I just remembered I was going to warn people, do not put the your arcade card near your KTTW card. When DH took DS up to ESPN to play the basketball game he did this. They de-magnitized each other. The arcade card was rendered worthless and we could not open our safe anymore. After a day he could not open the door even. (we got a new card) so keep them apart!

For our 3 day last year our kids had the lanyards that the kttw card hooked onto. We wanted to get the kids the arcade card but were very busy doing other things. We planon getting the kids each an arcade card for our upcoming 7 day in March. The younger kids usually don't have pockets. What is the best way to keep the 2 cards apart if they can't be hooked together?

I am not positive but I think my husband's problem was that when he stuck both in his pocket the KTTW card's magnetic strip was up against the arcade card's one (which I think is on both sides-not sure on that one) I would think that if you put the KTTW card in back (with the magnetic strip towards your body) and the arcade card in front they would not touch strips, but to be honest I don't know. I would ask disney upon arrival because it definately ruined both the arcade and the KTTW card when they were together.

The machine in the arcade that dispenses the card says to keep the cards apart. I believe there are signs posted around arcade too. My kids just kept them in different pockets since they didn't have (or want to wear) the lanyards.

figures my husband didn't read the signs :)

Since we didn't even visit the arcade last time I am wondering if the games take quarters, tokens only or just a arcade card?

Just the arcade card. There is a "change" machine that you insert your KTTW card into & it gives you an arcade card with a pre-set amt. All of the arcade machines are set up with a slot for the card instead of coin slots & automatically deduct the cost of the game from your card.

Well that helps clear things up. Thanks for info. Guess the girls with no pockets might need to use 2 lanyards. 1 for the kttw card and 1 for the arcade card. Our kids didn't have a problem with the lanyards on our last cruise. (They had the ones with a clip that went thought the card)
For our next cruise we have bought the new ones that have a clear pocket on a hook for the kttw card. They can use the old one from our last cruise for the arcade card.

Actually, I would suggest a few things. First lock the room safe with a charge card, not the kttw. The kttw has always been a risk for being demagnetized, for as long as I can remember. And it's no risk to your charge card as there's no way to get the code back out of the safe. When putting any cards with magentic strips in your pocket/wallet, always put them in opposite rotation to each other, not just with the strips facing away from each other. They can still demag thru the thickness of the card. I have also heard the eelskin wallets can adversely affect some magnetic strips.

Another arcade card suggestion.....As soon as it is purchased, put your name on it in BIG BOLD LETTERS. My son set his down as he was looking at the game, went to put it in the slot and someone had stolen it that quickly. He was devistated. Your name won't keep people who aren't honest honest, but at least it is easily spotted if the thief uses it when you are in the room.

I think our little cardboard sleeves for cards said to keep the arcade and KTTW cards seperated. You can get extra sleeves from guest services to keep the cards apart.

We got our dd the lanyard with the the h20 proof case that clips shut, not the plastic slip in type and it worked great. We kept her KTTWC and Arcade card in there back to back and never had a problem.

The only problem we had was with the air hockey game that ate my dd's card after one game! Went to guest services and they issued another card for her - cm was so nice to my dd who was visibily (sp?) upset - even gave her an extra $5 on the card. We have the card with about a couple bucks on it and will be bringing it back with us next Dec.
