April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Wonder to Hawaii- who is with me?

Aloooha.

Have wanted to go to Hawaii since I was a kid and saw the Brady Bunch Goes to Hawaii episode.

Who is going to bring aboard the ancient cursed taboo tiki idol?

Might also have been one of the few passengers on the Wonder PC cruise who didn't really care if we got a sendoff or a welcome or whatever. The pin thing was a mess but I don't do pins so I wasn't in the line. Nor do I have the slightest idea who Ali and AJ are, someone want to enlighten?

Welcome on board.

This will be my 13th cruise on Disney so let's hope this is a lucky number instead of the Brady Bunch's totum. I was also on the Panama Crossing January 2011. It was the best time and I thought the Wonder was great, as always. The problem with the shortage of pins did provide for an excellent opportunity to observe group think in an environment of false urgency. I noticed that the lines got steadily longer as the hype grew. By the time the LA pins came up for sale, the line started at 7:00 pm the night before and the store didn't open until 10:00 am. I really enjoyed this social experiment. I think what they should do for the Hawaii cruise is what they did for the 11 night Southern Caribbean cruise. Disney had one pin on sale and that pin contained all of the ports.

Welcome on board.

Are you people nuts?!?! :lmao: Did I miss someone challenge us to try to post as many pages as possible per day?! The cruise is a year away and we're already at almost 70 pages?!? I've been joking and saying that I might have to quit my job next year to do this cruise if I don't get my time off approved....but I might have to quit earlier since keeping up with this thread is going to be a full time job all by itself! :lmao:

Anyhow...I can't possibly keep up...I skimmed like the last 30 pages......was a final decision made about how we're doing fish extenders? And has anyone looked into booking a charter coach or bus from the DisneyLand resort(s) to the port? So that we don't have to use the DCL transfers? We had them booked for the LA repo in a couple weeks and our pick up time was after noon....which is WAY too late for us!! If anyone is looking for volunteers to go in with them on a coach from DisneyLand to the port, Jason and I would gladly join the crew! (we haven't booked it yet because we don't own there....but we are really hoping to get DVC villas at Grand Californian for the Friday and saturday night before this trip....and if we can't then we may try to get one of the other onsite properties with our points).

As for other things.......

....someone asked out us making Hawaii vests....I doubt we will do that unless I can find some shiny/silk/satin DISNEY hawaii fabric. Disney hasn't been licensing much in the way of new satiny prints lately:eek:....so we haven't been able to make as many new sets as we have wanted.....I'm really on the prowl for Tiana and Rapunzel fabrics (ugh...why is everything polar fleece lately?!?!) to make more sets. We'll have ot see what kinds of fabric I can find by then.

...Ducky? We would love it if he was on this trip with us. We've been lucky enough to cruise with him several times....the first time being in 2005 on a 4 night on the Wonder-----that was our first time sailing with him and I was fortunate enough to win one of his sketches on that trip. It was a fun story, actually.....we just happened upon his lecture (and it was in the Buena Vista theater because I think it was one of the early cruises he was on so there weren't that many people there to see him). I won a sketch of Grumpy...which was fine....but a few numbers later the sketch I had REALLY wanted (Tigger, of course) came up and I knew I couldn't win it but really hoped Jason would.....but he didn't...another number got called....a woman who was in the front row and who happened to be a friend of Ducky and his partner's (we see her on cruises frequently and I wouldn't be surprised at all if we see her on this Hawaii trip too...although I can never remember her name). She won Tigger and as soon she did, Ducky started laughing and said, "Oh of course, just her luck-----she HATES the Pooh characters!" And without even thinking I shouted out, "I'll trade you for Grumpy!!!" and she turned around and said "DEAL!!" And now that large sketch of Tigger is framed on the wall in our Disney/Tigger/Roo basement (also our office/den/spare bedroom) with pictures of Ducky drawing it, Pictures of us with Ducky and the picture and the raffle ticket that won us the sketch (kinda)!:banana: It's one of my most prized possessions!:lovestruc

That is a fantastic story how you got your Tigger. I was lucky in that I did not like the Stitch (my favourite character after Figment) that he drew on the Panama Canal cruise or else it would have been torture to see it go to somebody else.

As to the pace of this thread, well this is the 2010 WBTA all over again. I am heading on a vacation in Dubai in 12 days and will be gone for 10 days and I don't even want to think how many pages I will have to catch up with when I get back home.

Well thank you for the nomination.....Jason and I would certainly be willing to do it.....are Ken & Shari (kpros) not on this cruise? If they are on this trip, then we would definitely be willing to let Ken take the lead on lanyards (since he's the king of the lanyard!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2)....if they aren't and we are DEFINITELY able to make the trip (something we should know by late this summer), then we would probably take the lead. We could certainly start the process at least and if we had to back out because of work (*knock on wood*), we could probably find someone to pass the baton on to.

That said, however, there is NO WAY that I would start thinking about this until after we get back from Alaska! :thumbsup2

I would love it if you find fabric for us....that would be awesome!

I hope that you will be able to come and will be able to do the lanyards for us. I loved the lanyards on the WBTA. I would be happy to contribute as well.

Okay, how come I feel so late to this post? They just announced sales a couple days ago and we are booking two rooms tomorrow....Well, please count the Davis-Bewley Family's in!!!! ALOHA.

I hope that you will be able to book what you want.

