Talk to me about April. This is my first year being stuck around school schedules. We're already taking a week out of school this October for a trip, so I really am held to April school vacation (April 20-24). With Easter on April 12th - what should I expect? I'm normally a September/October visitor.

Totally open to a resort only trip if the crowds will be insane.

Thanks for any and all input!

That's one of the golden weeks for relatively lower crowds. The Easter crowds will be gone and spring break is pretty much over.

Crowds shouldn't be insane. I think that should be a pretty nice week. It may be a bit more expensive than you're used to due to the date-based pricing. Have you looked at 2020 resort rates yet? They seem pretty high to me.

First few days will be quiet .should be cheap accommodation for weekdays to . I went that time this year and going a week earlier in 2020. Weekend 18-19 is star wars run weekend and next weekend is a big cheer and dance comp weekend . So run crowd will mostly be gone and cheer group mostly there fri to sun. Because of that the days in between will be good as weekends are expensive it scares a few off after checking week long vacation price . So keep a eye out for hotel discount . Example last year sun-thur we got Caribbean for $164 avg a night for 5 person room when they had a sale at start of year

Most school breaks seem to be late March - mid April, so it seems like you hit the jackpot. It's hard to find a time that WDW isn't busy, but end of April seems like one of the low times.

Just so you know, the week earlier in 2020 is EASTER week and will be much more crowded than the week OP is going. The weeks surrounding Easter Sunday are easily some of the most crowded weeks of the year.

Yeah this year easter was a week later 19-22th . And we went 25-4th . Next year 10-13th going 15-23 so should be similar besides run weekend .

love seeing this. We have the same school vacay week here in MA. Planning a trip April 21-28; will take the DGDs out of school the Mon/Tues after vacation week.

have checked out the rates, waiting/hoping a discount will drop sometime in September. Last year Stay/Play/Dine ran until 4/27 I think. That works better for us than a RO as we stay at a value. Fingers crossed that even with SWGE there will be some discount.

there are a few of us over here waiting for a discount: https://www.disboards.com/threads/april-2020-discount-watch.3764151/#post-60980122

We're from MA too! We are DVC owners but April has just never been on our radar before. Very comforting to know it won't be complete madness!

Perfect post, because for the last 2 years (2018 and 2019) I went to WDW on the Sunday or Monday after Easter week - which I'm doing again this year, April 19 - 24! It's a great time to go. Most spring break crowds are gone after that super busy post-Easter week, and while there can be events close to it (cheer comps, and apparently the Star Wars run) it's usually pretty chill.

I actually was just going to stay that Mon-Fri like you, but decided last week to add on the Sunday. That will probably end up being the busiest day of the trip, but since I'm only doing Disney Springs/resort pool that day, I'm not worried.

Anyway, have fun!

Rival Run Start Wars race weekend is April 17-19 so you will have some people from the race staying to vacation that week.

I run all of the Disney races and most of the runners stay at least 2 or 3 days after the race to vacation.

We had to reschedule our October 2019 trip until April 2020 and are planning it around my 2 granddaughters' birthdays in April. I'm curious as to what to expect if we visited 4/8-4/14/20. Since Easter will be the 12th, I'm concerned it will be too busy.

We've gone later April and Early May, missing Easter and Mothers Day. May was much warmer, but crowds were not terrible on any o fthose trips.
The only thing we found in May was an amazing number of 5th, 6th grade and senior school groups.

I’m going April 25-May 2. Hoping for low crowds but worried about being hot! I’m used to going in the winter!

Just resurrecting this thread as I don't see a real April 2020 thread.

Heading to WDW for 5 days April 13-18, staying at the Swan. Interested to see how everyone going at that time is approaching SWGE. Let us know your plans. Also keeping an eye on park hours and perhaps picking up the Galactic Spectacular dessert part when it comes available.

All anxieties are welcome. :drinking:
