April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Wonder to Hawaii- who is with me?

Some of the past cruises I've been on, yes, the lanyard team counted that as their FE gift if they were participating. We've also had other team gifts for FEs (mouse pads, dry erase boards with logo, etc)

.

Thanks, that's what I'm use to as well. I just want to clarify it for this group so anyone affected knows what is expected.

I am on the lanyard team and wondering everyone's opinion on using it as my FE gift. What are your thoughts?

I'm planning on it being my FE gift.

Several people have PM'd me and asked me I would do a "Welcome Wagon" post like I am doing on the WBTA thread.

If organizers of the events are interested, I will be happy to do one like the WBTA which I post every time someone new says they are going on the trip as a welcome and reminder of all of the events.

Here is the WBTA post.

Let me know what you guys think.

Noel

You do that great, Noel! GO FOR IT ( if you have time)

so I don't want to start any sort of political dialogue or bru-haha here on the thread....but I am excited to say that we aren't certain about details because we haven't set a firm date yet...but that there is a VERY good chance that following the vote last night in the NY state senate that this cruise to Hawaii will be my and Jason's official honeymoon!!!

(We're definitely getting married legally at the courthouse the first day the new law goes into effect so that we have the papers and benefits.....but then we're going to plan a ceremony/reception for friends and family later on with some time to plan....and one of our possible plans is to do it right before this cruise so that this can be our honeymoon :lovestruc:lovestruc)

YEAH! After years of bungling, New York state legislature finally got TWO things right - IN ONE DAY! It's about time!

Meet and Greet
I know that everyone is very busy on the first day but it still may be our best option for a Meet and Greet. We would have to figure out the best time and place. Possibly in the Promenade Lounge, time would have to be finalized closer to the cruise. Another option since there are so many sea days is to have the Meet and Greet a few days into the cruise.
My two previous cruises we had a casual meet by the pool. I liked the more relaxed first day of grabbing food at the buffet and sitting by the pool while the kids frolicked so well, that I did the same thing on our HAL Alaska cruise. I found this much more relaxed than the restraurant with carry on. The big difference on HAL being, we were the only ones there, and DD had the pool to herself! :)

That is great news! Can't wait to celebrate on the ship with you both! (You know, I am sure you could have Michael be your official "reception planner" :rotfl:)

I certainly know of many people who decide to do it this way...my only one thought would be that not everyone who does fish extenders also signs up for lanyards. So if you end up in a fish extender group with some people who do not get lanyards, then that might not work out. For instance, I just did a quick look and I see at least 17 people signed up for fish extenders who have not yet sent a note requesting lanyards so they are not on the lanyard list.

At the end of the day, however, I think it is really up to you....I don't think fish extenders were ever meant to to too stressful and are just a nice & fun gesture so whatever you decide to do that works for you will be perfect, I'm sure!:thumbsup2

Anyone know why DVC is unable to help with flight and pre-stay non-Disney hotels for the cruise to Hawaii?

Tried to use Disney to price flights, a pre-stay hotel near the port and ground transportation between the airport, hotel, terminal,Grand Cal, and airport but they are not providing this type of service. I could get Disney help with all of this if I booked directly with DCL, but since I used DVC points I'm out of luck. DVC could even help if we were doing the Mexican Riviera trip which would use the same airports, terminal, ship and the ship even stops in the same two countries.

I know Disney prices can be a little higher but I enjoy the ease of booking, the service and the ability to use my Disney card to save on interest. They did a great job on our WBTA last year. I hoped that that they could do it again.

Anyone else have the same problem or feeling? What are you doing for flights, rooms and transportation?:confused3

Wahoo! We found space available! We put down our deposit last night! Now hopefully we'll be able to get off work!

Still lurking - but we would be on DVC - we cannot use Disney transportation if we are DVC :scared1::scared1::scared1:

I found private transportation was a lot less money!!! from DLR to the port Disney wanted 45.00 and the private company (with MY choice of pick up time) was 30.00...no brainer! (then friends ended up taking me over after all...free - best price yet!)

I think a poolside meet would be pretty difficult with a group this large.

Arranging it yourself will save you SO much money it will be worth the time, especially if you can fly Southwest. We can get a non-stop to Vegas and then it's just a short hop down the hill to any one of the several airports in the LA area.

I used Karmel Shuttle in LA from Port to hotel and hotel to airport, after the PC cruise. Found the recommendation on the DIS Disneyland board and was really pleased. I think we paid 20 ish dollars each on each of trip - and it's a good ways. The drivers were prompt and helpful.

Can't wait to see you again! Looks like you got moved to Alaska okay? How's it going up there?

Well, if we tell him too soon, and you end up staying with him the night before the cruise, just be forewarned...................................

I am making my own hotel reservations this time! :rotfl:

I am on the lanyard team and wondering everyone's opinion on using it as my FE gift. What are your thoughts?

:thumbsup2 FE is supposed to just be fun. Whatever you decide is good. :goodvibes
Kugalbelle- I sent you a PM. The first day on ship for the Meet and Greet would be good but usually everyone is hurrying to get back to their rooms for the life boat drill and we really do not get enough time to actually talk to many people. Whatever you decide I will be willing to help.

3 pm gives an hour to meet before having to get to drill. First meet would allow us to get faces with those names so that when we do see each other we can feel comfortable approaching and chatting. There may be several DIS activities throughout the cruise where we will be able to spend more time talking with those we have met.

Wahoo! We found space available! We put down our deposit last night! Now hopefully we'll be able to get off work!

:yay::yay: Aloha!! :dance3:

Congrats! We also would love to help you celebrate your honeymoon on the ship!

We have done it both ways, sometimes we count the lanyards as our FE gift, and sometimes we do a separate FE gift - so go with whatever you want!!!

Welcome to all the newcomers!

Can't wait to be back onboard and see you as well! We made it to Alaska just a week ago. It was a long 8 day drive up from Texas, but the weather is beautiful and we have a beautiful view of the mountains out our window! Now I definitely think it's time for a cruise!
