So due to sleep deprivation, an overabundance of financial planning, DISboard price speculation and an inherent frustration with WDW price increases, we now have our AP needs covered through the end of 2016!!

We already had our DVC AP vouchers purchased for Annual WDW Year 10/2012 - 10/2013 (28 days). The next 'Annual Year' would be 2015-2016. Yes we do long term planning like that. :rotfl2:

So after seeing yearly AP prices rise at a rates way above inflation, DW and I decided to 'invest' in another DVC AP voucher right before the 6/3 increase. Well it was welcome relief to see the price only go up $6.40 a pass this year, but we're still glad we locked in the old prices for our long-term future. Our ROI will still be a lot more than the 0.25% we get in our Vacation Savings account. Plus we have the peace of mind knowing that our tickets are covered for our next long-term trip.

So now I need to print out several vouchers and lock them up in our safety deposit box!

Anybody else hedge their bets against future Disney ticket price increase with several AP vouchers?

How many are in your family? We are a family of three and buying up to 2016 in one shot would've cost us over $5200!

We are not financially in a position to plunk down a chunk of change like that that right now so we will take out chances down the road :)

I was tempted to purchase tickets for our 2013 trips, yesterday. I was able to resist that temptation, though. (Probably because I'd just cut the check to pay off last month's Disney Visa bill.)

Don't ask me about my PhotoPass account, though. I think I have a stash of 3 CDs+Photobooks on it.

I think that they only bought one additional year.

He stated that his next annual year was 2015-2016, so I think that they skip a year or two between AP years.

Yep, just 2 of us for AP's, skipping 1 1/2 - 2 years between our WDW 365 day annual blitz. Just like DVC lodging, were now 'pre-paid' for tickets, at least for a few more years.

:) I asked DH if he thought it would be a good idea to go ahead and get our 2013 APs. He gave me the  look and I heard crickets chirping. We will have a trip in Oct on our current Aps and just got back May11...I think it was just too much for him...:rolleyes1

:) And yes, you ARE my Disney Planning Hero of the day. You can add DPH 6/3/12 to your siggie now.

Okay got it now! I do admire people who can plan that far ahead though :thumbsup2

No since DL makes us use the voucher within the calendar year in which it was purchased. That makes this impossible for DL APs. I hate how there are different rules between WDW/DL.

I almost bought a child's DVC AP for DD and she won't be 3 until the end of 2014!

Knowing me, I probably would have gone ahead and bought it!

Funny, I am doing just the opposite! As these ticket prices rise, we are at the point that when the ones we have stocked up on are gone, that's it. No way we are paying these prices!
We have one AP voucher each (bought that one from story below) and about 15 days of non-exp tickets each. After that, who knows, maybe we will be in FL and get resident discount!

Several years ago, the DVC AP was $300. Plus Discover Card offered an additional 5% off of theme park tickets. I remember I came on these boards and talked about stocking up and someone (who shall remain nameless but had a high position here on the Dis) said that it wasn't necessary to do that. For some strange reason, I listened. And regretted it less than a year later when they started skyrocketing up in price!

OP, I don't blame you for doing what you did. For us, their prices are just too high. We may eventually buy another non-exp 10 day, but it will be very painful.:scared1:

Buying another pass for the future is not what is shocking to me. It is that you are going to be there for 28 days. That is a long time.

Not long enough if you ask me!

Oct 2012: 9 nt/10 days Our 30th Wedding Anniversary Trip
April 2013: 7 nt/8 days Gotta get our F&G fix in!
Sept 2013: 9 nt/10 days

I'm sure we'll be ready for a break form Disney after that year, but may do some HHI or VB before heading back to the world in 2015.

In my life right now I can not imagine leaving everything for 28 days. I would love to but the kids and I have way to much stuff going on to leave home for that long. Maybe when the kids are out of school my wife and I can do that. Have fun!

We have a few days left on our old 10-day Non-expiring Hopper passes and just bought new 10-day Non-expiring hoppers before the price increase.

On a typical trip we'll hit the parks for 4 days so we're covered for 3 more trips. Since we go to WDW every 18 mos or so we should be okay for a couple years.

That is about as far out as we plan.

HAHA... You're just like me!
I bought a bunch of vouchers on 2008 which we still have now. And added more vouchers because we have 2 kids now!!!! So with all the vouchers we have, we should be set until 2017 if we go every year.
If we skip a year to go to DL or Aulani (cross fingers) then maybe longer... :)

We have had to stop buying AP's due to the price and we aren't going often enough to warrent 6 AP's. Plus we want the water park feature and that makes it even more expensive.

I have found the Disney's YES program and my kids can take a class and we can save over $1000 on a 6 day park hopper and water parks ticket for all 6 of us.

I agree ...28 days is not enough for me. No amount of days would be enough. Between May 2012 and May 2013 we will be spending 33 days at the world and I'm already wishing for more.
Kudos to you for planning so well and saving some $$$! Enjoy your upcoming trips.
