I didn't hear about the tornado. That's not common is it ? Glad you are safe.

I wouldn't say they are common here, however we are currently under a tornado watch in Ontario. This is different than a tornado warning. A watch means that it could happen, all the elements are there however one hasn't formed. A warning means one is forming or most likely to form.

Woke up last night feeling like someone was kicking the bed. Nope, it was just an aftershock.

I hope that Irene will give you a wide berth. Stay safe.

Well I just got a email a few min ago. Looks like if I go anywhere it will be either Balitmore, Norfolk, D.C., Laguardia, Long Island, Religh, Provadence, Manchester, Boston, or Newark. Please excuse my spelling.

Where is everyone tonight? You can't all be preparing for a hurricane :lmao:.

I'm really glad for once that we're not on a cruise ship in the Caribbean! Once was probably enough (though sailing in hurricane season IS a good deal...so odds are we will do it again ;)).

I was thinking the same thing! :confused3 We are usually quite the chatty group! :goodvibes

Seriously though, I hope everyone fares well with Irene bearing down on the east coast :scared1:

Good luck and stay safe all!

I have been having a LOT of trouble getting disboard to refresh for the last 24 hrs...may be why there isn't a lot of activity.

Maybe it's the storm activity near Florida affecting the DIS server :confused3 The news reports say Irene is about 800 miles wide :scared1:

When it finally refreshes, we'll probably have a dozen pages to catch up on :surfweb: That's assuming I even have power or internet when she passes by!! If that's the case, I'll have 2 dozen pages to read!!

Good luck to everyone in her path! Stay safe!

Good luck with Irene. I have just been telling my niece what we normally do when preparing for severe weather and possible power loss. She can't believe she is getting her first hurricane the same week as her first earthquake:) I am so glad I live in Seattle now and not Louisiana...so far no hurricanes on west coast:thumbsup2

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :thumbsup2

Have a great cruise

Do you mean we have this many people and almost 300 pages of postings and it wasn't even on the cruise meet list? Good grief

That's too funny. Well after looking at the latest Irene tracking, I better pack my bag. I have a feeling that I will be moved from Stand By to Deployed very soon. Where I go I have no clue but I am there so our local station employees can tend to their families and homes and I am happy to help. To all that are now potentulay in harms way, I hope you stay safe and are prepared.

I've still got a few pages to read so some of these may have already been answered.

Is anyone set up to link the early dining? If not, I can take this on. Not sure what needs to be done, but I'm sure someone could help me out :thumbsup2

There is a list on the spreadsheet for people interested in linking for early dining. YukonGirl123 has noted she's happy to organize it so may like to discuss it with her.

Last time we were on Maui, we took a whale-watching cruise. The Pacific Whale Foundation (whose tour boat we rode), guarantees whale sightings thru May 15. Here's their link: http://www.pacificwhale.org/

Do you think whales would still be in the area by the time we go?

We sailed with NCL a few years back in April and we saw whales daily - before we even left Honolulu Harbour, from the beach, from the ship - they were everywhere we looked!

On a few occasions they came us so close to the ship that we heard their breathing - this alerted us to them being along side. I think its very likely we will see whales.

We did do a whale watching trip with the Pacific Whale foundation and wished we'd not bothered as we saw so many from the ship in the end :rotfl2:

Alan, if you get sent to Albany, NY, Call me :)

I hope Irene doesn't affect anyone too badly. Stay safe.

Even this far inland, everyone is planning to batten down the hatches. We are SO glad we bought a whole house generator!

I can't believe we are in CT and not FL preparing for a hurricance. We were supposed to go camping this weekend and got a call from the state park advising everyone not to come until at least Tuesday. We are trying to get all outside stuff inside, get some extra food and take the generator from the camper and put it in the house. It will not run the house but will probably run the sump pump in our basement if we need it. The TV is loaded with warnings etc. and some schools that were going to start on Monday have been cancelled already. Suer hope it goes more out to sea and everyone is safe. Prayers are with my Disboard family.

Thanks, Paula. We'll look forward to seeing them.

I'm so jealous; I wish we had one, too. As it is, we'll have all of our daughters and granddaughters here for the duration :scared1:.

Amen!
