First time cruiser here.
We've been booked on this cruise since Sept 2003 and only now have I gotten around to taking a good look at this site. It'll take me forever to look through all of the postings...looks like I know what I'll be doing during my lunch hours.
We'll be travelling with my husband's cousin & his family who live in Escondido California. They have an 11yr old son and we have 2 daughters aged 8 & 12 and live in Toronto.
My youngest is a little unsure of spending time on her own at the kids club, since the 2 older ones will be together. So if anyone out there has a daughter around the same age maybe we can get them together.....it's always easier when kids have friends with them.
can't wait to cruise

megakat - if you go back a page or two you should be able to find where someone was kind enough to post the link to the kids' thread.

thanks jordgubben :)
I'll be sure to let my kids know.....now I'll never get them off my computer.

we are also staying at Ron Jon's the night before the cruise. We fly into Orlando that same day so if we are not too exausted out we will try make it at Grill's....soounds fun. Is Grill's close to Ron Jon's?? Thanks.

I think it is pretty close. We have never been there, but it sounds like a great place. We had originally planned on staying the night before the cruise, but Ron Jon's looked so good, we are coming a couple of days early. :cool1:

Hi My children and I will be cruising on this cruise. My kids are ages 11 and 13, so I'm sure I'll have a little free time on my hands. I was just wondering if anyone else was in a similiar situation. I could also use any advice any previous single parents could provide regarding things to do, etc. Can't wait to go.

Hi Andy,

I am also travelling alone with my 2 girls on the same cruise (12 and 17) Although I am not single (my husband has a seasonal business that keeps him home) this will be our 4th Disney cruise with out him. We are also travelling with my sister and her husband. They also have 2 girls (11 and 15) I enjoy having time to myself to sun, read , play bingo etc. I insist that they eat dinner with me but other than that I hardly ever see them...maybe an occasional show and when we get off the ship. It will be fun for them as well as you!!

We just booked the Captain Marvins 2 hour snorkling tour yesterday. I can't wait! I was surprised that they still had room this late. Has anyone used them before? They said it was no problem for us to bring the baby with us and DS will love being able to swim with the stingrays.

We're still going to do the SeaLion excursion in Cozumel through Disney. DH and I will probably be a little bored but the kids will like it. Has anyone been to Chanakaab before? What else is there to do?

Anyone ordering baskets from Shirley? That's my next project LOL We got one on our last cruise for DS and he LOVED it! I would definately recommend it.

Less than 2 months to go! As much as I like my little turtle, I liked the old countdowns better with the EXACT time left LOL

JNC - we are planning on getting down to Port Canaveral on Friday night - hopefully not late if all goes well. We are staying at the Radisson right by the port. Do you know if Grill's is near there? I am sure I can do a search for it and come up with some info. That would be great if we could meet ahead of time.

Welcome megakat...Im pretty new to this site too. I have found ALOT of helpfull info here and met alot of nice families that will all be on the same cruise. This is also our first Disney Cruise and it is just our family going. Its me and husband and two boys 11 and 3 year old. Maybe the 11 year old boys will be in the same club togeter. Anyway, I was so excited to see Escondido California on your post. I think we are the only West Coaster on this site that will be on the cruise. Isn't Escondido down by San Diego? We are more up north and will be flying out of LAX EARLY Friday morning the day before the cruise. Well, see you on the cruse and have fun check out all the good information on this discussion forum. By the way, there is also a kids discussion site it at http://13.94.75.33/showthread.php?t=720781 (I think) My son has gone on and introduced himself and gotten a couple of nice replys back. Its nice know others that will be on the same cruise!! Take care. Cathy

Hey dkmjgal,

We have not been to Grill's, but from what I understand it is right next to where the Magic pulls out to sea. Great views and reasonable prices. The website is www.visitgrills.com.

