April 8th, 2012: WONDERful Mexican Riviera!

another question, how can we find out what our dinning rotation will be?
Looking to make palo reservation, but want to know when our second night at parrot would be and also when do formal and semi formal night occur?
We know pirate night is between cabo visits do that one is easy.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Like another pp mentioned, you will find out what your dining rotation is once you board. Formal night will be Monday and I am fairly certain semi formal night is Friday. When we sailed over Thanksgiving, we had semi formal night on both Thursday and Friday but I think that was because Thanksgiving was on Thursday. I believe I saw on someone else's recent navigator that their semi was on Friday.

We are definitely up for doing the FE exchange. Oh wow, I didn't remember that this cruise and the Hawaii cruise were so close. Now that is a sure fire way to prevent post-cruise depression. I admit, when I heard all the rumors about the Wonder leaving the West Coast at the end of the year. I booked DH and I on a Pacific Coast cruise in September. It is kind of a dummy cruise right now to lock in the price. I'm going to try and rebook it when we are onboard (if the pricing doesn't go up before then) or if the Wonder stays here, move it out to 2013. At worse case, I cancel it and move the deposit to apply as a payment on our 2013 Fantasy cruise.

I am also bummed about the Wonder not being on the west coast anymore. We certainly had made use of her being here...Feb 2011, Nov 2011, then this cruise, Hawaii cruise and we are booked again for next Thanksgiving. You just can't beat not having to pay airfare. The idea of a Panama Canal cruise has me frantic though! I want to do a PC cruise so bad! I even went and talked to the kid's school office to see if I could get permission to take the kids out to do this cruise if there is one next December. I am so excited that I have the okay to do so! I would then cancel the Thanksgiving cruise. As much as I'd like to do the PC cruise, I'd like for the Wonder to stay on the west coast.

I am dying to do a PC cruise also but I have the issue with the timing of them too (kid's in school). Plus the time off of work for me and DH would be a little harder on that one.

I am keeping my finger's crossed that they will try out some other options for LA, rather than leaving altogether. I think they could do really good with some shorter 3 and 4 night sailings and hopefully the Pacific Coast cruises are popular enough for them to consider doing more of those. Maybe those plus more Hawaii cruises will be enough to keep them here longer. :goodvibes

And I wouldn't just miss the cruises but I would miss being able to head down to the port on Sunday afternoons just to watch her pull out. LOL - it is silly but I love standing on the sidewalk across from her and counting down to the horn with everyone on board

When can we sign up for beer, whiskey, ect.. tasting?

I have also heard that it's best to take pecos into cabo not american cash, any thoughts?

So excited:rotfl:

I think the tastings you sign up for when you get on board (at guest services). DH and I are thinking of trying one of those also (maybe the tequilla testing, if they have that, LOL).

For the money, all the trip reports I have been reading say that they just use american dollars. But to bring small bills because you won't get change back in dollars, that will be in pesos. Also that makes it easier to haggle about prices if you tell them you only have $10, etc.

Soooo...has anyone started booking excursions yet (do we have any gold CC members)? Our window opens this Monday (or Sunday at midnight, I guess, LOL) so we are trying to make a final decision. I'm also curious to see what port arrival times are available still.

Oh, it is so much more exciting when I can actually start booking things for the trip :cool1:

We are concierge so our booking window already opened up but we didn't book any excursions. I did book a Palo brunch, high tea and dinner. I may just have my IL's do the dinner so that I don't feel like a third wheel. Brunch I will not miss! I also booked spa appts for my MIL and myself.

I'm thinking of actually trying out the spa myself this time. But I'm not a big spa person usually so I'm not sure what to book. But DH and DD will be doing a Discover Scuba excursion in Cabo and rather than book something for DS and I, just for the heck of it, I might let him go to the club and I will enjoy some adult time instead. Of course, I may just use that time to enjoy the adult pool area :thumbsup2

DH and I are hoping to do a Palo brunch also but I have to see what is available when our booking window opens.

Wel, we booked a palo brunch and diner, but we could not book with out linked friends because they are first time cruisers, hope we can get palo together.

Also booked outdoor adventure in PV, just gonna wander around Cabo.

Any other teens out there? My ds-16 is a little concerened about being the only teen:worship: (yeah I know)

We booked Palo brunch, the Pirate Sail in PV and the Discovery scuba for DH and DD in Cabo. Dh and I are both certified divers but DD has only practiced in the pool so this will be her first ocean dive. I wish I could be there with her, but DS isn't old enough for the excursion and I don't want to leave him on the ship alone for that long.

DD is a teen but unfortunately she won't be 14 until a week after the cruise so she will still be going to the tween club. I know they used to let them move up to the next age group if they were that close, but I thought I read that they won't do that anymore. I would love for her to know someone else on the ship too since she is pretty shy and can't just jump into social situations like my DS does.

