Laura and I met at the AK. The cool thing is that we won a private safari so we all got to go!!! It was awesome and we got to see animals that generally aren't out. Laura is a sweetheart and I just adore her. She is sending me some pictures and some Mickey Heads as we don't get have them here and I have kept checking the store to no avail. I was telling her about our cruise and naturally we started talking about the Buckeyes (of course she is a MI fan but I love her anyway) and one thing lead to another. I mentioned that we were meeting Karen at a game and then she said I know her. I also mentioned you Mary and she said she is a friend of mine to. We talked for a while about how wonderful the two of you are, how you guys had met and I tried to get her to go on the cruise (but sadly she can't go). What can I say except it is a small world. I had no idea you guys were friends! She said I will love you guys and the cruise will be wonderful.

Karen, We will be arriving around 12 noon on Saturday and the game is at 3:30. We could meet for lunch at the Buckeye Cafe (if we can get in), meet for dinner afterwards or do brunch on Sunday. We have to be back in Lexington at 4:15 on Sunday but besides that I am wide open. Do you have a preference? What will work with your schedule. I know that when I went to the Buckeye Cafe before the NW game there was only one other table with people at it. Was it a slow day do it being NW? I don't know. What do you think?

That is really cool about the private safari! You are right it is a very small world and that is what I love about these boards. A chance to get to know people from all over. Hope you and Karen have a great meet as well. I know you will because they are good people too!

I booked our air! I feel sick to my stomach, knowing how much I paid. Way over what I budgeted, but I have been watching the fares climb since May and I can't risk it going up even more. So I just booked it and want to forget about it! :lmao: It's exciting though, because it makes this cruise even more real!

Mary, I took your advice and we will be leaving LA Friday morning, coming in Friday afternoon, and not taking the redeye even though that would have saved us some money! We'll just be way too exhausted, especially since I know i won't be able to sleep! We'll just take it easy Friday, go to dinner for my birthday and make it an early night! Our flight home leaves at 1:20pm on Saturday after the cruise!

Hello All,

Am I still allowed to post even though I haven't been around for awhile?:lmao:

I have been so busy....I figure if I get a job out of the home I won't be so busy (I haven't done that yet)

I am so afraid that my dd in 9th grade won't be able to go on the cruise. She already has 7 absences (and you are only allowed 15 total - or you don't receive credit for the class) and when we cruise it won't be her spring break.

She had a MRSA staph infection (thank God we caught it early) and then the next week she had a virus in the lining of her lung that put her in the hospital (actually they wanted to rule out that the MRSA had spread).

Jen

Hey Jen! I am thinking about you a lot! Glad to see you post! How was your Alaska cruise?

Tell your DD to not get sick again! :lmao: Hope she will be able to go! Have you guys bought airfare yet? It's insane from LAX! :scared1: I bought ours yesterday, don't even want to think about it. Paid $500 more than I wanted to!

Jen - nice to see you!

Well the car is all packed and we are ready to go early tomorrow am. Just going to see how the storm that is headed this way is doing as to when we head out. I'll have the notebook so may check in once in a while.

The new signature guidelines have gone into effect. If you signature is cutting off that is why. Full details are in a sticky on the main cruise forum.

was that a hint? :lmao: :rotfl: I fixed mine, don't have time to mess with picture right now, so I'll do that later!

speakupjc...
I haven't been ignoring you. Just busy busy and trying to mull over how we can meet.
Mike says no-go for lunch. He says if they do lunch, they'll get closed out of the west lot where they usually park (b/c they'll get there too late)
Sunday is out for us b/c by the time we're done with church, you'll probably have to be heading back to get back to KY in time.
Dinner will work, but I'm not so sure Buckeye Cafe is the place to go. I'll be trying to get TOWARDS the stadium while everyone else is trying to get away (think salmon spawning!) :lmao:
Is it possible you guys could drive away from the stadium a bit just so I'm not going against traffic? Even if you guys could get to the Kenny/Henderson area, or down Kenny somewhere, I think I'd have a better shot at getting there against traffic.
Hmmmm....

I want this camera! It's the new powershot that just came out and Amazon already has a $50 off sale on it! I am smelling early Christmas present!

I have told DH that I wanted a new small camera before the cruise! I have the big Rebel XT that I will most likely take aswell, but it's so big, and so bulky to lug around. The thought of taking it on an excursion makes me cringe! The Powershots are about the size of a credit card and perfect to stick in my purse!

Good morning everyone! We are up and dressed and we'll be hitting the road in about an hour. Please keep us in your thoughts as there are still storms out there but thankfully the major ones have gone past for now.

We also have the Rebel XT and it was kinda a pain to lug around. We got the Canon g7 last year and LOVE it! :) Great camera!!!

Praying that you have a totally uneventful trip! And that you have a wonderful vacation!!! I'll be checking into the "live" thread. :)

Karen, After the game I am going to have to take my daughter's babysitter back to the Kenny Rd/Henderson area. We are willing to go to dinner after that. Is there a good place out there (the refectory, schmitts, the melting pot etc.) to eat.

There is a Max and Ermas right there at Kenny and Henderson. A couple of miles down the street on Henderson is a City Barbeque. There's Hyde Park Grill, but that is pretty fancy and $$$.

The only Melting Pot I know of is at Easton. The only Schmidt's I'm aware of is in German Village.

Anything sound good? I'm STARVING right now, so EVERYTHING sounds good to me! :lmao:
