Traditional Hawaiian, doesn't have fire dancers, that actually came from other Polynesian islands. But who knows maybe they could get special permission like they did for the fireworks? ;)

I'm sure I'll have my Kindle loaded up with everything I need, but I wouldn't mind bringing a couple of books for donation.

I'm in for Palo Brunch! I'm planning on doing a Palo's dinner and a brunch even if it means going by myself, but if there's a group or others to join, even better. :goodvibes

Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us for any meal..we are married 30+ years...what else can I say?.Your company will only add to the fun! PM me anytime.

I have a color Nook if anyone wants to "Lend Me" or be lent a book let me know!

:)

ABC Stores sells more macadamia nuts, suncare products, souvenirs and other visitor-related products than anyone else in the state. Like most convenience store chains ABC Stores has multiple outlets; seventy-eight stores that span the Pacific from our home base - Hawaii to Guam and Saipan, along with our newest location - Las Vegas, Nevada.

Today there are ABC Stores on every major island in the State of Hawaii and the ABC concept has been exported to Guam, Saipan and Las Vegas.

ABC Stores employs more than 900 Associates. Almost all the stores open 365 days a year from 6:30 AM to 1 AM.

Sounds like you are an Associate !
And sounds like I will be able to find ABC stores easily! Will I find chocolate covered macadamia nuts in Mickey Mouse boxes at all the stores? Do they come on one size package or various sizes?
Thanks ::yes::

Oh no, not an associate. I don't know if you will find the nuts in mickey mouse boxes at any of the ABC stores, don't think I remember seeing them. You will find a number of different brands in different packages. If you go and get them at the resort I would think they would have them in MM packages. They do come in different size packages from sample size to cartoons for travel.

The only problems I heard about was from the MV on the Dream.

I am sooooo sorry you wen't through that. Part of the problem was the number of kids/teenagers on board. They were overwelmed by the response. Not thought out at all.:sad2: I know that wasn't pleasant and I probaly walked right by you trying to get away from there.

Don't even mention that fiasco. Did I mention that while I was in line to pay for my purses - got one for me and DD, I had one stolen off the counter? It was rung up and paid for and waiting to be bagged when both the cashier and I literally turned our heads away for literally 15 seconds and POOF! It had walked. Cashier made an announcement to please someone bring it back but of course no one did. It was horrendous....

A CM who was standing in line was talking to the Store mgr, he suggested he hand out numbers and he finally got smart and did it. But you would think they would have thought of that beforehand. It was a nightmare.

Even on the PC in Jan, they had the same problem. I hope they have things ironed out by the time we get on there.

As for Aly and AJ, had a friend get slammed by a sea of kids, she had to have her head checked out when they came rushing through Route 66 to get at them. Not to mention that they found out where they were staying and bothered the others passengers on the same floor. SIGH, hopefully they will have had all that figured out.

I agree and I am concerned it will be the same baloney on this cruise as we saw on the 2011 PC cruise. The Fantasy maiden voyage is within 30 days of our cruise. I think one big issue had to do with the crew staffing issues. They were unsettled due to the move and the fact many of them had not worked with each other before, they were not a team. We could see this same problem if there is a big move to staff the Fantasy.

Val, I think you're right on. Hadn't even thought of that before. :confused3

On the subject of when final payment is due. My docs from DCL say my final payment is due on 2-14-12. When looking at my reservation on-line it said I could start reserving activities on 1-15-12, 105 days before the trip because we are gold. BUT only if we are paid in full, which isn't due for a month. Those of you who are platinum and can book 120 days out, does that mean you would have to be paid in full by 12-31-11 if you want to take advantage of early booking? Kinda reduces the perk doesn't it?
val
My final payment id due Devember 1, 2011

...That pineapple dole whip sounds good about now.:)

Online, they still are offering:
Hawaiian Host chocolate covered macadamia nuts in 2 oz boxes (4 pieces of candy) for $3.19 or a 6-box set for $18.79. They have Mickey & Minnie, LILO & Stitch, and Hello Kitty designed boxes.

I imagine they are offering the same in stores. They were in stores in Feb 2010, still online in April 2011, so who knows for May 2012?

Oh I love my Nook!! Do you have the color one? That is what I have. It was great for our last vacation.

I don't think that there many of us from Lansing.

I only know of one other, my co-worker (she's JanDave on DIS, but is not on this cruise).

We did the WBTA with them and they gave me directions to come visit them :)

We did the WBPC in 2008 with them. I didn't get to see much of anybody that cruise (long story), but know how sweet they are from staying in touch on DIS threads. Wonderful couple! :thumbsup2

I agree with Val. The Wonder going to LA was left out in the cold by all the fuss for the Dream. The service was not up to Disney standards and there were so many new CM-no one really knew what to do. Hopefully , the Fantasy will not overshadow the Hawaiian cruise.

Started reading Hawaii by Cruise Ship. Got it at Barnes and Noble for $21.

When we took our kids to the luau at the Poly at WDW, our daughter-in-law said it was much nicer, more respectful of culture, and more entertaining than either of the two she attended when in Hawaii. She said the dancers in Hawaii had modern tattoes they did not hide, modern hair styles they did not change and an "attitude" that was palpable.

SO

I am happy to see what DCL does for us on board!

;)
I loved the one at the Poly too! Tyler, of course, screamed through most of it. But he was 3 and it was very late at night for him, so he was overtired and crabby. So it would be very nice to have one onboard if it's anything like the one they do at the Poly. :goodvibes

This is my biggest fear about this cruise. That is why I have been encouraging everyone to write to DCL.

I am taking a guess, but I think DCL will be very attentive to this particular cruise. Hawaii is a brand new venture for them, and with 4 ships now, it is an itinerary that will be sought after by travelers if the first one is a success.

I believe they were surprised at the rapid sell out (or close to) that occurred within the first 24 hours of bookings. They have the bar set high, and they know they will have to deliver in order to secure future bookings on the same itinerary.

Only time will tell.... :wizard:

I thought the same thing with this years PC cruise, boy was I wrong. I know they got a lot of service complaints from that cruise including one from me that was highlight by a formal complaint agenst Clayton. So I sure hope you are right.
