April 22, 2013 5-night out of Miami

Hey everybody,

We booked today. We were able to get the Kids Sail Free offer, so it made it too good of a deal to pass up. I wish we had ocean view, but we will be thankful for the inside just to be on the ship.

I will get us signed up for the Fish Extender group tonight after I get my son back from Karate.

I am looking forward to seeing you all.

Has a meet and greet been set yet? If so, can I offer a couple suggestions?

1] last cruise we met in the Promenade lounge on Deck 3 I think. We met about 30 minutes before sail away.

2] we wore mardi gras beads to be able to spot each other,

3] we took a group picture with everyone. If you would like to do that, I will be glad to take it unless we have a professional photog in the group.

See you all soon.

Randy

Randy,

Glad you are joining us! You have some great ideas. There has been some talk about a Meet and Greet but nothing has been decided. A couple families were talking about meeting at a pool on Monday morning - being that the first afternoon on the ship can be so jam-packed! But it also would be fun to meet everyone right away.

I was about to send out a poll to see what everyone wanted to do. I will post the link to it in another post so everyone is sure to see it. That way, hopefully we plan what the most people would want to do.

Looking forward to meeting you and your family! My daughter is 12 and my son is 10 and they are also excited to meet new friends.

Jen

Hi everyone!

It's getting closer!! :cool1: I can't wait - can you??

I am going to send out the FE list this weekend to everyone so watch your emails!

I have created a mini-poll to see what everyone would like to do about a Meet and Greet. There is a section (question 3, I think) that is a free-type field. Feel free to add any suggestions you might have!

Here is the link to it:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Y1TSJsl0QHxQyYxR9GYGObUVke8Evo0iLaLOdMiVQ1c/viewform

I have set it up that once you have responded you can see all the responses (if I did it right ).

Thanks!

Hello, my name is Jennifer and I will be traveling with my husband Simon on this last minute get away for us.
This is our second time ALONE on the Wonder... yep, we are those weird adults that go without their kids.... but fear not, we are taking the whole crew on the Fantasy in September!
This was such a good deal we just couldn't pass up.
We've never done a FE before, and I was wondering, do adults do it? We bought a FE for our trip in September and it would be fun to use it, but as adults, I don't want to be odd.
Totally can't wait!

Hey Jennifer, Welcome Aboard. We just booked today.

On our last cruise, we had a few cabins participate in the FE that were only adults. As far as I am concerned, you are on vacation, if you want to participate, then go for it. That is my same answer for dressing up on Pirate Night.

Trust me, if we ever take a cruise without the kids, we will still do the FE.

Are there any other homeschoolers on this cruise besides us?

Hi! We homeschool also...daughters are 8 and 10. This is our first Disney cruise and their first cruise. We are very excited! How old are your kids? Gloria

We don't homeschool our kids. This is our April Vacation (We get 1 week in February & 1 in April).

I definitely think adults can participate in the FE.

Jen-I can't wait to get your email & start FE planning.

Our kids still have no idea we are going on the cruise :cool1:. They will be shocked when we head to the airport, but more shocked when we drive up to the port :rotfl2::thumbsup2

Our son is 14 and my daughter will be 12 in May. They don't know about the cruise yet, but they will be very excited to meet new friends. They would love to get some penpals out of this cruise. :cool1:

Thanks, that is sweet of you. I am just ITCHING to use my cute new FE!

We did that in December. It was a BIG secret until we pulled into the parking lot and the kids were like - WE'RE GOING ON A CRUISE???? What a fun surprise for kids!

But now, anytime we get in the car with a packed suitcase they are all ready to go sailing! LOL (10, 8, and 2 year old boys!)

We homeschool Connections Academy 4th grade and 2nd grade - but we are leaving them at home, ha ha!

Since they are homeschooled it is easy to take them with, or not, since we control our own schedule (within reason)

We are not planing on renting a car in Miami as we are flying in later Sunday evening.

Is there a good place to look for hotels that will pick us up from the Miami airport, stay the night Sunday and then take us to the port terminal?

I'm sure someone has done the research, and wouldn't mind sharing!

Thanks a bunch in advance!

Ours would love pen pals too. Amazing how you've kept the cruise quite! I'm so excited about it that I'm not sure I could have kept it quiet!

We're more eclectic using different products but will also leave at home! We've been reading about dolphins this week since we're doing a dolphin encounter in GC. Also 4th and 2nd grades!

Hi!

I just wanted to remind everyone that the FE signup is set to "close" tonight. I'll leave the form up until midnight and then get the info sent out to those who signed up tomorrow.

Right now we have 18 cabins with 36 adults and 35 children signed up :cool1:

Hi just started reading this thread and am thrilled to see that so many other people are as excited as we are to cruise! My husband and I are travelling with our 9 year old daughter (4th grade) and our six year old son (1st grade). The FE sounds like so much fun ! Glad we didn't miss it.. going to sign up as soon as I post this : ) Our kids don't know we are going it is going to be a surprise for them.. should be so exciting! Is anyone else doing this? We were looking to find the kids a pen pal BEFORE the cruise and then surprise them by getting to meet their new found friends on the boat. If anyone is interested please reply :)

Jen-have we decided if we are going to divide the FE's or deliver to everyone?

I had to edit because I originally read it quickly and thought there were 35+ cabins :)

We haven't told our children either. We probably will soon, but haven't figured out how yet. My children are a 14 year old son, and an almost 12 year old daughter. For our first Disney cruise, we kept it a secret up until the night before we sailed. We told them we were going to Disney World for a few day, so we went down a day early and met some friends of ours who happened to be at Disney that week outside of Magic Kingdom and they gave my kids a cruise trading pin and their luggage tag. They were speechless.

It was very hard keeping that secret. My wife and I had to do all the FE gifts, and come up with pirate costumes without the children knowing about any of it.

We have a 10 year old daughter (well..she turns 10 this coming Friday) and 8 year old daughter who would love pen pals! Especially the 10 year old (also in 4th grade). They know about the cruise because I have a hard time containing my excitement!!! :).
