Archeologists find possible proof of Jesus' existence

I found this to be an extraordinary article.

I wonder why this private collector has chosen now to allow the ossuary to be examined by an biblical archeologist.

And I do agree with the final statement. If this box is found to be authentic, it should be held for pubic viewing in a museum.

Very interesting article!!!

I thought pretty much everyone knew that Jesus lived (even atheists & followers of other religions), the only debate is about him being the Messiah.

jeff, i know of at least one person on the db who doens't believe jesus existed. LOL ;)

i think most people do believe that he existed though.

Very interesting!!

I had always thought that Jesus had a brother. However, a few months ago, DH and I had a discussion about this, and DH says that Mary, mother of Jesus, remained a virgin her entire life, and therefore, Jesus had no siblings.

I'll have to show this to him . . .

Deb -

Most Christians believe that Mary had no other children. James, Brother of the Lord, is generally believed to be a child of Joseph from a previous marriage.

actually TF - many christians do believe Mary had other children. i think it's catholic doctrine that Mary remained virginal throughout her life, but i'm not sure.

I agree with Jeff....and I'm not saying anything else!

Actually, 2 years ago DH and I went to germany to see the Passion Play at Oberammergau, and they showed Jesus' brother throughout the play. My understanding is that the Passion Play at Oberammergau is fairly close to Biblically correct.

Make that two. I'm agnostic. Also, have any of you ever taken into consideration the idea that a man named Jesus may have once lived, but he was never actually the son of God?

Actually, MANY, MANY people do, Roque.

They are called Jews and Muslims.

actually muslims DO believe in Jesus.

Well, either way. I think it's safe to say that we'll never truly know.

Just a few thoughts here:

Number One:
Well, either way. I think it's safe to say that we'll never truly know.

Truth is, one day we WILL know. Hopefully, you (generic) won't have to explain why you thought otherwise.

Number Two:
This is from the first chapter of the book of Matthew vs. 24 and 25

24When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord commanded. He brought Mary home to be his wife,25but she remained a virgin until her son was born. And Joseph named him Jesus.

Emphasis mine.

Truth is we won't know, truth is we will know.

How about ,One day we may know.

Jenz didn't post a debate topic, just some insightful info.
