Boy and I learning a lot from this board

Me too! :thumbsup2 For our cruise last year, these boards were priceless. I felt bad because I had soooo many questions. (I was also on cruisecritic.com asking lots of questions) :guilty:

We recently had a good discussion on this forum about being "too prepared." That is, knowing exactly what's going to happen at every second of every day. But when things don't go exactly as planned, some folks tend to react negatively. So the consensus was the old cliche - hope for the best, plan for the worst. ;) I think someone said "as long as the ship's not sinking, we'll have fun!" :lmao:

Welcome, Kelly.
My kids are a bit older than yours....my dd will be almost 14. My ds is 11. :)

I think someone said "as long as the ship's not sinking, we'll have fun!" :lmao:

Yup, that was probably me.
Maybe it's because I've cruised so many times before. Maybe because I've seen the wreck people have become when they try to plan plan plan. Maybe b/c I've seen families who are clearly not having a good time because one person in the family is grump b/c things aren't "going their way."

I dunno what it is, but I'm not over-planning this cruise. Heck, I'm hardly PLANNING it! I'll be lucky to have the right clothes to wear when it comes time to pack (which isn't now, it'll be a few days before the cruise)

Because ya know what??? I'm SICK of being a grown up. Right, Mary??

Like Karen I've seen it all as far as over planners, expectations set too high, and people being disappointed because it wasn't the trip of a lifetime they expected.

Instead I go with the expectations only of seeing wonderful beauty and being with the man I love.

Now having said that I will firmly admit that I am a planner. I love planning and enjoy it just as much as the actual cruise. Still for this one I haven't planned nearly as much as I have on others. This is definately going to be a more layed back cruise for us.

myers family did i read a trip report by you? just curious cause it kind of rings a bell. of course i could be totally wrong, the name is just somehow farmiliar.:confused3

Im soo ready to start packing. I need to first clean my house. I have been doing ww for almost 2 weeks and have lost 5 pounds. I figure if I can stick to it for the next few weeks, I can afford to have fun on the cruise!

Good morning everyone! TGIF!

The weatherman is still saying winter storm warning for us but we haven't seen anything yet. Here's hoping it misses us as I'll be happy if we don't see any more snow. :lmao:

Have a great day everyone!

I'm just trying to build up the excitement - here is a cut n paste from the community boards: :)

All Aboard show - worth seeing? Having never seen a show on DCL in our past cruises...is the first night show worth going?

And maybe it's just me but there seems to be such a sense of excitement in the air. Almost like a continuation of the sail away party. I always feel like I want to burst with happiness!:goodvibes

It really sets up the whole cruise.

It's a mixture of a broadway show plus the two acts.

The show part is a family that has just boarded the "Disney Magic" for their first family cruise together. And the boy has a dream, to someday be the captain of the ship.

The farewell show on the last night wraps up the story.

Taking the kids to the movies. College Road Trip.

I'm (somewhat) new to the board - my DH is ldcruisers :goodvibes I'm getting EXCITED! We have packed and unpacked and packed again. DH is the over-planner in this family! But I love to wing it; either way we always have a good time. I love becoming a "child" again :dance3: Can't wait to get on the plane, can't wait to stand on Main Street, USA, can't wait to hear that wonderful horn on the ship, can't wait to meet everyone, can't wait for EVERYTHING!:cheer2:

Welcome debsants pixiedust: great to see others posting. We have another couple of questions those plastic ID carriers everyone wears around their necks with the kttw cards will they also hold passports too for when you get off the ship and are they water tight. Also does anyone know will they ship alcohol via fedex or ups from st Martin or st Thomas we know you cannot carry alcohol on planes any longer
