Does FW have an arcade? Are most games a quarter? I'm trying to estimate how much of their spending money the kids will use at the arcade. Well, how much I will LET them use there.:)

There are two arcades at FW - one by the meadows pool and another behind Crockett's tavern (the smaller of the two arcades). Pretty sure the games are more than a quarter, but it has been a while since I was there with my son.

Ahh, a topic after my own heart. As FtWildernessGuy mentioned, there are two arcades at the Fort. The one by Crockett's tavern is back in the corner, and is rather small, with maybe 10-15 games total. There is a second level with a few arcade games, but most are on the bottom level. It is not much larger than a very large walk in closet...lol.

The arcade by the Meadows trading post is located in the pool area, it is larger and has a wider selection.

Most games haven't been a quarter at Disney for a while now. And that's not just Disney, that's arcades in general. Most of the games will run 50 cents to a dollar, although the "cheaper" arcade will be the one by Crockett's Tavern. It actually still has a couple quarter games (Ms Pacman and a rather fun old style baseball game).

I remember when I was a kid we used to save up all our money to visit the arcades while we were at Disney. The Contemporary arcade was our favorite, it is the largest one in Disney. Well, that is, it was, but now they are moving it to the 4th floor and removing a large part of my early Disney history, which I'm not happy about :(

We used to be able to take our 20 bucks and make it last for hours while our parents enjoyed the Top of the World at the Contemporary. Now, 20 bucks MIGHT last you an hour :/ Of course, depending on what games they want to play. If they want to play the newest games, it's going to cost more, and the money is going to go faster, since the gameplay time is about the same as if they spent a quarter on one of the older games.

Hey, don't you have high score on the Ms Pac Man machine? I could swear I saw Colson39 on it.

I've put high scores in on arcade machines at Disney since I was probably 6-7years old. The coolest thing in the world would be to see one from when I was a kid...lol. If anyone ever plays a game and sees the initials CSO on it, that might be me!!! ;)

Thanks for the answers :) I didn't think the machines would be a quarter, but I just had to ask. What's life without dreams, ya know? :)

I have visions of you spotting this machine at FW with your high score on it, buying it off of Disney, hiring some shady electrician to rig up some batteries to hold the memory and trying to get it to your campsite ala George Costanza.

muahhaa, I MUST PRESERVE MY FROGGER SCORE!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I must admit. I spend 10 to 12 dollars at MK on that dang Ferrari 355 challenge game just to put up best times at Monza, Long beach, and Suzuka.
BCH thats me

:happytv: Loved that episode!

You would think they would have Tron in all the arcades around property, but I've only seen it at Disney Quest. Are there any other places that have it? I would love to put the high score on that one. DH gave me the actual game on our 1st anniversary and we still play it

The last time I saw the actual Tron game in a resort was about 9 years ago at the Contemporary. I grew up on that game back in the 80's, I can't tell you how many quarters I put into it.

If I remember correctly, Disney Quest still has the Tron game in their "Classic Game" section, so you might be able to find it there.

Ugh, the amount of times I tried turning my light car right to cut off the computer car, even in the Fort arcades, I can't even count...lol

On my trip a week or so ago we visited the game room at the Contemporary and it has been moved upstairs. To put it simply...It is a real disappointment. I remember when my childres were younger (and myself) the Contemporary game room was a must. I have no idea why they moved it but it is smaller and does not have the games it use to have. The old spot is just boarded up. I am sre they are doing something with the old space but not sure what. In addition, the game room at the Contemporary does not take quarters. You use like a debit card that has an amount of money on it. Alot of the good games were $1.50 also. Some were still $1.00. I would assume FW has some $1.50 games also but I am not sure if they use the new debit type card system or they are still on the old slot type games.

Kahuna, when you say small, can you give more a description of how "small" it is?

I can't believe I'm never going to see the arcade on the bottom floor again. Today is truly a sad day in my Disney history :(

As far as Ft. Wilderness arcade using the cards, this was reported on Mouseplanet:

This week's listing of interesting items from paperwork filed with Orange County in the last week:

"Electrical work is taking place at the Meadows Arcade, Pioneer Hall and the Bike Barn at Fort Wilderness for a "cashless arcade" project."

The small arcade actually fills the store that was on the 4th floor , under the monarail platform. The old arcade is going to be the newhome the concorse steakhouse. It is sad to see how small they have made it. It does seems almost temporary. I wonder if they will renonvate the entire 4th floor.

Michelle is correct. I would guess it is about half the size of the old arcade..give or take.
