April 5th 2014 Fantasy Caribbean Cruise

Hey everyone- totally new to DCL and cruising in general and I have many questions and lots to read up on.

One of my children will be turning 3 the day after our cruise is over. Does anyone have any experience with having a birthday party on board?

Also does anyone know if there is any leeway with the club the kids age 3-7 go to? All of her siblings and cousins will be in that age group except her - if she is potty trained, do they bend the rules at all so siblings can stay together? Thanks!

Our daughter turned 2 and 5, and son turned 1 on board. Tell Disney now to make a note on your reservation that you want to celebrate the birthday. At dinner on your first night, make sure your wait staff know, and they will likely ask what night you want to do it. They will provide a small cake and the staff will sing happy birthday at dinner. That's about it...

Yes, here are the guidelines copied from another post on the boards, from a current youth programs cast member:

"My child is under 3, can they go to the Oceaneer Club or Lab?
Not unless they fulfill the following requirements:
-Are fully potty trained (can use a toilet and undress themselves independently, must not wear diapers or pull-ups.)
-Are capable of speaking and communicating their needs to an adult who is not in their family
-Are independent (i.e.: will not spend the entire time in the space crying and waiting by the front gate due to separation anxiety)
-Are well socialized and do not demonstrate any fear of Counselors and will be able to follow instructions.
-Are generally within 2 months of turning 3 years old.

This is the general guideline we follow when approving children under the age requirement into the space - which might seem like a tall order for toddlers, but there are indeed tons of 2-year olds who possess all of these qualities and have matured and grown quite rapidly! So don't fret if your 2-year old doesn't quite match up, kids mature at different rates. If a Counselor is ever in doubt about the eligibility of an under-3 into the space, they will ask for a Manager to come speak with the family and have a look at the child."

Thank you for your informative reply. I'm not sure my toddler will meet those requirements but it's nice to have that goal :) I'm so glad to hear that it is a possibility. Thanks!

We're on this cruise too! Sailed on the 3-night Dream to Nassau in August with the kids. This time it's our 20th anniversary--just us! Can't wait!

Let me know what other info you need. If whoever is in my group needs full first names I'd be glad to give them in private. Thanks.

Please take our second cabin (#6566) off the FE list -- the big kids in that room are just going to help me and decided they are too old for the "stuff" people give. Thanks!

I'll be closing the list on the 5th and begin dividing up the rooms as evenly as possible. I have the most recent adds as well, just haven't posted yet.

Any that have not provided a room number will be removed so please check to see if your info is correct. As of right now, there are only 34 who have provided the minimum information needed (room number and # of people). I'm missing room numbers for many...

Thanks,
Matt

My DD is 11 y/o, turning 12 a few weeks after the sail. She has gotten to know penpals prior to our past cruises and it really helps the kids feel comfortable going off to the clubs together - my DD loves the Edge and is very comfortable coming and going from their activities but I make her follow the buddy system. (She feels too old to hang out in the club/lab.) If you have a DD in that age range who will be visiting the Edge, send me a PM so they can exchange emails.

Thanks,
Cindy

Well, I'm not sure if I'm on the FE list or not since I tried emailing and still can't DM. Anyway, our info is:

Me (Kate) 38
DD (Leah) turning 5 on April 8 on board the ship

Cabin 6180

Thanks!

Hi Matt,

Just to say thanks for organising the list, I thought I would provide some updated info:-

1. We have decided not to take part in the FE group as this is part of a longer
trip for us and going from previous experience luggage may be an issue.

2. Our names are DH - Ross, Me - Andrea, DD - Cara & DS - Lewis….just in
case they meet any other kids in the clubs.

3. We are travelling for Easter Break & our daughters 8th birthday.

4. We are DVC members….and love it.

Thanks again for keeping the list up to date.
