April 20th 2013 Fantasy

Thanks so much, I guess 6 is better than 7. It looks as though right now on the VInow site that they have the Fantasy(4/23/13) docking at WICO (Havensight), so that is good.
Glad to know there will be alot of taxis available.:thumbsup2
Now if April would only get here.:)

That's the site I was looking at as well. They show 4 ships docking at Havensight, but fairly certain only three large ships can dock there at a time. They show a couple dates later in January that also have 6 ships in port and 1 of them is listed as being at Anchorage. Maybe they will update the info as our date gets closer.

Can't wait for some warm weather. April can't get here soon enough!

I'm very excited! We just booked our very first cruise today and I'm so happy it's with Disney! We'll be traveling with me, Rebecca, DH Scott, DS Ian (8) and DS (6). If anyone has a great recommendation for excursions I'd love to hear them!

Welcome aboard, Rebecca and family! There are a bunch of us on here who have cruised with Disney a lot so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! We love to share what we know with new friends :)

Hi, the site won't let me post a link because I don't have 10 posts yet. How stupid is that...

Anyway, the url is

www dot vinow dot com /general_usvi/cruiseship/ship_schedule.php

Senor Frogs is right at Havensight Mall so assuming we dock there it will be an easy walk from the ship. Not really any beaches within walking distance of Havensight so you will need to take a cab/excursion for those. Magens Bay is the most famous, but can be crowded. Haven't been there in a while, but I remember there being a fee to enter (plus taxi to get there and back). Lots of people take the ferry over to Trunk Bay on St. John which is also spectacular!

Last time at St. Thomas we went to Coral World and Coki beach (adjacent to Coral World). Coral World is "ok", but certainly not up to Disney standards. Did some snorkeling at Coki beach which I thought was pretty decent. Lots of vendors wandering around renting chairs and umbrellas and selling things. The Paradise Point tramway is fun and right off the ship at Havensight as well.

There's some interesting stuff in town as well, but with 6 ships I would probably avoid going there. There's an old fort (nothing like what we will see on San Juan though). There is also the 99 steps and Blackbeards castle. But, mostly it's just shopping.

Thought people might also be interested in the ship that will be in San Juan. Doesn't look bad at all. Here is what I have found so far:

Disney Fantasy
Explorer OTS
Grandeur OTS

We are thinking of doing the Segway tour. We tried them once in EPCOT at Innoventions and loved them. We've wanted to do the tour there but haven't managed to do it so perhaps we will tour San Juan instead!

Hi Karen, We are thinking of doing the Segway tour too. We did the tour at EPCOT a few years ago and LOVED it!! Since then we have done Segway tours of Chicago and Pittsburgh and have enjoyed them all! We also are thinking of doing the Rum Distillery tour. Not really sure about St Thomas yet. We were there on our first Disney cruise in 04 on the Magic and we took the boat excursion to Truck Bay and really enjoyed that. Mike & Lisa

We tried the Segways in EPCOT in Innovention. We really didn't get a chance to get good on them but we thought it was fun. Last year in St. Thomas we did the Best of St. Thomas Island Tour and Shopping. We liked it for the most part. You see some very beautiful places (and some not so beautiful). There really isn't anything else that appeals to us there so we will probably just get off the ship for a while and walk around and then enjoy the empty ship :)

Please help: I'm traveling with teens. Well, the son seems to have grown into an adult without my realizing it (he's 22) while the 16-year old is celebrating her Sweet 16 on this ship. please please PLEASE tell me there are teens cruising or she's going to have to suffer with me as her entertainment all week. We just looked at the roster and I got The Big Sad Pout.

with too many cruises under her belt

I will be sailing with my 15, almost 16yo daughter. She's looking forward to hanging out with some other girls this trip. Last trip she spent most of her time with her younger siblings. She was slow to embrace the club and regretted not jumping in sooner. I think this time round she'll be more comfortable socializing from the start.

YAAAY! Thank goodness! We've been on some cruises where it's been all younger children, and while she adores the 4 year olds, she loves the trips where she meets others her age from around the world, and this trip has three sea days and she was getting nervous. Thank you, I can't wait to tell her!

We (My husband, our 4 yr old daughter & myself!) are sailing with you fine people in April! I visited this page a few months ago but the cruise was just to far out for me to focus on it. Now that we are less than 90 days from our first cruise I am ready to peek back in here, but with 15+ pages of posts... I am a bit overwhelmed!

I just liked the FB page. I am hoping that is easier to follow! My husband has done all the planning he has cruised with the Mouse before (I have never been on a cruise!).

We might be interested in the FE exchange. Can someone give me ideas what you give as your gift to exchange? I have seen a few things on pinterest & etsy but just curious what the real deal is! :)

Hi and welcome, we are sailing with our two daughters that are right about the same age (3 and 6) as yours. Agree that it is much easier to focus on this trip now that it is getting closer. We have done a lot of cruising, but this will be our first Disney cruise so we are a bit overwhelmed with learning all the new stuff as well. Trying not to obsess with the details and just relax and have fun on the cruise. We are going to the parks afterwards so doing enough planning and obsessing over how to spend those days. :crazy2:

HERES AN UPDATED LIST FROM THE FB GROUP PAGE =) REMEBER IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE PLEASE CONTACT ME AND I WILL KINDLY ADD YOU TO THE LIST :cool1::banana::santa:

There are only like 65 members on the FB page? What is the hold up friends?? Get over there & like it so we can chat! :) Lots of good info for those of us first timers!
(Personally I think it is easier to read than these forums!)
& I dont like that I cant message people until I have 10 posts! Silly.

Finally paid it off! Now I'm looking at formal dresses. I made the horrible mistake last year of getting a mini/tunic type dress. I should've worn leggings. Also I learned (first timers take note) if you don't wear heels in your normal life, a cruise boat that fits half the population of your town is not the time to start wearing heels. This time I'm wearing a long dress and flats. Learned that the hard way (and then felt guilty wearing my super comfy flip flops in the MDRs).

Hi there,
Our daughter is 14 years old and looking forward to hanging out at Vibe, this will be our first cruise and we are very excited. On the FB page for our cruise, there are a few other families with teens who are looking to connect via email prior to the cruise. Check it out.:thumbsup2

I have a question re: the FB page. I liked it and am on it, but if I post, will my post show up on my FB page for my friends to see? I don't usually like to announce when I'm traveling.

TIA

I'm in the same boat, Momto3P, and I don't have a Facebook page. I'll do my best to keep up here.

Mickdeb, my daughter's well versed in the teen clubs; when we were in Europe, she was very good about making it up in the morning, despite how late they often played board games and such. She's never been in Vibe and is sooooo looking forward to the expanded space.

We are celebrating her sweet 16 onboard if any teens want cake!

Because it is a closed group if you post something it doesn't show up for everyone to see.
