We are a family of 4, first Disney cruise, me 40, DH38, DS, 6 1/2 and DS 2 1/2yrs.
Day started well as our towncar came to pick us up at 5:40 AM. Got to the airport to find out that our flight was delayed for 3 hours, we finally took off with a high school trip onboard with us, at 11AM. I realize now that I forgot my bag with wine and swimsuits back at home and that chances for Palo reservations were pretty slim at this point. DS 6 1/2 loves Delta Song for their TV screens and the cartoon network. Actually, I am loving the music trivia game, fruit and cheese platter pretty good, class trip pretty rowdy.
We arrive MCO at about 2pm, board Disney bus, recognize little league coach from last Thursday's game, can't believe people from our town on cruise too! We waited on the bus for almost 30 min. I'm now wondering if we will get any reservations for anything. I take a deep breath and watch the cruise video and look for alligators.
We get onboard at 3:30, our frazzled family is announced and surprised that people announced behind us have the same last name! I run to Palo reservations, find that only Monday brunch is left. I take it even though I know DH won't want to do brunch. I am placed #40 on waiting list for dinner and told that they call down the list every night? p.s. they didn't seem to know what they were doing.
I go to make wine tasting reservation, no problem there.
Next, Flounders, find that they are not open during Monday brunch time anyway, so there goes the Palo brunch. No problems with the other 4 nights I wanted.
Run to topsiders, now closed, but DH got me the mango soup (yummy) and some shrimp. Next time we will absolutely fly in the night before!
We go to room, do some unpacking and then to muster drill. Yes, the 2 1/2 yr old hated it, but I got a cute picture before the crying started, and the CM let me leave early when he threw himself into a tantrum on the deck.
I went to the Dismeet, they must wonder why I was a wreck! Meet some nice people, but only saw Lurontravel after that since we were both at Flounders a few times. Sailaway was great, with a drink in hand and two happy boys, life was good again as we sang the theme to the Mickey Mouse Club and the horn sounded "When you wish upon a Star". (warning, we found out later that kids will cry if too close to the stack when horn goes off)
We head to dinner, we had APL rotation, Animator's palate was wonderful, but the ship starts rocking just as I realize that my seasickness patch is stuck in my hair and not on my skin and I panic that I will be feeling ill soon. DS 2 1/2 falls asleep on the table and the staff could not have been more helpful. They pulled a chair up to make a little bed from two chairs and a tablecloth.
Next to us a boy was sleeping on the floor. (on a tablecloth)
I had the flatbread and the lamb? Anyway, it was actually one of my favorite menus. Our servers were Gabor and Aswald. Wonderful, wonderful all week.
DH wanted to go to bed, so I checked DS 6 1/2 into kids club (we skipped dessert) It was good timing. After the real dinner hour I noticed very long lines for checking into kids clubs.
I then explored the ship alone, DS paged me about an hour later. He got another hot dog(Plutos), nobody in Studio Sea but music blasting , we had the place to ourselves and danced for awhile. We went up to Palo to ask about chances for dinner ressies, told to sit by the phone. (yeah right!) canceled brunch.
DS 61/2 wanted to see the ventriloquist, so we did, he was very funny. Then up to bed around 10pm. Should have stayed at the show as our cabin #5000 was above the theatre and we heard every word. After the show all was fine. There was a slamming crew door near us, but the slamming was only the first night for some reason. Agnello was our stateroom host and also very nice. BTW, I thought the refrigerator cooled drinks like any other, no problem there.
Tomorrow, Key West and Who wants to be a Mouseketeer!
