We don't need passports? Okay, now I'm confused. What is a closed loop cruise? Why would we not need a passport for Mexico? Does that mean ya don't need a passport for the other Disney cruises leaving out of Port Canaveral? I could have sworn our friends had to get them to leave from Charleston to go to Nassau.

The closed loop means that you are leaving and coming back to the same port. You don't "have" to have a passport because of the closed loop cruise UNLESS you have to FLY back to the US from Mexico. They highly recommened that you do have a passport in case there is an emergency and you have to fly back, or for some reason you miss the ship out of Mexico and have to fly back.

We're back from our 5 night Dream cruise and a few days at WDW. The cruise and ship were great, but man that ship is big. Our room was way at the front and a run to the drink station was an expedition! Florida was hot (imagine that) but we managed to have a good time.

Hawaii is the next cruise on our itinerary. Time to start planning!

Tina

I wish I had your dedication to get my scrapbook done before I went on my next cruise...I am so far behind...I still have to scrap the following:

Panama Canal May 2005 (up to day 8 of 14 days)
11 Night Southern Caribbean Cruise September 2006
NYE cruise 2006/2007
5 Night Double Dip September 2008
7 Night Caribbean Cruise March 2009
Maiden Voyage Disney Dream - Janaury 2011
and my most current cruises
6 night LA to Vancouver April 2011
7 Night Alaskan cruise May 2011

and that's just the cruises...I also have lots of WDW trips and 2 DL trips to scrap....

Elaine - my list is very similar!

Monica...I saw that you mentioned in a quote of Erik & Jason's post that Club 33 is on your bucket list....it too was on my bucket list and I was able to cross it off on Easter Sunday....

A very kind Disboarder got us a ressie for Club 33 back in October. We turned up only to find they were having "kitchen issues" and couldn't accommodate us :sad2: So they gave us a quick tour and bid us farewell. They did say we could have rebooked but we were flying back to NZ that afternoon so couldn't do it. Fingers crossed we will get to dine there on our ABD Backstage Magic tour next month!

DL is smaller, but there are some things there I really love - the Pooh ride is so much better - It's a small world even outside the ride is a visual feast - the Storybook boats - Toontown - love the monorail and the train - Mr. Toad's wild ride is short but cute - and the "Alice" ride vehicles are a hoot.
Now, my question is - before or after? After or before?

I love Pirates at DL - it knocks the socks off the WDW one!

In terms of before/after, I usually work it out based on flight times. After we get kicked off the ship (kicking and screaming), the first flight to NZ isn't until 9.30pm so we may spend one night near DL rather than hang around doing nothing much all day - we will be stuck with suitcases so its rather limiting otherwise.

I realized last night that I have been delinquent in providing the names of our lanyard team members to the group so you will all know who is teaming up to offer the free custom lanyards & name badges to anyone in our group who wants them!

Thank you again Lanyard Team!

I have only been on one disney cruise and i made and delivered my fe gifts myself to each stateroom, so i am not sure how groups work, could someone clarify? Thanks!

Groups are great - you will be put into a group of around 20-25 cabins and you just deliver to those cabins instead of every cabin. If you want to join multiple groups, that can be done too. If you delivered to every cabin for this sailing, you could conceivably have 150 cabins to take gifts for and luggage space/weight is a very real issue on a long cruise.

someone correct me if I am wrong, but I dont think you need passports to take this cruise, it is closed loop, even if you want to get off the ship in mexico.......experts, is this correct?:confused3

Yes I believe this is correct IF you are a US citizen with appropriate ID. The rest of us do need passports ;)

I know what you mean about long cruises. After going on them the 3-5 day cruises are not as appealing. Maybe we can next talk Disney into going to Australia- now that would be a long cruise.

I'd love one of the ships to be based this side of the pacific - sure beats these awful long haul flights!

Welcome back and see you next month! :)

Well, the lanyard list is slowing growing. We're over the 160 mark.