I all fellow cruisers!!! Oh so tired this morning, as we stayed up late to do our bookings as it turned midnight on the coast (but was 11pm here).

We booked a brunch and dinner at Palo. Hopefully we did not book on Pirate night or seafood night. As we haven't cruised since 2008, not sure how much things have changed. But from what I've read, Formal night on Monday, semi-formal night is friday, pirate night thursday? In the past cruises we've been on, seafood night is on semi-formal night.

DH booked a city tour in PV and the dolphin encounter for me, DS(5) and DD(10) on the 2nd Cabos day. We'll bum around the first cabos day.

I posted a thread asking what DCL did for easter and absolutely NO ONE answered my thread and that was months ago. Was that offensive to ask? And I did a search and found nothing on this site (except there is a VERY early church service). I find it hard to believe that DCL does not do anything. And you can't even "order" and easter package for your stateroom. Hummmm...., I just might have to figure out how to do an easter egg hunt for DS.

Our DD figured out Santa, easter bunny and the tooth fairy. She asked us the morning of christmas. :sad1: closing a chapter of her youth...at least we'll have a few more years of that make-believe with DS!!!

When we sailed last Nov, I was able to book Palo with my friends who were first time cruisers because our ressies were linked. I couldn't book spa or excursions for them though.

We sailed on Easter in 2007, so things may have changed since then, but... Looking at my navigator, there were "Easter Festivities" ("Join us for the fun and surprises for our Easter celebration") at 9am in the atrium and then an "Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt" for the kids at 1:15 and "Easter Animation Cells" at 3:30 in the lab. For the 3-7 year olds, in the club: "Easter Crafts and Games" and "Easter Eggstravaganza". Oh, and teens also had craft time and a scavenger hunt.
Not sure if they'll have this much on our cruise since Easter is on embarkation day....
Hope that helps!

Shout out for FE participants!!!!!

I know our board has been pretty quiet but I thought I would throw out an official request for people interested in joining an FE. I would be happy to compile the information into a spreadsheet.

If we only get a few groups, maybe we can just arrange to do multiple exchanges over the course of the cruise (or once for the adults and multiple for the kids). Once we have the number of people that would like to join, we can decide together how to handle it.

If you would like to join, send me a PM with the following information:

Adults Names (and how related, ex: Dad, Mom, Grandma, etc)
Kids Names and ages
Stateroom Number
Any allergies or special notes (ex. peanut allergy so that no one will delivery candy with peanuts to that room, etc)
Email address

None of this information will be posted on the Dis. It will be emailed to the participants only. :)

Thank you so much for that!!! My DH phoned DCL last night and they said "We're sure that DCL will do something as it IS Disney after all!!!" They also mentioned to him that easter gift baskets will be available for purchase online in about a month so to check back.

Sent you a pm! The kids had a blast doing the FE on our last cruise and can't wait to do it again!

I was on the MR 10 day cruise during spring break 2011. We were at Cabo on Easter. They didn't do anything special that I saw. Well maybe they did while we were on an excursion. We went to Church on the pool deck at 7am and then to a pool resort and they had an easter egg hunt at the resort and other fun stuff for the kids. I think the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland was walking around the ship, but that was it. I was disappointed that they didn't hand out chocolate easter eggs to kids or something.

They do have empty baskets that you can purchase along with all the other souvenir stuff and they will cellophane wrap and deliver it to your room.

We went down to the Port of LA and watched the Wonder leave tonight. Come on April 8th....hurry up and get here :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I can't wait to be on the ship side, looking down at the people waving goodbye again :thumbsup2

April can not get here fast enough! I'm longing for some Cabo sunshine, it has been really cold here, at least to someone who was born and raised here. Having it be 42 degrees dropping the kids off at school is freezing in my book and yet some on the east might think that is balmy! LOL :rotfl2:

Hopefully we get others wanting to participate in the FE. I'm starting to work on mine this weekend. I think I will make it easy on myself and do the same thing for both this cruise and the Hawaii one 2 weeks later. That way when I am working on them in front of the kids, I will just tell them it is for Mommy's cruise without them since they don't know about this one! :thumbsup2

I resemble this remark! When I first moved to O.C. from New York (almost 17 years ago) I would laugh at people dressed in boots and heavy coats....now, I'm one of them!:lmao: I do love this rain this morning, though! Really love that the rain is supposed to let up for tomorrow as we have plans to go to Disneyland!:goodvibes

Getting super excited for this trip! My DD doesn't know about the trip either! Well, she knows she's going on a cruise, but she doesn't know when we are leaving. My plan is to leave out some candy filled eggs leading from her bed to the downstairs area, where we will have a small easter basket with a stuffed Easter Minnie Mouse in it - alongside her packed suitcase! She's going to be so excited!:yay:

April can't get here soon enough!!!
