he needs to do is wear their shirts and use their equipment ( they are both archery companies) I would suggest calling a local hunting/archery store and see who they recommend.

I don't know whether my reply will be of any interest, but my kids also enjoy archery (also picked it up at daycamp!) They don't take lessons, however. We purchased a "Jr" size archery set from Cabelas (an outdoors shop). And set up a target on wheels using 2 bales of straw and whatever paper target we can come up with. Some are purchased, some are designed by them. Only rule is *no people-shaped targets*

If you can't find lessons, I'd think at 8 years old it would be enough for the kiddo just to practice in the backyard, or wherever, if possible.