Corinna

Welcome!
Mark has just returned from weeks working in Seattle and will be travelling back later this year...... I'm hoping to come too :woohoo: ......... Maybe we should all have a mini meet!

:goodvibes
Great minds think alike! :rotfl: it was Bellevue he went to!

Off to visit with good friends from the DIS today, so have a good weekend everyone, only a year or so to go! :woohoo::

:littleangel:

Hi I am Judy aka pixiegran and I live in Redmond, next to or blended with Bellevue. I think a get together would be awesome.

OK.....so hearing that Ken & Shari have not been able to book this cruise, I guess that Jason and I WILL throw our hat in the ring to organize the lanyards. Like I said, that will not happen until after we return from the Alaska trip....but if you want to put a placeholder on post one (or wherever we are trying to centrally locate any info about this trip) that says that I am organizing lanyards and that official announcements will come out in early summer, then go for it!! I will likely do it just like I did on the WBTA....I'll create an email address to which people can register for their lanyards and then I'll create a google spreadsheet that people can view (but probably not edit---in order to keep goofs and mistakes to a minimum) with people's names and stateroom #'s. I will also make a post once I get back inviting people to volunteer to join the lanyard team and help contribute towards the cost of the lanyards and name badges. So keep an eye open for those posts in late May/early June.

I feel your pain...I don't think I can ever catch up on the first 60 pages I missed...But I would love to have a charter vehicle of some sort and leave early for the port. I am happy to look into it. I can see another spreadsheet in the making. This is getting way out of control with the Google spreadsheets! :lmao::lmao:

OK, fabulous.....let me know what you find out. We are on a group charter of a coach next week for Alaska, so I can also ask the organizer of that when we get there and maybe get a business card from the driver. The good thing about the coach they have scheduled is that it's only $15/person (tip included) and it's leaving early (like 8am) so we're sure to get good boarding numbers.

Didn't realise you guys were doing Alaska aswell, Lucky ducks!:dance3: Why won't Disney cruise in Australia, the airfares are killers for us, especially now since there will be 5 of us! :scared1:

I will check for fabric next week and take photo's of any satins and PM you with them. I only live about 15 minutes from a big store, so it's no drama to drop by. :)

Yeah, we would love a DCL cruise to Australia. Australia is one of our bucket list items.....once we get done doing every DCL trip known to man we're considering the Adventures by Disney trip to Australia! :thumbsup2

Bruce & I are also willing to help support the Lanyards/id cards.

After the PC Cruise, we used Karmel Shuttle that had been recommended over on the Disneyland board - it was a 15 passenger van - the driver was on time, dealt with the luggage - we were pleased. He took us to Candy Cane Inn (~$65 for 3) and then 3 seperate trips to two airports for $16 plus tip each. It's a good option if y'all don't get enough people for a bus.

Erik and Jason, KEWL Beans on you moving forward with the Lanyards,as we have helped with many a lanyard team let us know.

That's amazing of you! You both did such a great job on the WBTA ones, and wearing them made it so much easier to spot and make new friends, thank you! We will be happy to contribute when you're ready :goodvibes

Beth and Harry - it will be great to see you again! We finally finished off the chocolate expresso beans from the PC cruise, and I made Scott pick up more the last time he went to Seattle - we cannot get decent ones here!
Catherine - great that you will be on this cruise also!

Count us in... :dance3:

Georgiana's first cruise was the EBPC in 2008 with Melody.
This will be Melody's seventh Disney cruise.

I am from Delaware and Melody is from Florida.

Any other cruisers from the EBPC in 2008?

I'll put a bus / van / flying broom spreadsheet on Goggle with the other ones, and a placeholder for you guys. You two should stop in Seattle before / after Alaska -- I'll buy you lunch :cool1::cool1:

I loved the Tigger story, btw!

Aloha to you all!!! Glad you are joining us. :woohoo:

Good morning to you Jackie. It has been a beautiful day here and should be lovely all week. I guess we will soon have water restrictions in place at this rate!:lmao:

We would be interested in a charter from the hotel to the pier and then back. So far we have the Disney transfers which cost $30 a person.

Aloha everyone. I know we are flying out 2 days before and I want to do DL since I never did. I also wanted to do the typical tourist sightseeing LA city tour. I have groups room rates at both the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach and the DoubleTree in San Pedro. (Thought both prices were high but told it's CA). I'm going to check into prices of hotels in Anaheim. I did contact a limo/transporation company to inquire about the rates picking up at LAX and dropping off at a hotel; and possibly picking up at the hotel and dropping off at DL; and picking up at the hotel and doing a private sightseeing tour. It's too early to book the airfare . Any idea how many people will be flying in 2 days before and interested in transporation from LAX to a hotel (hopefully many of us will book at the same hotel and party ) ?

Erik and Jason - loved the lanyards from the WBTA cruise. I'd also like to contribute towards the lanyards. It'll be great seeing you both again.

Bev

Would love to do a early charter but can it pick up at Non Disney hotels such as the Candy Cane Inn. I am not sure we will stay on property this time. I do not want to give up 48 points for 2 nights for a studio even if I can get in one. We have a small contract and this is a lot of points for us. If we do stay it will be one night at Candy Cane and one night on property. Anyone stay there? I do not recomend Prime Time. Super Shuttle was on time to take us back to the hotel too.

This morning DS4 was watching Phineas and Ferb and the episode was set in Hawaii. I then told him that in a little over a year we would be in Hawaii too. He jumped up and down with excitement. Way too cute.
