Arbitrator rules against T.O., upholds suspension

Justice is served. I can't think of anyone more deserving of suspension than that clown.

Hopefully this will shut this loser and his agent Drew Rosenhaus up. They are both pomopous jerks.

I still think TO stinks, but the Eagles should have to release him after the four game suspension. Anything else is the Eagles trying to go against what was agreed upon during the league wide collective bargaining negotiations.

If somebody is willing to take TO on, they should be willing to do so.

If TO is forced to sit the rest of the season there will be more to this later (lawsuits). He will argue the Eagles impacted his ability to get a contract next year buy breaking the collective bargaining agreement. The Eagles will lose.

Isn't this the same thing that Tampa did with Keyshawn Johnson though? Or was the newest collective bargaining agreement done after that situation?

It is roughly the same things the Bucs did with Meshawn, but the better parallel may be the Bucs arbitration victory over salary holdout Keenan McCardell. Teams are starting to win arbitrations. And MaCardell was not even the jerk that TO is. Rosenhaus will hopefully also be discredited. TO's conduct was inexcusable

I am so surprised and glad that the Eagles won this case. It's about time that T.O. has to pay the consequences for his actions. Just because he has an incredible amount of talent does not give him the right to do or say whatever he wants.

The Eagles are completely justified in their actions, as he was truly a cancer to that business organization. T.O. may try to sue, but he'll lose because of what he did. He should also fire his agent for not helping him stay out of this mess by talking some sense into him.

One more thing to be thankful for! Now a perfect Christmas present would be Rosenhaus's cell phone ringing constantly with his clients calling to fire him. Then all will be well with the world.

Everything I posted is based on what I heard from my buds at the local sports radio station. I trust they got it right. They specifically mentioned the Meshawn ( :rotfl2: ) case as what the new agreement supposedly prevented.

I'm all for teams being able to bust the troublemakers, but I agree there has to be limits since not every case is as one sided as TO's. Sounded like TO had a case if he pointed to the new agreement.

Maybe not. The idea is that if he is that bad, they should be forced to cut him loose. I disagree with what TO did, but he would be right that the Eagles should not be able to do any more than fire him.

Gotcha -- I wasn't sure of my timeline (in my own head, absent the assistance of sports talk :teeth: ). Thanks for the confirmation. If that's the case, then yeah, I'll be surprised if they're not forced to cut him. Keep in mind, the ruling today was just whether or not the 4 game suspension without pay will stand. I'd imagine there will be a new arbitration over the rest of the suspension.

He's not being fired. He's being deactivated. He's suspended without pay for the four games. For the remainder the Eagles are paying him. The can keep him from playing for someone else. Imagine if all he had to do to hook up with a winner was to be corrosive.

Sit down and wait for next year.

The Truth About T.O. for those who care:

We pine for the truth, but searching for it requires more effort than most are willing to expend. The truth often lies between spin and speculation, demanding the opening of one's mind to other possibilities before rendering judgment. As a nation, we're more close-minded now than we were 40 years ago, yet we howl about a lack of in-your-face, damn-the-consequences directness
from those who govern, inform and even entertain us. Many people consider Terrell Owens a jerk because he speaks up and dares to tell his teammates, his employers and his supporters exactly what he thinks. Owens' honesty is construed as selfish or even stupid by those with an unyielding point of view. Truth is, the Philadelphia Eagles are as much to blame for what is quickly becoming a wasted season for the defending NFC champs -- yet Owens is viewed as the lone villain. Why? Because it's easy, requiring little thought. Owens asked that his contract be renegotiated -- it wasn't -- then had run-ins with the coach and teammates. The immediate public reflex in these matters is that millionaire athletes should
shut up and play. But T.O. could play for me any day. With him, there's no ambiguity -- you know what you're getting. There wouldn't be any sideline "miscommunications" with him as supposedly was the case with Steve Mariucci and receiver Roy Williams at Minnesota. And while Owens is under suspension by the Eagles for four games, at least he hasn't been suspended for flunking a third drug test like Charles Rogers. But T.O. and the Lions wouldn't be a good marriage because the Lions want nothing to do with the truth. It wouldn't surprise anyone if somewhere within the bowels of the Lions' Allen Park asylum, Mariucci and quarterback Jeff Garcia are chuckling at the unraveling of Owens' reputation. Owens didn't hide his
disdain for Mariucci or Garcia during their stay in San Francisco. And although some of the personal attacks Owens made against the pair were out of bounds, his assessment of Mariucci's overly conservative offensive philosophy seems dead-on now, doesn't it? T.O. was right about Mooch, but those opinions were dismissed at the time as the rantings of a megalomaniac who talks because he loves the sound of his voice. There's no question that he rubs some the wrong way, but that doesn't mean his opinions are devoid of all substance. But that demands a willingness to think outside of the box. You want the "truth" about the NFL? There are no multi-year contracts, only heavily frontloaded one-year deals. Teams can release
players in a heartbeat if they believe he has underperformed, so why is it sacrilege for a player to demand a contract renegotiation if he's played well? The Eagles blew this one from the start. Their management flaunts its abhorrence of renegotiation. They've traded others who have challenged that philosophy, but they weren't going to move Owens because, if they did, it would mean T.O. would have won. They couldn't handle a player rising up and staying true to the courage of his convictions, regardless of the consequences. T.O. lost only money. The Eagles lost a season. There's a good chance Owens can financially recoup much of what he has lost, but the Eagles have only so many chances to win a Super
Bowl. Donovan McNabb doesn't get this year back. It's gone. The physical punishment the players will absorb this season pushes them one year closer to the end of their careers. But Philly management doesn't care because, in its mind, the players remain disposable commodities. Anyway, it's just easier making T.O. the bad guy.

