Hey all----

Just wanted to post a little update about lanyards. Jason and I are going to take the lead on lanyards as we promised before our Alaska trip....but it's going to take us a couple weeks to get our system up and running. Once we have it figured out we will post directions here (and then probably regularly every other week or so after that until the trip).

Erik

Hi Erik and Jason,
Glad you're home safe and sound. Thanks for all the laughs and lively conversation on the Repo/AK cruise! Now that I'm home I can go back and relive everything thru your blog! :thumbsup2

Count us in for the lanyard team... I'm sure all the usual suspects will contribute as well. Thanks for picking this up as Ken and Shari won't be joining us.. :sad1:

I think this cruise, with being such a special one as there aren't any more YET, filled with repeat cruisers, and many of us have cruised together before. But, we all love to meet 'new to us' cruisers and by the time this cruise comes along we should all know each other pretty well!!!!!:dance3: Please slap us all if we get a bit too cliquey though!!! We really don't want to appear that way.

It is going to be a fabulous cruise!:yay:

What she said!

Cloudy and rainy day here in Cheyenne also! Beginning to wonder if spring will ever show up, or if we will just jump right into (hot) summer!

Have a great day cruisers!

Hi there neighbor :) I feel so lost here...seems a lot of people know each other for ages :) We just finished our first cruise and I still feel like a newbie.

I am about as lost as you are. This will only be the 2nd cruise for me and my boys, and the first for my Mom. We went on a 4 night Bahama's cruise last September. So, I am in the newbie class with you!..

My plan for Kauai is ziplining! :cool1: Something I've always wanted to do and hopefully will finally have a chance. :yay:

I have never been ziplining, and am looking forward to trying it!.. Sounds like GREAT fun!.. :thumbsup2.. I have been parasailing, and it was awesome, so this is my next adventure!

I did the Alaska canopy zipline in Ketchikan... my first zipline (bucket list item) it was awesome... yet terrifying!!! :scared1: I gave new meaning to the term "tree hugger"!!! :rotfl:

I am so sorry if any of you felt excluded or less then welcome. Please know we have all been the newbie at one time and hopefully all were made as welcome I was. If we are ever talking about anything that you are not clear about please ask. One thing I can say we are good at, or guilty of, depending on how you look at it, is sharing information. We are happy to help. Our enthusiasm is also an excuse to relive our past cruises. Also, remember, I am sure you have info you can share with us that we will appreciate too.

New cruisers you will make a lot of new friends. Wear your lanyard and Disboarders will come up and talk to you. We made a lot of new friends on our cruises. It was just my husband and I but everywhere we went on the ship we would find some Disboarders. It made the cruises a lot more enjoyable.

Thank you everyone for so many kind words.....I'm still trying to go through all the pages, it's fun to read all the experience you guys had already, I learn a lot this way.

My kids cried so hard when we left Magic last week, but we didn't tell them that we book this cruise for next year. It will be surprise for them....maybe as a Christmas present. :)

Val, you expressed my feelings perfectly!! I could not have said it any better!!

Let me tell you...DIS board is fantastic.....I would be so lost without this board and all helpful people with all the information.

I'm sure for us newbies will take some time to get all figure it out.....but as you all said...we have a whole year to get to know each other. :)

And as MousseauMob mentioned...."sponsor the landyard" what is this? Can someone explain or point me in right direction?

The person who makes the DIS lanyards pays the cost to make the lanyards. People om the DIS boars will contribute to this person usually via PayPal to help defray the costs.

ANYBODY EVER DONE THIS AND HAS SUGGESTIONS? I WOULD LOVE THIS TO BE ADDED TO THE ACTIVITIES PAGE.....I WILL BE IN CHARGE:yay:

Hi everyone! Just checking in from St Maaren. The cruise has been wonderful so far! Hawaii is all the buzz aboard the ship. So excited to be booked on this one!!! My husband and I just keep talking about how wonderful this cruise is going to be.

I was on the same cruise Brooklyn. We booked onboard too! :)

Hi Lexa,

Don't worry about being a newbie....we all were at 1 point :lmao:

It does get to the point where you will find yourself sailing again (& again) with some of the same people....there are alot of us that LOVE the longer cruises & days at sea, so we jump at the special itineraries. I love recognizing people while out & about on the ship (or on land). Even if I don't know the DISer well, I can still say HI or smile & know that I will get the same in return. Know that you can always find someone who will take YOUR picture when needed & will help answer questions you may have.

We were strangers once and I know I now have lifelong friends (and I do tend to sail together/on purpose with them).

That's 1 thing I really  about the DISboards - we're accepting of each other as most of us have this HUGE  for Disney (& DCL) in common :goodvibes

How does one got about getting these very popular talked about lanyards?

I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but a helicopter ride will be researched :surfweb: as not sure where to do this (and how much it will cost). I do want to snorkle/snuba in the Molokini Crater (on Maui). Pearl Harbor is a must do/see.

They are usually distributed on embarkation day (in terminal/up on deck/sail away party) or on pre-embarkation day meets. Erik & Jason will keep us informed so that no one misses out.

BTW - I will gladly contribute to the lanyard team :thumbsup2

Val, you expressed my feelings perfectly!! I could not have said it any better!!

I can't say that I have ever felt excluded, just lost!.. When we did our Bahama criuse, we had a DIS thread, but it was not near as busy as this one. I am guessing that being that this is a 15 night cruise, there is just more time to plan and do new things. 4 nights just isn't enough time to get to know to many people, let along do the bingo's, and the workshops that the cruisers plan. This is where I become lost. On the last cruise we were on, nothing was ever mentioned about lanyards, etc. I think the FE is about as much of an organized "event" that we had.

But thanks to everyone for making us feel more and more welcome!...

Okay, gang, checking in here. I could have sworn I had checked in before, but couldn't see me on the list, so here I am.

Trying to wrap up things from the "Wonder"ful time on the repo and Alaska cruise.

For Hawaii, plans are for me and my daughter Jamie to join (unless she gets some crazy idea to go work at WDW again next summer.) She is thoroughly enjoying working in entertainment and she has a dance rehearsal next Monday for some show (not sure what she is doing.) She is "Great friends" with about 10 different Disney Characters so far!

I will plan on doing a themed Hawaii Disney Scrapbook class for this cruise. I have actually already found a couple of themed papers that will work perfectly. For those that have cruised with me before, you know the drill.
Go ahead and send me a PM with your info and stateroom number and a couple of months before the cruise I will post the date, time, place and cost for the class and what we will be doing. For Alaska we did a 12 x 12 book (well we started it anyway--long story--but for those on that cruise, your final paper is going in the mail and on its' way to you).

I am headed next for a really quick trip to go see my daughter at WDW and get pictures of her!

I'll keep checking back. Looks like we already have a chatty group!

To all the new people out there, don't stress. I have been on 9 DCL cruises and not once have I done any type of FE or anything. All by choice, partially because I can't wrap my mind around it. There has always been enough going on on the ship were I have to yet participate in a Dis activity. Again by choice. I just like it here so I can talk to people and maybe make a new friend or two.
