April 21, 2007 -- Western Magic -- anyone?

The luggage/fish scales are $4.97 at our Walmart, just in case anyone wanted to know. :rolleyes1

I glanced through the sporting goods on my way from one side of the store to the other today. Sure enough, 50lb. capacity, and it wouldn't take up much room at all. :thumbsup2

Thanks, Kevin! Justin didn't think we needed the portable luggage scale to bring along until I told him he wouldn't be able to buy anything if we're going to be close to the limit before we even got there. He didn't like the sound of that! I think his mom has a bag similar to yours, but is there any way to secure it closed? I'd hate to have my dirties strung out all over the baggage claim conveyor belt! :rotfl2:

There is a flap that folds in and there is a strap the secures a clasp through 3 holes at the top. I have dropped mine in a lake :scared1: and everything inside was dry.

I just have to rant for a second -- we are so excited for this vacation. My kids teachers are being down right difficult. Taylor has perfect attendance and a great GPA, and some are telling him that they hope the vacation will be worth the loss of his grade. Why do they always seem to pick on the good kids? O.K. - done. Thanks for the moment to rant.

We are at seven suitcases now -- I have no clue what to unpack. I tried the take out half method and it isn't working. Part of the reason we have so many is because we have been so close to the 50 pound mark in the past (and the nice sky caps have let us by), I am worried about getting close -- not to mention we need room for souveniers. My children keep laughing at me because I have refused to get rid of my castaway cay t-shirt from last cruise -- it has about twenty holes in it, but I figured that it could last until we could get more! :)

Amy -- I loved your story of you and your husband -- that is a classic!!

Even over on the other side of the US - New Hampshire, the teachers do the same thing here. Of course, it even ALLOWS up to 5 days of vacation time as long as a note is put in advance. We have taken Casey out of school once, she did ALL the homework they assigned, and when she turned it in, they weren't even half way through what they gave her! And then she happen to be sick and they send a letter home stating that she could drop a grade and have DETENTION! I called and spoke to the vice principal who said that was to deter kids from just taking off a school when it was nice to go to the beach. I said the letter was not appreicated, and it just goes out and they don't even look at the kid (s) that they are sending it to. OJK, done venting a reply.

4 suit cases for us, with a folding one from Cozumel that we will use for "stuff". One suitcase just has the formal/semi-formal and piratepirate: wear in it!

I wish I was doing WDW too!::MinnieMo pluto: :tinker: :donald: ::MickeyMo pooh: :dumbo:

OMG - you guys, I'm starting freak out a bit! My problem is that Chris isn't very motivated, because of course, he doesn't know he's having a surprise party on Sunday.
:rotfl: Good Luck Amy!!!!!
And you've got to post photos....It's always nice to see what other people are working on.

I know I had asked you guys before about the suit valet suitcase. I think Cyndi said there was one at WalMart for a nice inexpensive price, but today Ed wound up buying one at Costco for $99. It already has a scale in it!
Funny, but he's got this new valet & the Largest Suitcase out of our set!
I told ya he's a Metro!

Congratulations on being number 1 with the 100 Cyndi!

Is anyone bringing any gifts (candy) or gift cards for the Kids' Counselors?

Also, how's the bed bug situation?

As for the schools...We get the same slack...
Last October, we were on the tram that takes us into AK from the parking lot. My phone rang, and it didn't have a number, just out of area.
So I said, Hello?
"Hello, this is Nurse Bland from Sachem Middle School. I am just calling to ask about your daughters, neither one of them have been in school the past three days..."
I said, "Oh, we're down in Florida right now. I wrote notes to all the teachers letting them know and......."

NB: "Oh, REALLY!?!?!"
ME: "Yes........Didn't anyone tell you?"
NB: "No One EVER Tells me ANYTHING!!! I am tired of this! I'm going to have a talk with the principal!
ME: "I'm sorry"
NB: Thank You, Good Bye...

Not funny, but funny!
So this time I will definitely personally call Nurse Bland and let her know:laughing:
I know we'll get slack again this year.

BTW, has anyone said anything to you guys about being Afraid to Cruise?
Especially after the sinking of the ship and the last couple of Man Overboards?
When someone says something to me, I just say, well, I've always wanted to be an adventurer and act like I was in an action movie...Maybe I'll get my chance!
But really, anyone saying anything to youse?

Cheryl and all you parents out there who want to know what Kathy the pharmacist recommends: Dramamine Chewables. I don't know if it was posted by anyone here because I didn't get a chance to read all the posts...
but she's the pharm and I always trust what she says.

It's on deck 3, between Lumiere's and Parrot Cay, right next to the Internet Cafe. You won't miss it if you walk along the hallway between Lumiere's and Parrot Cay.
I forgot to say thanks earlier for this! I was looking at the wrong deck. For some reason, I thought it was either on deck 4 or maybe 9. I totally overlooked it!

I'm kinda bummed. A friend and I were supposed to go out of town tomorrow for a craft show in Omaha. They have it twice a year, and we NEVER miss it! I called her tonight to see who was going to drive, and she forgot all about it! Her son is graduating next month, so she has been so preoccupied with that and was planning on painting this weekend. I'm a little relieved, though, too. I've got waaaay too much stuff to do around here anyway, but it's always a fun trip for us girls to get away. The freezing rain/snow that we're expecting tomorrow had me a little worried anyway. Oh well.

