Hi

I am thinking of hiring a cabana in Aquatica - i know is $150 for 4 and an extra $30 per person up to 7
Do you think this is good value for the convenience of having your own specific "base" with fridge, locker and seating with the shade of the tent?
Has anyone used these as yet? Heard anything about them?

Any info would be appreciated .......... thanks x

hi

we go in july and i looked at these but there is 8 of us going so it works out expensive.
i think i could still be persaded to change my mind if i hear any good reviews.

Hi, we've booked one for our wedding anniversary in May (unfortunately ours is $175 as the price rises after Memorial day for the summer!!) There is only 4 of us so we don't have to pay for extra people - but I have mainly booked it for DS9mths and DS4 as I have read on the Seaworld threads that there is very little shade, which is vital for us if we are to spend more than an hour of so in the park!!

I have posted a thread on the Seaworld forum, as I'm sure someone on there was going to hire a cabana last weekend and give us a trip report - so I will let you know when someone replies!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Anyone got any pics of these cabanas? or a link to some, ive looked but cant find any?

$175! wow.. that seems outrageous to me on top of the park entrance - what exactly do you get for your money? Some shade? and a locker? ooh and fridge I am reading...

For that.. honestly.. I would want my own personal butler for the day fanning me and peeling grapes!

Im amazed anyone books them...

I know it is very expensive but its our 10th wedding anniversary that day so partly is a special treat for us. But also because we are really looking forward to having a whole day at the water park, I really must have somewhere cool for DS9mths to sleep without worrying about the heat- I guess there is Butler service to a degree - well a cabana boy/girl will go and fetch you lunch - so I guess its as close to butler service as I'm ever gonna get!!:lmao:

Well i suppose for a special occasion i can understand you wanting to.. but it does seem like an incredibly high price for some shade.

One of the Disney Parks... Blizzard I think it is (but I am easily confused) has some lovely free Tree Shaded Cabanas.. with picnic table.. overlooking the lazy river...
My vote would be take one of those for free!

Im sure you will have a lovely time though Amy... dont mean to put a downer on your special day... I just think that Aquatica are charging over the odds for this... lets face it they should have put more shade in the park to begin with if the only place you can guarantee some is to pay $175 for a Cabana. I think charging $30 is more realistic for this service - but I dont understand exactly what is included in the price, so perhaps Im misunderstanding the value of it.

I think Sammie makes some good points.

I have read reviews and seen many photos of Aquatica, but one thing you want especially with children is areas of shade.
To be honest if I was in the unlikely role of planning any water park that would be on my hit-list of 'must have's'.
The number of loungers on the beach area is massive compared to the Disney water parks and obviously with that you do want some shaded areas really.

Sea World I think is a very well themed park and Aquatica looks that way too.
I would check out the Sea World/Discovery Cove forums as that may help also.

Hi, no you didn't put a downer on it !!!:lmao: :lmao: It IS jolly expensive and to be honest I know its very extravagant of me!!!:scared1: - Our wedding anniversary is always a bit of a strange time - happy to remember our wonderful Disney Day but sad as my dad who arranged it all is no longer with us - so I thought doing Aquatica for the first time on that day would be really amazing as it will be a brand new experience for us - but to be honest, I haven't been that impressed with the photos I have seen so far :upsidedow and I guess booking the cabana was a bid to raise my excitement level again!!:lmao:

Anyway, I'll let you all know if it was worth the money (I very much doubt it will be too!!:goodvibes :goodvibes ) but I think (??) its still cheaper than those you can hire at the Hard Rock Hotel, and I really don't see the point of those - as at least there you can go up to your room if you get too hot!!:confused3 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I'm planning on booking one when we visit Aquatica in August 2009. I know it's pricey but I'm not a water park fan so glad to have a private place to relax for the day whilst DH and DS do their thing... :thumbsup2

Hi, I have just had a look around and found a couple of photo's you may find useful

We are still debating whether this is good value for the 6 of us, may just wait and see what we think of the park before deciding for a return visit.

i don't like the look of that park.......i've always hated slides like that....where they're way up in the air.....disney managed to avoid that at Blizzard Beach by building the slides into a fake mountain....so you never feel like you're way up in the air that way....
i guess if you're not afraid of heights, like i am, those sky high slides won't be a problem for you...

thanks for posting the link to the pics....no need for us to bother with aquatica...

i came back to add that if i had little kids, i'd definitely go to aquatica - the kids area, walkabout waters, looks like a lot of fun!!...

I can't believe it myself either, £100 for the use of a tent for a few hours?!! :rotfl:

any reviews? Did you find the cabanas to be worth the money?

Hi!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We really enjoyed our day at Aquatica and it was mainly down to having the cabana and our own private space!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

HOWEVER - A few things to consider - we were really lucky with the one we had - it was very private and because of what I had I read on the Seaworld board, I knew that some of the cabanas were located next to a smoking area - so I asked to be away from that. We were just lucky and got the last cabana near the kids area which was perfect for our boys.:goodvibes

But if we had been given the cabana just next door to us, DH said he wouldn't have been happy as there was a big umbrella right outside it and it seemed ANYONE could just use it - so not so secluded and private as ours.

The main reason we benefitted from the cabana was because Lucas (DS who was then 9mths) was able to take a long nap (over 2 hours!!! ) in the cool airconditioned tent, which meant we could take in turns playing with Kai (DS4) in the water - But I guess if we didn't have Lucas then we wouldn't have got much out of the cabana - but for little ones who need shade it was perfect!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

With regards to cost - we felt it was worthwhile but only because it included all of our drinks (we were able to swap what we were given for drinks that we preferred - and even had a couple left to take home:) ) but also because you get a discount (I think it was 25% off) voucher to use in the merchandise shop and DH bought a pair of Oakley sunglasses which he had planned on buying later at the outlet and we made big savings there - so it offset the cost a bit for us - but again it was great for us but I can see how others would find it very expensive!!:lmao:

All in all - we had a great day - but it was a one off and we wouldn't hurry back to Aquatica (we much prefer BB - and please don't go just for the dolphin plunge slide as I didn't meet one person all day who actually saw the dolphins as they flew through!!:rotfl: ) - and I would really only consider the cabana if you have a baby who needs some shade for naps etc!!

hope that helps a little - any questions let me know!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks for the review - I did wonder if the Dolphin Plunge slide might be all mouth and no trousers so to speak! I think next year we are going to stick with th eDisney Waterparks with our young DD's

I probably will try Aquatica but not this time - we have 10 days in Orlando and I think we are going to concentrate on Disney although may venture to Seaworld for a day.

To be honest we found Aquatica to have more shade available than TL or BB with parasols over alot of the loungers, if you get there early and nab one it is very good. Plus at the back there were huge covered areas for whole families.
