April 21, 2007 -- Western Magic -- anyone?

i will most for sure make sure i stalk this thread tomorrow so i can have a door sign too :teeth: however i have given up chocolate for lent  but i do love good chocolate.

Luckily the cruise is after Easter, so you can have chocolate with us then!

We on the lookout for a new camera. The Nikon sounds great!! Last cruise, we used a point and shoot, and I still came home with 20 rolls of film. I love the memory cards -- more pictures.:)

BTW - If anyone is still looking for a formal dress for a younger daughter, Dillards is having a great sale on a bunch of dresses. I found a long black dress for my daughter for $17. I was having a hard time spending $$$ for a dress that she will probably wear once or twice, but for $17, I couldn't resist.

i saw Paula on Oprah -- that was tooo funny. and just after her sons said they were too nervous to sample the food b/c it was 'Momma's first time on Oprah"

ok, i'm not sure where my DH and I fit in. i'm the painter, i'm more detail-anal about it, but he helps when it's overwhelming. though he's the deck-stainer.

he would wear pink :teeth: but only light pink dress shirt........he has a flower shirt too, but it's not loud. he was fine with out of the box flower shirt b/c it's his vacation ::yes::

gotta go..........

My DH is such a perfectionist that it takes FOREVER to finish a project! When we were building our house a couple years ago, we painted the entire inside, and it took us THREE MONTHS! Of course, we didn't want any white, so every room in the house is a different color and most have two colors. Our contractor didn't think we would ever finish!
My DH isn't just a perfectionist, but he always says YES to people, so he has SO many things on his plate that he never gets anything done. We bought all the stuff to remodel our master bathroom. He gutted it over a YEAR ago, and it is still in the same state (no drywall, empty). Someday, it'll get done. He wanted to start working on that when I suggested the painting, but I knew that this project could be finished in a week, which is just the kind of project that I wanted.

Did anyone see Paula Deen on Oprah about a month or so ago? (I'm way behind on watching my Tivo'ed Oprah...thanks to DIS and my new hobby of thread stalking). She's always funny anyway, but when she was cooking and dropped the small bowl in the mixing bowl, I was :rotfl2: .
OMG - saw that and completely cracked up!!! Paula Deen is hysterical!!! I saw her on Martha the other day (it was a rerun) and she was cracking me up!!!

My DH wears loud flower shirts every Friday for casual day at his office and most of the time on the weekends. And, most of them are Disney ones!!! He really likes them because they are oversized, lightweight, and comfy!!!

When we had our old house (and I mean old--90 years old!), we remodeled our kitchen and bathroom that were right next to each other. Down to bare studs and everything. He told me it would take a month...it was 13 months! At first, we had everything out of the kitchen but the sink. Well, I eventually had no sink from Memorial Day to Labor Day. I did dishes in the tub (luckily, we were only without a tub/shower for about two days, which was long enough!) or at my mom's house. I became very useful with the grill and with the microwave that we set up on a card table in the spare room. But it was not fun. I'm so glad I don't have to relive those remodel days. :woohoo:

Val--I know what its like to be creative for meals with a microwave and a crockpot. We were without a kitchen for a couple of mths.

Oooohhh, I don't even want to think about when we remodel the kitchen!! That's one of the next MAJOR remodels, but I'm thinking that it'll be a few years before we tackle that one.

I wouldn't necessarily say ours were creative...lots of mac-n-cheese! And this was before kids! :rotfl:

My suggestion...HIRE IT DONE! :thumbsup2

OMG! Again, my DH is the same way!
I keep remembering that made-for-TV movie about the man living a double life and when he died in a car accident, both of his wives showed up at the hospital. If our DH's are the same person, will we find out when we meet on the cruise? :rotfl:

:lmao: Lifetime Movie Network meets Disney Cruise Lines :rotfl2:

Honestly Val, it wouldn't surprise me if you said you watch Ace of Cakes! My DH doesn't bake, but I sure do. I love cake decorating. In fact, I made DH a Tow Mater cake for his birthday. DD got a Princess Castle last year for her birthday, and this year I'm making her a Snow White doll cake. If I lived closer to Charm City Cakes, I'd be begging pleading & stalking them out to try to work there.

