APs and Magic Bands

We've ordered MB's for our upcoming trip and have linked our APs to our account, so I'm assuming our park admission is linked to the band as well. Is there any other reason I'd need to keep my AP on me? If I buy something at a Disney store, does the MB "know" that I get the AP discount, or do I need to carry the AP around to show it for things like that?

You need to carry it if you will be using the discount. And I carried ours first because I didn't realize the ap would be on it and MDE told me to bring it when I was linking them, but then as a just in case option.

Cool, thank you. Would be great if Disney would just do that automatically, but I'm guessing it's better for them if you get caught up in the ease of using the band and forget.

Take your ID too...the last few times we have gone, they have asked for ID for our discount. they gave DD (15) a hard time because she didn't have it...I tried to explain to them she is 15...she doesn't have ID!!

Agreed. Always carry your ID and AP with you, because the band does NOT recognize the AP Discount OR Tables In Wonderland yet.

We just got back from a 4 day weekend (Oct 25 - 28), staying at POFQ. When we checked in, they said our APs were not linked to our magic bands and to see the concierge. His suggestion was not to link the APs to the magic band because there were some glitches and our entrance into the parks would be much smoother without them being linked. Also, as other posters have mentioned, you need your AP for any shopping discounts.

We were there 25-30th! I'd pre-linked our SPsto the bands and they worked great

We had someone at guest services link our APs (9/25 - 10/6) and it works perfectly.

You will need to carry your AP, your ID, your MB and KTTW (in case MB does not work for whatever reason).

I'm sure we could have requested that the APs be linked, but I was already carrying my wallet so not linking them was not a problem. We really liked using the magic bands....especially for the fast passes!

Agree with what others said. Used my AP discount at Mousegear today. Was asked for the AP and my ID. The CM compared the name on my ID to the name on the back of my AP.
