April 2, 2005 Magic-First DCL cruise-anyone going?

Christy,

My apologies about the misspelling. Please feel free to give me corrections and also any suggestions for maintaining the roster.

Phyllis

No problem! Just glad you took the initiative to do that. Makes things much easier!:D

For the list on page 10... Thanks for putting that together Tiggerish. I like being able to match the kids up with others their same age. So here's my info.

This is greytlady (I have 2 retired greyhounds along with 2 cats).

On the trip will be:
myself - Nena
my former MIL - Delphia
DD12 - Kaitlyn
DS11 - Nathan (will be 11 in Jan).

We are booked for room 2112 and 2nd dining. I am so looking forward to our cruise. My kids and I sailed the 4-night Wonder in May 2004 - our first Disney Cruise. I heard such wonderful things about it that I booked this 7-night before leaving for the 4-night. Now I'm so glad I did. This will be my 3rd cruise but my FMIL's first. My FMIL has spent so much time taking care of my kids after school until I can get home from work and taking care of her husband who has been battling illness for the past 9 years. I wanted to give her a vacation away from it all. I think the last time she's been on a real vacation was probably about 10 years ago. Needless to say, Delphia is really looking forward to this cruise too.

Hi greytlady,

I added in your names. I have always heard that rescued greyhounds make loyal pets. I am sure your former MIL will have a relaxing trip.

You will be just a few doors down. That will be fun. It's nice to know people on the ship.

I had to look last night to see where the laundry rooms are. It looks as if it's just a couple of doors down from you across from 2096. In case you needed to know too.

:D

yep, I noticed that. I know some like to avoid the laundry rooms, but I'm hoping that it will make it easier to check to see when they are not busy and take advantage of those times. I don't plan to do much laundry, but I think I will need to do a couple of loads later in the week just to keep the swim suit coverups and stuff clean. I really love our location and I'm probably the only person that hopes they don't get an upgrade. My littlest one wakes with the sun and once she's awake, that's it. I am hoping to trick her with no windows and get her to sleep in. I know she will need it with saying up late most nights...also hoping to catch some afternoon naps here and there.

How's everyone doing? So nice - no hurricanes, nice autumn weather, stores all stocked up with their Christmas decorations  (what's up with that?!!)

I haven't heard anything the past few days about Mt. St. Helens. Has it quieted down again, Valli?

Old St. Helens is still doing something... There's been growth on the lava dome at the top of the mountain and the occasional burst of steam. But nothing major so far.

And what is up with the Christmas decor -already! It's not even Halloween yet!

Are your stores in Washington State putting up their Christmas displays too?! Honestly, about 3 weeks ago (it was still September), I walked into the mall and saw the Rich's-Macy's Christmas shop fully operational - I couldn't believe it!!! Since then, whether I'm in Target, Lord & Taylor, or my local grocery store - the Christmas stuff is up.

The local Walmart has some Christmas stuff already up. Mostly it's still Halloween/Thanksgiving - but the Christmas decorations are already starting to appear!

I had a parent teacher conference with Clayton's 3rd grade teacher yesterday. They had to write about their most memorable life experiences. Of course Clayton wrote about going to MGM and visiting Pizza Planet! (Do I have him spoiled for Disney or what!) :earsboy: Funny thing was - the last time we went to MGM was 2 years ago when he was 6. I'm surprised he remembered all of that.

It's way too early for Christmas, because Christmas means snow and I'm not ready for snow! Thankfully, I haven't seen many decorations around Spokane.

Megan (DD6) and I just returned from a surprise weekend at Disneyland. I woke her up early on Thursday telling her that her teacher wanted her to come to school early to help with a special project. We got all the way to the airport before she asked where we were going. The look on her face was priceless...she kept saying "I can't believe we're going to DL." We had SO much fun...just the two of us girls (left the boys at home to fend for themselves). She is definitely spoiled for Disney too. She's already asking me when we're going back. She doesn't know about the cruise yet...haven't decided when to tell her.

P.S. We're in 2610 - looks like deck 2 will be 'DIS'land.

My kids are out of school this upcoming Mon & Tues and so I asked them if they would like to go to WDW, Universal or Busch Gardens. Since they've never been to Busch Gardens, that's where we are headed to this weekend. I can't stand the heat and crowds of summertime so I prefer the off seasons. I was kinda hoping they would pick WDW - oh well, maybe next October's fall break.

Nena

Nena,

I'm so jealous - I LOVE Busch Gardens!! If they like to "perform", make sure you go to the Morrocan Roll show @ the Marakkesh Theatre (I know I'm spelling everything incorrectly!). They can go up on stage and Walk Like An Egyptian with the dancers - FUN! Have a camera ready! They have a good mix of shows & rides there. It's not Disney, but it's still a great place!