Off to watch Idol while stalking the DIS. Hope these people keep me entertained for a while.

Okay, how about this...I wish I knew how to decorate cakes. :)

BUT, I DO LOVE IDOL!!! :thumbsup2

Me too. :thumbsup2 Hopefully the guys will step it up tonight & do better. They've bored me for a while. :sad2:

Go Melinda! (I'm a little behind, but I'm Tivo'ing through the commercials, so I'll be caught up soon.) I have to admit, the boys pretty much suck, except Blake is probably my favorite of the guys. My other favorite girls are Lakisha, Stephanie, and Jordin. I was shocked last week when Phil, Haley, and Sanjaya got through and Sabrina, Sundance, and Jared went home. I thought they were much better than those other three. IMO.

morning :surfweb:

ok you all talking about your remodeling i just have to share, i have posted pics of our kitchen remodel here and maybe after i clean today i'll post our formal living room turned den pictures. we also did our half-bath. what a job! i was ovenless for like 6 mos, and no kitchen sink for tooo long, like 6 weeks or more. i did the grill, microwave, electric skillet, crockpot thing too, ugh!

i had a meeting last night and haven't watched Idol but my heart just isn't in it without Sundance.............................:sad1:

i agree with what you all said! Taylor is a Blake fan, but my youngest likes Sunjayah. when they had it down to Sundance and Sunjayah and went to commercial we were all consoling her on her fav getting the boot --- and then Sundance got it. i have not recovered yet :sad2:

I agree about Sundance too. I was like this :scared1: when he got eliminated last week. He was my pick for atleast final four.

You guys are brave with all the remodeling. We totally redid our very first house. New siding, new floors everywhere, fresh paint, carport, deck, storage buildings. I don't want to ever have to deal with it again. :lmao: We built a new house 2 years ago, and made sure we had it right before moving in. I told DH I didn't want to have to keep "under construction" signs around the new home. We do have one project going now, that's finishing out the basement. We've split it into two sections. One half is DH's workshop, the other will be finished out for a fun family room/playroom. As of now, DH is hanging the sheet rock, and hanging the lights. I joke with DH and call him "Tim the Tool Man" all of the time. He gets 'the look' any time we go to a home improvement store, and I cringe. :rotfl: He has so many tools & gizmos now, I can't imagine that he'd possibly "need" anything else. :confused3 ;)

Nice kitchen, Molli! :woohoo: Isn't it all worth it now? Don't you love stainless appliances and recessed lighting? What is your island cabinetry--cherry, walnut, other? We just finished building our house 2 1/2 years ago, and I already want new cabinets. We're thinking cherry. DH built our countertops out of concrete. It's a marble-like look with a fraction of the cost. (When I first heard of it, I thought he was insane--I didn't want my countertops to look like my driveway! But he added pigment during the mixing process, so they are black with gray highlights.) Your yellow really makes it bright and cheery! :thumbsup2

I, too, was shocked when Sundance went home! He struggled a little at the end (I thought he sang well, but the music was too quiet for his voice the way he sang "Jeremy"), but he is way better than Sanjaya! IMO. We always joke that the tween/teen girls are probably the ones voting to keep him in because "he's so cute." I guess they are! I like Blake because he's so much different than anything they've had before. I have to admit, though, I'm not much of a hip-hop person, so I doubt I would buy a CD, but I guess I don't have any Idol's CD, even though I'm a die-hard Idol fan. They just play them too much on the radio, so I get tired of them. As much as I love Lakisha and Melinda (I'm sure they will probably be the final ones), I don't really listen to R&B either, but I'm just guessing that this is the type of music they would record. I LOVED Chris Daughtery last season, but I don't have his new CD either (which is strange because we listen to a lot of hard rock).
