Aprincess72 Disneyland Disneymoon TR!

i know this was posted a while ago BUT!...Oscar is the oldest remaining cast member at Disneyland :) he is always there and he will always stop and chat with everyone...i really enjoy talking to him when i am there as well! i've never eaten there for lunch but for breakfast the special is the "oscar scramble" or something like that.

i wanna go to Disneyland...we usually go every year but with the wedding coming up we just can't afford it...i'm having withdrawls!

Awww! Thank you for telling me that! I did not know that about him! He waw incredibly sweet and talked to us forever! I was shocked when we went back and he remembered us!

Good call on not riding that ferris wheel, btw! We went on it in September and thought, "oh, it looks inocuous enough; how bad could it be?" I looked pretty green after that ride, let me tell you!

I think I would have passed out if I had been on that thing and it went sliding... ACCK!

Oh no! I want to personally apologize for your crappy service at the Napa Rose - we eat there all the time and love it, so I feel like the Napa Rose ambassador. I'm so bummed that your waitress soured your experience there!

I will say, however, that the only time we had bad service there, it was some of the worst I've ever had. We had this smarmy waiter with all these affectations and unnecessary flourishes who acted like he knew all this stuff about food but really didn't know anything. My fella does this great (exaggerated) impression of him whisking the crumbs off our table with a crumbcatcher and then blowing them back in our faces...maybe you had to be there... :rotfl:

I was so upset!!! It's tough to enjoy a meal without a cocktail! DUH! I don't know what our waitress' deal was. She was in sloooow motion! I swear there was a DL conspiracy against bringing us drinks at dinner. I think instead of "honeymoon" they put "ignore beverages" on our dining cards! The exact thing happened to us the next night at Hook's Point. I'll be posting that Friday or Saturday when I get back home!

OMG... DH would have died if we had your waiter! He doesn't do well with the swarmy!!!

Day 3!

We began the day with breakfast at Goofy’s Kitchen. The buffet here rocks!!! It was so good I almost forgot about the characters!

I liked the atmosphere here because it was so much fun! Goofy runs out of the kitchen with all sorts of kitchen stuff, dumps it out on the floor and all the kids go running! I was so jealous! They starting beating on buckets with kitchen utensils and having a blast! It was really cute.

We met up with Dale first:

After our breakfast we walked around the hotel and checked things out! I was getting all weepy looking at all the old pictures of Walt and the Disney memorabilia. I’m a big nerd!

We headed on over to CA adventure to see a few other things we missed like the Aladdin show. I really liked it but DH wasn’t crazy about it. He’s a big Aladdin fan so he’s tough to impress!

The first person we saw was this guy! (I was enjoying the last of a chocolate covered frozen banana)

After the show and making a few purchases we headed back over to DL. On our way over DH decides he needs this photo:
He calls it “C Jim”

DH found way too many photo ops in Toon Town. I have to say this place is very cool!
I loved that I could sit on Minnie’s couch!

DHs dream comes true with Roger Rabbit’s car:

DH’s favorite photo op at DL… not for the weak stomached!

We headed for Carnation Café again because I had to have more of that baked potato soup! Oscar came over and chatted with us for a bit. He remembered us and was asking all kinds of questions about his trip. To me this guy is Disney magic! I just read on the Disney Insider that he just celebrated his 50th anniversary there! So cool!

One last pic before we head back to the hotel:

We’ll come back later for the parade and dinner at Hook’s Pointe!

how exciting! How many days were you in California? DH and I wuold love to go at some point but ive been to Disneyland and for me it was an easy day trip. I was wondering how much time you thought was needed to do everything.

Not to hijack the thread, but Maggie I think you need a day for Disneyland and half a day for California Adventure. I live in LA so if you (or anyone here!) ever want to meet up at Disneyland, let me know. I can show you how to do the park depending on your interests (hitting all the rides, just soaking up atmosphere, etc.)! :goodvibes

Sent you a PM :thumbsup2 Also, I think you could probably spend a whole day at California Adventure - I just do a speed tour through there cuz I'm a local!

And now back to the trip report.... popcorn::

We were in CA a total of 7 days. We saw everything at DL in 3 days and that's being very thorough. We also went to the San Diego Zoo, Long Beach, and an Angels game. There's so much to do out there! April was a great time of year too because it was still great weather and not busy.

I have been loving every minute of your thread!! Up until 2 years ago I had only ever been to Disneyland...never knew what Disneyworld was all about! I seriously considered DL for my wedding because my grandma (and my grandpa until a few years ago) live in Pasadena and my sister lives right there too! I love to visit CA so much, would never live there, but fun to vacation!

I love DL...I actually like how small it is, and how it doesn't take forever to see everything. Plus, its the original! So glad you two had fun. I can't wait to go out again (less expensive for me since I have a free place to stay!!

Are you sad to be home now??? I want your TR's to continue!

Awww! I keep dragging my TR out because I don't want it to be over!! LOL!
DH said last night "I wish we were still on our honeymoon". It's so sad!
I'm really glad we live so close to WDW but we don't go much in the summer because of the heat and crowds. I can't wait until fall so we can get back on our regular every other week visit schedule! Although I am planning to sneak over in a few weeks when I am working in Orlando!

I love DL! It has an intimate feel about it and I just love the history of it. I can't help but think about Walt walking around and making sure that everyone is getting the quality experience he had in mind.
I also love that the Tiki Room is original! The WDW Tiki Room is a big sore spot with my family! Is it weird to cry in the Tiki Room???

I have to chime in about DL. I totally agree with the "feeling" you get there. We are once-a-monthers at WDW and obviously love it, but DL was such a unique experience for me. I seriously got goosebumps just entering the gates. I loved having the wide-eyed excited experience at a new park. Knowing the Walt was there... he saw it all was such an amazing experience for me. We watched the parade from outside the firehouse and all I could think about was "Walt's apartment is RIGHT THERE!"

Goofy's Kitchen looks like fun! We never made it to the Disneyland Hotel while we were there. There's always next time... Great TR!

I am so glad you liked DL. I get rather sad when WDWers say mean things about DL. I grew up in CA and love the place to death. We could easily spend two weeks there and never get bored. I love how silly you two are. Your photo ops are perfect. By the way, you are so pretty. There is more than one picture where I catch myself saying, boy DH is sure lucky to have her!