I think it will be great to meet some of you before the whole "embarkation" thing. I for one am gonna be overwhelmed I'm sure, since this is our first D-cruise. I think it might make for a little more of a relaxing meeting place. Plus it will give us the opportunity to talk about what to expect etc. We just need to work out the details of "how many" and "what time?", but we have plenty of time for that. We look forward to meeting your family! :cool1:

We just checked out the website and this place looks good...especially the view as we are getting more snow! Sounds like a great idea, we would like to meet there too. :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

That sounds like a lot of fun. If we weren't getting in so late on Friday (and hence staying near the airport) we would definitely be joining all of you. Have fun!

my girls (kaitlin 12 & megan 8) have been on the kids site and they are so excited to be able to talk to other kids on the cruise.
we're not from Escondido, we're from Toronto, Canada, but my husbands cousin, his wife and their son (ryan 11) are from there...and yes it's just down from San Diego. we've been there quite a few times and i must say I love it down there!
you may feel like the only west coaster, but i feel like the only Canadian. everyone seems to be from the same state...almost the same neighbourhood. my girls are looking forward to meeting new friends and hopefully becoming penpals. it'll be nice to meet everyone, should be a great time. jackie :wave2: :hyper:

Hi Stimpy -

We did Captain Marvin's on our last cruise and it was definitely worth it. It is a short walk to Captain Marvin's from the ship. I got directions from their website. They had an airconditioned bus that took us to the dock. We were traveling with another family and the only complaint they had was that we were in a small boat with another family. My friends were hoping for a bigger boat with a shower. I'm sure you can request this from Captain Marvin if it is important to you. We did the half day excursion that brought us to two other snorkeling sites besides Stingray City. All in all, we had a wonderful day.

We are staying at the Radisson the night before. Don't know if we can be at Grills. We are going to be a big group (17 in all) and the last family is not making it until around 10:30 at night. We were looking to go to an early dinner and then hang around by the pool, have a quick drink with our friends and get to bed early so that we can get up early the next morning, have breakfast and get to the port by around 10AM.

It's so great to think about this today -- another snow day!

My family has informed me that they dont want to do the sting ray excursion. This left me with the Rum Point Beach day...however I heard there will be 5 other ships in port which makes me think that Rum Point will be very crowded.

A friend told me she just grabbed a cab and was taken to a resort on 7 mile beach where she paid for a few lounge chairs and an umbrella for the day....Has anyone heard of this possibility?

Thanks ;)

Hey all, and hey to my neighbor Yankee. Haven't checked in for a little bit, been kinda busy. Anyway, the time was going so fast, and now it seems to be dragging. Too bad I'm coming in Saturday morning or I would have loved to meet up with all you folks on Friday. I was thinking last night about maybe packing this weekend, I know it sounds crazy but I would like to have it done. Gina (DD) and I will be going bathing suit shopping this weekend as we are having a girls weekend because Dad's going on a golf trip. Maybe we'll buy some clothes too. And the DD needs some sandals, hopefully someone has some nice ones for sale. Haven't seen much so far. I'm waiting for the disposable cameras to go on sale so I can get a bunch. I have a great camera, but I'm really bad about losing cameras and on our last cruise I brought the disposable ones and the pictures were awesome, so, disposable it is again. Still have to get another over the door shoe holder from the $1 store and some gift cards as well. Talk to you all soon. :flower:

I was interested in doing 7 Mile also. Rum Point is an entire day trip. We were only looking to do beach for 1/2 day and then back to the ship. We did Stingray City last time. What resort did you friend go to? I have been trying to research this and the Hyatt used to be good but I think it was damaged from Hurricane Ivan. I was looking to find a beach where I could get a chair and umbrella and maybe rent a hobie cat or go snorkeling.

I recall reading something about Sea Grape beach on Grand Cayman being nice but haven't been able to find a whole lot of information about it. I think that's where we are going to try after our morning excursion.

BTW, I just realized this is my 400th post. :smooth:

Good morning everyone....i have not checked in for quite awhile and thought it was about time to do so. Cannot believe we are getting so close!! We are planning on doing 7 Mile Beach on Grand Cayman...we will spend the afternoon there. We booked the Fury Catamaran Sail, Snorkle and Beach day for Cozumel and will just walk around Key West. Booked Banana boat ride for CC...may add parasailing too.