This was a very interesting artical that my DH sent me to read. I really don't see T.O. as a bad guy. Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents.

If Philly did anything wrong it was taking this guy on in the first place given his history. But the Eagles can argue that his pitch was that he was going to be happy with McNabb and Co.

After that it has been all TO, he made sure of it. If he wasn't attracting attention to himself in the media he was disrespecting teammates on the sidelines or off the field.

He did change, he got worse.

-Todd Marinovich-QB-Just last month the Artist Formerly Known as Robo-QB was arrested in a public bathroom with a bent spoon and a syringe. What better guy to lead this team?
-O.J Simpson-RB-Accused of double murder.
-Lawrence Phillips-RB-Arrested too many times to count, a washout in both the NFL and the CFL. He knows more about battery charges than the manufacturers of DieHard and the Energizer bunny combined. He’s beaten every girlfriend he ever had and once punched a woman in the face after she refused to dance with him at a Miami night club. While at Nebraska, in what may be his most famous carry, he was accused of breaking into his ex’s room, dragging her by the hair down three flights of stairs, and jacking her head against a mailbox.
-Rae Carruth-WR-Guilty of the most heinous crime in the history of the NFL (remember, OJ was acquitted), Carruth is an obvious choice. He orchestrated the execution-style murder of his pregnant girlfriend because she refused to have an abortion.
-Michael Irvin-WR-With all the cocaine he’s done in his life, he could probably chalk the entire Texas Stadium field.
-Barret Robbins-OL-Previously best known for disappearing the night before Oakland's Super Bowl thrashing in 2003, Robbins trumped that the following year by attacking three police officers who, being armed, shot him twice in the chest. Police reports indicate that even after being shot Robbins continued to attack the officers.
-Nate Newton-OL-Newton was a shoe-in for his team when he got busted in Louisiana with 213 pounds of marijuana after being pulled over for a traffic violation (who breaks traffic laws with a van full of drugs?), but then he made a serious case to become a team captain six weeks later when, while out on bail, he got busted again. This time it was 175 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of his car.
-Chris Terry-OL-Arrested for wife beating in 2002. While that’s nothing new in the NFL, it is worth noting that in this instance he slammed her into a wall, head-butted her and stuffed her face into a pillow – while their two children watched.

I have more, but the point I am trying to make is that I would take T.O. and his antics any day over any of these players if I had to chose. T.O has never been arrested for anything. He is one of the most hated players for only speaking out against his teammates and wanting more money. Sad.

But if you listen to players (and former players) they say that outside of being suspended, those terrble folks didn't hurt their team. Many players have said that what TO has done to the Eagles is worse (in their opinion) than other players with off the field problems.

As fans we see the the criminals as being worse, but as player to team, TO is worse. What happens on the field, sidelines, and locker room is supposed to stay there. For whatever reason, TO doesn't get that.

Well said! Hey...this may be the first time I agreed with you! Anyhow, you make a perfect case. Criminals don't tear the heart out of team the way Owens and Moss do. Chad Johnson is next.

He is one of the most hated players for only speaking out against his teammates and wanting more money. Sad.

You know that's not true. He's not hated for wanting more money. He's hated for wanting more money while UNDER CONTRACT. In fact, acontract he just signed a year earlier. With a team he demanded to be traded to. (Remember, he wouldn't go to Baltimore.) That is what fans have an issue with, nothing more, nothing less. If he's a Free Agent and demands $100 Million, that's up to him. Fans, especially NFL fans, just don't accept a player sitting out and/or complaining about a contract a player signed under his own free will.

I am very surprised that this decision was made. Professional sports have completely turned me off with people like him with an attitude like the world should bow down to me since I am so good and there are no expressions of gratitude to have a life style he enjoys. Back in the late 50s, players earned about 8,000 dollars a year and had to have full time jobs in the off season to support their families and the players today don't appreciate what they have in comparison to those times.