I'm tired. Off to bed. "See" you tomorrow!

Thanks, I've been working on it almost all day. And, the girls school asked me to sub for after care today, so I missed out on about 2 hours of painting time, but we're almost done!! The new baseboards aren't up, but at this point, if it can't get done by Saturday, then they're just going to have to wait until we get home!!!

Is anyone bringing any gifts (candy) or gift cards for the Kids' Counselors?
We will be! We always bring them candy, and they seem pretty appreciative!!!

Also, how's the bed bug situation?
I have read most of that thread, and what I don't get is how only one person "got bitten", and no one else did in that room. I would think that if the bed bugs were that bad, then everyone would have been affected. Anyway, we've never encountered them, so I'm not going to worry too much. I'll check around, but I won't obsess over it.

Thankfully, mine are both still in preschool, so no slack from the school for me. Emily is missing a field trip, but we'll be in Cozumel that day, so I'm thinking Mexico is more "educational" than a trip to the petting zoo. :rotfl:

Oh, no problem, whatsoever!!! I'm glad to have helped a bit!!

Countdown to cruising!!!
8 days to go!!!

One week from today, we'll be heading to WDW!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Ok, we made a lot of progress and we only have a small hallway to finish installing the wainscoting and the installation will be done. I need to do some painting today, and the main room will be done (well, except for the new painted baseboards).

I'm off to Sam's Club today to buy stuff for the party, and I need to order a cake too. I think that I'll be ordering 2 cakes, one for Chris and a little one for Madison, because I really want to get this "tombstone" cake for Chris, but don't really think it's appropriate for them to share that type of cake. So, I'll get her a little one of her own.

caught up!

by the time i finish reading i feel like i don't have time to type all i have to say!!

thanks for the fish scale revolution val! i'm going to wally world today as a matter of fact. my FINAL shopping day yesterday was a bit haphazard as I left my list at home!! thankfully the stuff i forgot was all WM stuff. that's all we have in our town believe it or not! well maurices but....

actually our school is usually pretty good. Paiges elementary is not a problem, this is first year for HS and I have nagged my Taylor enough to be on top of it and all her teachers have agreed to give her homework or at least a good idea of what she'll miss. i guess i'm in the lucky minority and didn't really appreciate it

i printed out some cards for the counselors and 2 for our servers, I had paige color thank-you cards last cruise and the servers/counselors LOVED it. i just prinited out Disney coloring pages, trimmed them, etc. printed on cardstock paper, blah blah blah. she wouldn't color this year so we used clip-art. i'll have the kids sign them and give them on friday. i'm also picking up some candy, either today or at our grocery stop in FL. last time i bought some buckeye candy, 'cause we are from the Buckeye State........i may run to speciality candy store in town and get them again.

really gotta go!

Good morning everyone! One week left, one week left!! Let's see, next Friday at this time we'll be sitting in the airport, waiting to board the plane. :dance3: I think all week I've stressed myself out trying to make sure I had everything I needed, but today for some reason I finally feel relaxed & excited for the trip. Woo hoo!

Corryn, my MIL (also known as obesessor of everything - but I love her!) is the only person who asks those questions. She said "do you have this, or what if you need that, can you stand being in that tiny room all the time?" I had to laugh & explain to her we don't just sit in the room, you can walk around, lounge, watch movies, etc. Like a huge hotel on water. She finally said "I guess you guys have it all figured out, have a good time!" :lmao: No one else has said much, except how jealous they are. ;)

Wow, where is everyone today? Knee deep in luggage? :goodvibes

Cyndi
I'm STILL working on this darn dining room!! I won't even be unburying my luggage until Monday!! But, I was wondering where everyone was too. It must be because it's Friday!!!

Is there a phone number on the ship that someone can reach us on in case of an emergency; I thought there was but I am having a hard time finding it.

Wendy

Good afternoon fellow thread stalkers.

I've been away most of the day, because SHOCK - I've actually been working quite a bit. I've got 4 more working days to get this mess straightened out before I leave, and I do NOT want to be finishing up at 4pm next Thursday. Ain't gonna happen. So, now I'm fairly caught up.

Went to Walgreen's during lunch - Easter stuff was 75% off. :cool1: Found a few cheap items to throw in the carry on for Emily - she'll be excited! Even picked up a couple packs of the Reese's peanut butter eggs for Mark - so that will make him a happy camper. He LOVES peanut butter & chocolate.

I'll try to keep stalking until time to head home....tonight I have to make Emily's Snow White birthday cake. :)

Not yet! Probably tomorrow! :thumbsup2 I spent all morning trying to cross things off my list of stuff to get--everything that I couldn't get at Wal-Mart but didn't want to take the time to make 10 other stops earlier in the week. Since the boys were both finally back in preschool this AM, I tried to do it without them. Now I'm scurrying to get my work done (since I missed out on my prime working time without them!) so we can try to find new black shoes for them this afternoon after Justin gets off work and before his poker game here tonight.

I can't believe I'm having a hard time finding a Mickey shirt! I want to send one for each of the boys and one for my mom to GS to have them signed, but THEY'RE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND! I should have ordered from disneyshopping.com a long time ago, but I figured I'd easily be able to find one. I guess I'll have to buy them on the ship instead.
