"Aqua Socks" at Water Parks?

I am curious - have read some tips that the pavement at the water parks can be quite hot and "aqua socks" are recommended. Can you wear these right on the slides? Do they slow you down because of the rubber/grippy soles? Thanks for the input.

They can be worn on most slides. The only ones I know they will ask you to take them off for are the speed slides (Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach for example). In that case they will ask you to take them off and hold them in your hands while you are on the slide. Otherwise they are a great way to save your feet from the all day abuse of the concrete

At Typhoon it was the storm slides and Humonga Kowabunga that made us take them off. I'm too grossed out by walking where that many people have been barefoot, so I wore water shoes. (Besides, my dad got athlete's foot at a waterpark one time...so I'm even more careful now than I was)

Can Aqua Socks be purchased at the water parks or WDW stores?

Yes, you can buy them at the parks but they'll be a lot more expensive than if you got them at Walmart or Target. I bought mine at one of the water parks a couple of years ago and I think they cost about $12-$15. I bought some new ones at Target this year for $5.

We always wear aqua socks at both Typhoon Lagoon & Blizzard Beach.
The concrete at the wave pool in TL is very rough. It's hard enough trying to protect the upper part of your body from getting hurt by the waves...you might as well have comfy feet. The rest of your body will take a beating.

We always bring our aqua socks. We don;t go one the big slides so we have never been asked to take them off. We found our for this year at Target a couple of weeks ago on clearance for $2.52 a pair. Can't beat that
