Eileen received her passport today no word on mine. We are flying in a day early and staying a day latter. Taking a cruise poll of all who are thinking of participating in any of the tastings on board.

Tastings? You bet!

I plan on tasting the stollen bread at Palo Brunch.

I plan on tasting the chicken fingers out by the pool.

I plan on tasting some ice cream by the pool.

I plan on tasting some creme brulee and chocolate lava cake.

Oh you meant the wine, beer or martini tastings. No, not my thing. Sorry Mike just couldn't resist. :lmao:

:rotfl2: meet you by the chicken fingers mary.

Passports: I spoke with someone from the Passport Agency, and she said it would take 6 weeks max to get our passports renewed. My DW got her picture done this morning so we should have those applications out this week.

PALO BRUNCH: I don't know the chances of finding an opening, but I'd like to have lunch on one of the sea days; but not the day of the formal dinner. I tried to reserve a spot yesterday but was denied since I haven't paid for the cruise in full. I've still only made the down payment.

St. Maarten and St. Thomas:
We're still trying to decide what to do. I started a thread in the Q&A boards. We don't want to leave the kids on this ship; I've heard of people doing this but it doesn't sound like a good thing to do. Sooooo, we'll be shlepping the 5 and 8 year old around the islands.

OTHER SHTUFF: With little to watch on TV, we've grown fond of 'Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.' They're not playing the American version, but we are catching episodes on BBC.

I wish they would hang that guy from Aruba, Van Der Sloot. (reference the Natalee Holloway case). We were in Aruba 2 months before she disappeared.

I'll be tasting the same things as Mary. But I'll be adding vanilla sauce from the kids menu to the chocolate lava cake (mary will too, she just didn't come out and say it!)
And maybe not the chicken fingers. Not a fan. But I'll substitute pizza.

And we've left the kids on the ship while we've been off. We tell the kids they MUST stay in the club or lab and we let the counselors know we'll be off the ship. As soon as we get back on the ship we check in with everyone. There has never been a problem. The kids are 13 and 11 now, but when we started cruising in 2003, they were close to your kids' ages, zerog

Oh yeah - how could I forget the vanilla sauce with the chocolate lava cake. Yummy!

BTW are the kids still planning on hitting the Mickey Pool first thing? I'm thinking we could hang out with you guys there and maybe I'll get my Chicken Finger and Ice Cream fix early. :)

UTOP with Karen and the yummy tastings of the Disney Magic.

PDFG and all our friends who need it.

You've gotten some great response on the main boards. My 2 cents:

St. Martin - very easy to take a water taxi into town and there is a beach there. We've just really shopped a bit. We did the Sea and See tour on our first trip to the Island and it wasn't bad.

St. Thomas - we're going to St. Johns for this trip. I've done it before but Mark never has. What we have done in the past and enjoyed is to take a taxi over to Coki Beach/Coral World. We did this back in December 2004 and it was really easy to do on our own. Also we went to Paradise Point which is right by the dock. Great views from up there and one of my favorite t-shirt shops (really good quality) plus a cute little bird show.

we agree with you Zerog about that Vander Sloot character Aruba has really messed this one up.

made a couple more reservations 12 meter regatta St Martin and double jet ski at castaway cay

As for tastings we did the wine tasting on our Western cruise and found it interesting planning to do that again also think Ive talked Eileen into the Tequila tasting think I'm on my own for the Beer tasting. thought id add Eileen is doing great on her diet almost at 10 lbs now and counting

St. Thomas - we're going to St. Johns for this trip.

WDW: Thanx for the advice. I had heard (somewhere) that St. Johns has a very nice beach. For now, I'm leaning that way - but plenty of time to change my mind.

St. John does have a beautiful beach. It has been years and years since I've been there though. We're doing the tour that gets you there via ferry and bus as opposed to just by sea. We want to see a little bit of the island as well.

Is there any way to set a link (bookmark) to this Thread, such that the 'last' page always displays? :thumbsup2

No biggie - just that my bookmark (now) points to page 160, at least until I manually change it again.

Up at the top of the thread is a set of red buttons. One says thread tools. Pull that down and one of the options will be to subscribe to thread. You have the option to get an e-mail when someone posts or not. I choose not. Then any time you want to view the thread go up to UserCP (upper bar on far left). It will show your subscribed thread. Last, but not least, when you click on the thread either from there or from the main cruise meets menu if you click on the blue box (with a V in it). That should take you to your last read post. It doesn't work perfectly all the time but does work most of the time.

Hope that helps.

Here we go....

Very cute! When we went up the first time we were too late for the show but she had a policy that if you bought something from her store she'd pose the birds with you. We bought a cute frame and got some great pictures of the 4 of us (MIL, FIL, Mark and I).

Very cute bird photo! We saw an animal show last weekend ourselves, but no one was allowed to touch the birds. I took the kids to Weeki Wachee (my daughter loves mermaids; and unicorns).

How was it? It is one of those places I always thought would be cute to visit. Of course I'm not exactly sure where it is. I don't think it is that close to Disney is it?

Has anyone seen Kay or Jen around or heard from them? I don't think Kay has posted since Christmas and Jen long before that. Wonder if they are still joining us on the cruise. :confused3

Woohoo... Paid in Full and Passports are on the way. Thanx to this thread and the 12 WEEK WARNING, I got motivated.

Now the bad news - there were no brunches available. Also, I was hoping to get a Palo dinner on one of the sea days but there were none available. Here is what I got:

PALO RESERVATION:
Day 4 - St. Maarten - Tuesday, April 29, 2008
7:00 PM
9:00 PM

I may have to use the 'heard it on the elevator' trick as suggested in the community forum. That is, call Palo and tell them you overheard someone in the elevator say that they had cancelled their Palo reservation.

Spa and Fitness:

Responses from the community forum suggest the Elemis Aroma Stone Therapy. Is that the general consensus here?

I didn't see anything listed as "rain forest" but I thought I read something about that. Also, isn't there some sort of usage package - meaning, you can pay for 7 day usage and go anytime you want to use the showers or steam bath, etc?