Also, just to let everyone know, in order to try to make sure there is no confusion I went into the main spreadsheet (with the roster and candy swap and fish extenders and everything) and added a tab marked "LANYARDS"-----but on that sheet rather than creating columns for people to sign up for lanyards, I put the directions for people to sign up...so now anyone who goes to that sheet should know how to get their lanyards.

For anyone on here who is new and interested in lanyards, just send me an email to dcl.hawaii.lanyards@gmail.com In your email include your DIS name(s), first name(s) and a stateroom #.

If you want to see the lanyard list so far to make sure you're there and your info is correct, click HERE.

that may be a reality sooner than later (*cough* 2013 *cough*)....on the inaugural Alaskan cruise, Russell, the future cruise desk CM was talking to a bunch of us and asked if we thought anyone would be interested in DCL going to Australia and by the end of the cruise we advised Russell that we had approximately 50 couples that were interested....so you just never know....

I couldn't even begin to imagine your disappoinment...I will keep my fingers crossed that you'll be able to dine at Club 33 next month...

I'd also love to hear about your ABD Backstage Magic tour....it's something that I would love to do....I wonder if it is offered before or after our Hawaii cruise....wouldn't that be something...it would save me the airfare (I mean I have to fly out for the cruise...why not add in an ABD while I'm in LA). Does anyone know when the 2012 itineraries are announced?

AW!! Russell didn't ask US that!!! Add me and Jason to your list :thumbsup2

:lmao::lmao::lmao: I spy your cruise total there Deb!!! I am jealous of how you can just pop to Florida for a cruise, or even just a stay. Let's not mention live!!;)

OK, you do have a point there.....I like living on the East Coast where it's convenient to get to WDW and Port Canaveral. Soon I'll be even closer by living in Florida when John retires. Just a year and a half to go. .....But who's counting?!? Ha Ha.

They should be out in August - not that we are waiting impatiently for that or anything!

It would be interesting to see if Australia is on the 2012 list. If so you could add us to the list.

Since we are dreaming of a DCL Australian cruise, lets give it even more thought. Do you think DCL would cruise in our fall/winter since it would be spring/summer in Australia, right??

ALOHA from the island of Oahu. Made an appointment out at DVC Aulani for Thursday. Tony and I will get an on property tour (been informed we will be in hard hats) due go continuing construction. We saw the building from the air last week when we were on approach. I will take lots of pictures but will need help posting as I've never done it before. I may have better luck on FB.

Also went to the Disney store at the Ala Moana today and scored some great Hawiian themed Minnie and Tinkerbell tee shirts. :cheer2::cheer2:

We are sooooooooooooo jealous. Have a great time- How many BJ ,Costo and Sam' Clubs are there for TOny to tour?

You are not done with Panama yet?:scared1:
Hang in there Kid. You'll get them done one day. :goodvibes
Maybe you could find a recent retiree to help.:rolleyes1

Like your graphic ! So cute. :thumbsup2

We're back! We had a fabulous time in Alaska! Beautiful weather - no jacket needed in the ports. Only problem was the heavy blanket of fog at Hubbard Glacier - we couldn't see a thing. We saw lots of wildlife - in Sitka we did the Sea Otter and Wildlife Quest, which has a policy that if you don't see a Sea Otter, Whale, or a Bear they give you a partial refund. We were joking that they were going to make us pay more since we saw all 3. :lmao:, as well as lots and lots of bald eagles, and sea lions. In Juneau we saw both Humpbacks and Orca's. There were babies (sea otters and whale) so cute!!!!

Anyway, I'm very happy to be home sleeping in my own bed and able to catch up on our dis thread! My exciting news was I checked my DCL reservation and I have a stateroom! Yippee! I have no idea when it was assigned from the GTY, since I haven't checked for weeks - but Woo Hoo! So, I'll be updating the lists soon, yeah! BTW - Erik and Jason I also sent the lanyard email for us, (finally - ;) )

:surfweb:

Interesting........I would want to go either way.:) I would like to think they would go when it's spring/summer.