Do you belong to AAA? They usually have a buy one day/the 2nd day's free ticket.

Have a blast! Let us know how it went when you get home. In Cobb County, GA we only get this Friday off. My DD's Girl Scout Troop is going on their Juliet Lowe weekend to Savannah (this is the troop's 7th year and they've been saving up their cookie proceeds for 5 years to make this trip!)

Mousecrazy, those girls only weekends will be hold a special place in Megan's heart always. What a nice Mommy you are! I'm sure you'll come up with a special way to tell her about the cruise. Anyone have any ideas for Lisa?

Valli, it always amazes me the things kids remember - both the good and the not so good!!!! Doesn't it just warm your heart to realize what an impact that trip had on your young son?

Some of the things they remember! Right after our first cruise they had to write a short paper on what they had done for spring break(1st grade - so it wasn't too much). He wrote all about his "crooz" with Mickey Mouse! It was so cute. I had to keep it - just so I can show it to him again when he's about 30!:p

Too cute!! :) For my grown son's last birthday, I gave him a scrapbook (actually 2 - 1st was birth thru elementary school; 2nd was 6th grade thru college graduation). I had some of his more memorable writings and drawings in it! It took many months to put together, but he has had more "fun" with it!

Laura,

Thanks so much on the tips in visiting Busch Gardens. Glad to hear you enjoyed going there. I am looking forward to our trip. I love amusement parks and the kids will enjoy the animals. I picked up our tickets from AAA last week.

Hope your DD enjoys Savannah! I remember my Kaitlyn having to do those cookie sales. I still have a box frozen in my freezer. The thin mints are all gone though.

We had flakes last night and this morning :( I keep telling myself it means this much closer to the trip! Think happy thoughts of sun and sand :) Still waiting to get my REAS ressies. On hold till November to get those.

Also waiting to see if I have any restrictions from the doc for activities on this trip. Its funny last year this time I had the gift of two root canals due to a two year old injury . This year I get the gift of being diagnosed with Asthma!? Still trying to figure this one out! Thought maybe I had walking pneumonia, some sort of respiratory thing for the last six weeks :( Half wondering if I've had this all my life and its just decided to rear its ugly head :) Adventures of life! Oh well the inhaler is the best at the moment, haven't felt this good in a long time! :) So now its back to the ole exercise routine before we get the first major snowfall. Still want to lose more weight before the cruise.

Oh something everyone might want to look at. Saw Avon had this bag to hold your shampoos, bottle etc. And it hangs on the hook of a door. Thought it looked like a good idea for cruising :)

Stacey,

BRRRRRRR!!! It's even been cold down here in Georgia!! (We'll be back up in the 70's in a day or 2! :) )

Think positively, everything will be OK. At least now that you've been diagnosed, you're getting the proper treatment. I think asthma can be present for years without any obvious symptoms (same for diabetes and high blood pressure). Guess that's a plug for the good old annual physical!

Nice to see the counters in the 160's -- slowly but surely we're getting there!

The Avon bag looks like a good idea. We've used the shoe holders from WalMart (only $5 or $6) - not pretty, but functional!

We're warming back up...50 today and sunny. Suppose to see 60's again this week but they warn this is likely to be the last of it :( Try to give my jeep one more bath next weekend before I have to depend on the car washes to take care of it. I keep thinking I was almost on my way to WDW this time last year::sigh::

Doc said the same thing...this can actually come and go. It may disappear and never present itself again after a few months or years. I just never would have thought. Well at least it wasnt option three..heart failure. Now that startled me. Too young for that to be even a thought! So all in all I guess I prefer this diagnosis to the other options :)

I ordered one of those bags from avon so I'll let you guys know how much it holds. I suppose for more than a person or two the shoe bags would be a better option. I had that on my list to pick up till I saw this :)

Getting closer...had to sit my parents down this morning and go over the parks and if or where they wanted to eat on property. Looks like they'll be venturing off property for most of their meals. So I'll just start planning mine....hmm...wonder how many times I can eat at Alfredo's in Italy before I tire of it :teeth:
I just want to get the REAS settled so I don't have to worry about the ressies on board. Sitting here counting the days to November. Once I get everything settled I can relax. I actually decided to get into Cocoa Beach couple days ahead of time. Figured the drive down is going to wear me out so I'll have an extra day in Cocoa to sleep in and relax to kick start the vacation :)

Please tell me everyone else is planning everything too. Hate to think its just me. I'll be worse when the snow sets in and I don't want to go outside ! Will have the Passporters memorized by then!
