April 4th Show is Up!

Very interesting discussion about the dining package. My family LOVES the dining plan. We have never "paid" for it in the past. We have gone during free dining with our five kids and my nephew. It is so nice as a parent not to have a debate over food choices at every meal. I think that's why families, in particular, like the dining plan. Having 6 children at WDW with free dining is a big cost saver.

My kids never get a paid beverage when we eat out. We also never order desserts or appetizers. When we eat out we always have a discussion on what menu items they can order. They often want something that is not in our budget.

It's truely a vacation when my kids can order any menu option.

I totally understand how singles or couples do not see the value. Just ask any mother and she will tell you how the dining plan makes a Disney vacation less stressful.

Forgive the secon post...I couldn't get the edit option to load.

I wanted to add that the dining plan is a good option for any family who has children who are older than the Disney 3-9 rules. I know my younger kids are not huge eaters and paying $30-$40 for a buffet is crazy. They get adult credits on the dining plan, so we don't have to ask the kids to share meals or miss out on restaurant options because of cost. :thumbsup2

I couldn't wait for iTunes to download the podcast so I just listened to it on the site. What a great show!!

I think the podcast crew is living in the past this week. Silly John, it isn't 2011 anymore.

I listen to the podcast every week and enjoy it very much. :goodvibes

A little feedback about the DHS 101 dining segment...

- It was said that the snack locations like Herbie's or KRNR, or if those snack locations aren't listed on the guide map, that they don't take the dining plan. While it's right that they don't (or may not) offer quick service dining options, they all have dining plan snack credit options to choose from. (Across the parks there is a limited set of snack or kiosk locations that can't process dining plan snack credits, so this can mean something.)

- Teresa and Kathy said they tried Backlot Express. But the location they described, next to the Studio Backlot Tour, is actually Studio Catering Co. The Backlot Express restaurant is next to Star Tours. I admit this is confusing because you'd think the Backlot Express would be next to the Backlot Tour, but by name the places are in different locations in the park.

- It was said that the Fantasmic! dinner package required two dining plan table service credits. I checked again and the credits required are the same as if you had a regular dinner at the participating restaurants. So it's one credit for the F! package at Mama Melrose and Hollywood & Vine and two credits at Brown Derby.
