Hi,
My son is 4 and 40 inches. Will he be able to ride the aqua duck if I am riding with him?

We are contemplating booking a trip, but if he can't ride the aqua duck it might be a deal breaker.

Thanks!
Michelle

no. The height requirement for a child to ride with an adult is 42 inches, so it appears he will be 2 inches too short.

He will be able to ride the Mickey slide by himself.

It appears he will be fine if you go with him, check out this report.

From DCL's website:

AquaDuck is a thrilling "water coaster," whose entrance is on Deck 12, Aft aboard the Disney Dream. In a cruise industry first, Guests are propelled at high speeds from Deck 12, Aft through an acrylic tube on a breathtaking journey up, down, around and off the side of the ship, through the Forward Funnel and—following a mammoth drop—into a lazy river.

Developed by Disney Imagineers, this elevated water coaster—the first of its kind at sea—travels 765 feet and features exciting twists, turns and plunges. It was designed for adults and children at least 42" or taller. Single riders must be at least 54" or taller. Children under 7 must ride with someone 14 years of age or older, provided the child is at least 42" tall.

AquaDuck affords breathtaking views of the ocean and ship below—that is, if you're brave enough to keep your eyes open during this exciting ride! It also offers a bird's-eye view of the exciting new pools available to family, kids and adults on the Disney Dream.

Operating hours are likely to vary, so once you're onboard check the Personal Navigator—the Disney Cruise Line daily newsletter detailing all there is to see and do—for the most accurate times.

Disney Dream images are artist renderings; actual construction may vary.

The article linked also says the height minimum is 42 inches, so OP's child is not tall enough to ride the AquaDuck.

Also keep in mind that unlike the parks the height is measured in bare feet so there is no cheating with shoes.

My younger son was 41 1/2 inches on our cruise last month. We had warned him in advance that he would not be able to ride the Aqua Duck. He had a blast on the Mickey slide and the pools/hot tubs in general and didn't seem bothered that he was missing the Aqua Duck. I wouldn't make it a deal breaker. There is so much other stuff to do on the ship.

My son was just a little over 40 inches when we cruised last year and they would not let him ride the AquaDuck. He didn't mind at all. While DD was riding with DH, I was in the Mickey/Donald pool with him or he stayed going down the Mickey slide or playing in Nemo's Reef.

He paid no attention to the AquaDuck but he is definitely excited about being able to ride when we cruise in March. I don't think it should be a deal breaker. Have fun:cool1:
