Aquaduck - A Line Etiquette Question

Later this year we'll be on the Dream with our 6 year-old granddaughter who loves, loves, loves waterslides.

My question is one of etiquette. As per the height restriction, she will always be going down the slide with an adult. Is there anything wrong with two of us lining up at up different points so that she can go down the slide with Papa, then join Grandma in the line up to go down the slide again?

Again, I'm not talking about "letting her in", she'd be going down the slide with one of us each time.

I think this should be ok, but I didn't want to breach Disney etiquette on our first cruise with them. :-)

It strikes me as poor manners. I wouldn't do it. I know I get annoyed when people are pushing up through the line, insisting they are joining family already in line.

If she's not all enough to ride solo, they won't let her in line unaccompanied. I also agree with the PP.

Ok, but she wouldn't be unaccompanied. She'd go down the slide first with Papa, then with me. Sorry if I wasn't clear - she'd be going down on the same turn as each of us.

So Papa wouldn't be going down with me; I wouldn't be going down with him ...

Yes, this would not be proper etiquette. The other adult should wait at the end of the Aquaduck. When she gets off with one adult, she can get in line at the end with the other adult. If every family did this with every parent, the line would never go down. Let alone all the maneuvering, pushing, and snaking it would take to get with the other adult up towards the front of the line.

The problem will be that she is going to have to climb through and around others already on the stairs which narrow as you go up. That will probably irritate others. We have never experienced that long of a wait, other have commented on time, we never waited more that 10 or 15 minutes, sometime walking right up and on.

i have no problem with you doing it since as you explained, you're waiting in line for your turn (for which she's teaming up with you)..
the issue is, i'm not sure she'll be able to cut in line to get up to where you are in line...
but by the way, when we were on the dream, the line was pretty short...so it wasn't that big a deal to wait...
but i understand what you're saying, and i think it's fine....just i'm not sure about the mechanics of it....whether it will even be possible..

Thanks for the explanation. As a first-timer, I had no idea of how the line would "look", but it makes sense that narrow stairs would cause a fuss for other people as well.

Also my daughter has just thrown her virtual hands up in horror at the suggestion we do this. :-)

Thanks again for the responses.

Here's a photo showing the AquaDuck entrance. The first set of stairs is on the pool deck (red arrow) up the stairs and over to the actual entrance, middle of deck 12. That's where there's a height check (maybe one at the lower stair also, can't remember). Then up the stairs (those are the ones that narrow). When you reach deck 13, you go inside and up a few more stairs before the loading area (inside).

Even if this was okay the big issue is they will not let her in line and up to you if she is under the height to ride on her own. They want the two people ridding together to enter the line together so they know the too short person is paired with someone.

I saw this happen a few time when entering the line. Kids with the under height to ride alone armbands were trying to enter the line because brother/cousin/dad was in already in line and the CM would not let them enter unaccompanied. I even saw one kid go back and forth with the cast member insisting they were going to ride with someone in line.

That said, I did see a few kids get in line with siblings or cousins. Since they were riding double, the CM at the top of stairs seemed to let it slide. Once we were that close to the ride, it appeared that the CM was verifying doubles because riding single would appear like breaking in line. But that is just my guess, the two times I saw this on the loading platform.

I never even thought of that - someone would have to verify that people were actually riding as doubles. Thanks!

I saw that too. A lot of the time since the too short just has to ride with a tall enough double but not an adult they would either look at the wrist bands and force them to pair with someone else in their party or send them back down and then of course you would get off and welcomed to a mom screaming at her older kids for leaving the little one behind. I noticed during peak times there would be 2 CMs at the top. One manning the ride and launching tubes and another ensuring sizes and pairs.

No reason for me to pile on here in agreement but I nothing wrong with taking the time to commend you on at least asking.

The main reason I noticed it was that a teen jumped in line right in front of us. We were second in line. When the cast member saw it, he immediately asked the teen boy & teen girl already in line if they were doubles. I don't know if he caught them off guard or if they had planned to ride as singles, but they glanced at each other for a split second and then said yes. The kid could have been taking something prohibited like a camera to put in a cubbie or give to someone, but we did not see him in line the entire time. Of note, the line was not that long to begin with. We walked all the way up to the bottom of the stairs at the platform.

The second time was a similar scenario, neither kid had an armband either.

But, they always verified for kids with armbands & I did see a few older siblings/cousins/friends that seemed to be caught off guard too. I guess in their excitement, they didn't really think about pairing up. This was also my guess of what happened at the entrance. The older kids would sprint ahead leaving the younger kids & by the time the younger kids got to the entrance, no older rider was in sight.
