April 17, 2011 on the Dream

AHHHH! I just booked my airfare for return trip in May - just 17 days after we return from this trip!:banana: This is why my DH is on the "doesn't know what him list"! :lovestruc He was adament that Connor and I were not crashing his PSTC Convention. Just to let you kow what an engineer husband I have, PSTC (Pressure Sensitive Tape Council)!! :lmao: What fun! Anyway - so I argued for it...then came back and said you know your right, it is asking too much - the cruise/WDW in April plus the week at Thanksgiving. Forget it, I am grateful for what I get! :rolleyes1 Then he came back last week and said - you know I think you should go and you should go the whole time I am there. :yay: So now airfare has been purchased - we are all going Tuesday 5/10 - Sunday 5/15. We are staying at Hyatt Grand Cypress because that is where the convention is. Not happy about being off property but not going to complain!! On my way to basement to show DH and DS the official confirmation of airline tickets! Hopefully no buyers remorse...
Debbie

How is that kindle, Sheree?? I'm very interested in those and looking for opinions. Is it user friendly, good in all kinds of light, good selection of books to download???

He thinks I'm the ONLY one doing this DH finally went and picked up some clothes for the trip -- he'll be easy to spot. Everything he bought is in shades of gray or black . Oh well, it'll all go great with his dis green bracelet -- hooray for color!!!! I'm making a 'do not forget to do' list. Hold mail, dog to kennel, withdraw cash for trip. What am I forgetting

that's why our DH's on "don't get it" list :lmao:
What is wrong with our men :confused3? My DH went shopping too last week - same as yours.....every single thing he bought....yes......grey or black
Bridget: add flowers (we set up those special "bubbles" that water them slowly); did you mail your taxes?' clean up refrigerator before you leave and don't forget to throw away garbage ; don't forget to unplug most eclectic devices, turn off water and boiler.

Hi Everyone! My DD (mommybean) just got me set up on the Disboards This will be the 4th Disney cruise for DW & I. We're doing a B2B this time (also on the 4/14 cruise). She mentioned that there were a few people also doing B2B the same dates. We're traveling with DD, DSIL, DGD, and friends.

Getting excited to be on the new Dream Can't wait to meet everybody!

Welcome again  (I just posted on 4/14 and added you to our M&G list)

We all have our moments. I had one this afternoon. :guilty: Became completely overwhelmed with everything I absolutely have to do this week before Saturday morning - on top of everything else I have to do over then next two weeks - on top of working full time. I had a nice timeline going, and then unexpected major projects were dumped in my lap, both with the wedding and at work. Even with my insomnia and active Type-A personality, I don't see how it's going to be possible to get everything accomplished. So, I started making... wait for it... more lists.

I thought I was the only one with insomnia  I went to bed way past 1 am thinking to sleep late this morning - I could not sleep, woke up 2 hrs before my alarm clock!!!
My DH warned me that he would disconnect internet if he sees me on boards until I am done with packing :scared1: :scared1: :sad2:. I was good all day and packed two suitcases !:cool1: 6 days before we leave !:woohoo:
While I was trying to fall asleep I was thinking (oh-oh :scared1:):
1. Would it be a good idea to have a "rain day" alternative place to meet at 2 pm? I don't even want to think about rain, but just in case...
2. I would love to join night club tours as often as possible (may be every night  because I usually go to bed very late any way). Do we have a plan for our DHs? Should they come too and stay at the bar? any other ideas for them? I don't want to leave my DH by himself every evening, he tolerated so much this cruise prep :lmao:
3. There is a chance we might go to EPCOT on 4/13 :yay: instead of third day at US/IOA. I just thought of it this morning :lmao:; we have never seen their flower festival, and we would love to finally see it. I will try to read some posts on our way to WDW, but I know a few of you made minute by minute planning of parks. If anyone could share their thoughts/ideas/must do at Epcot, I would greatly appreciate it :grouphug:

I am back to packing! DH is near by....:scared1: :lmao:

How is that kindle, Sheree?? I'm very interested in those and looking for opinions. Is it user friendly, good in all kinds of light, good selection of books to download???

I have a Kindle and Love it!! I got mine last year (2009) at Christmas so it's a little bigger than the current one. I just noticed in Consumer Reports that the Kindle continues to rate higher than all other e-readers. It is so easy to use and read. The worst part - it is soooo easy to buy new books. I hear about a new book, I can search anywhere and if it sounds interesting purchase right away too. Not good for the impulse shopper such as myself.
I have been considering getting Connor an e-reader lately. He is a voracious reader and I am tired of buying him new books all the time. I have noticed that they have increased the number of tween/teen books that are available. However, I may get him the nook - just because he gets so many Barnes & Noble gift cards.
Definitely a purchase that has been used consistently over the past year! Worth it in my book. Bonus - you only pack one little e-reader not the multiple books when going on vacation. AND with all the FE's who has room for books!
Debbie

I can see I'm in the minority here and I may regret my packing decision, but I like sundresses more than capris or shorts, so I'm packing mostly sundresses, swimsuit dresses and coverups. E.

Well I'llbe joining you with all the sundresses :thumbsup2 I wear scrubs daily and have a couple of capris but a ton of sundresses....guess I go a bit anti-scrub crazy when I am on vacation.

Yelena - We are going to Epcot on 4/21 mainly because of the Flower and Garden Show. I have never been there during that time and the pictures I have seen every year are BEAUTIFUL! Epcot is one of our favorite resorts. In fact, DH and I were just talking about staying at Bc or YC at Thanksgiving instead of our typical WL just so we can have the ease of going into Epcot. We have always wanted to spend more time in the World Showcase - eating and drinking around the world. I made DH an awesome t-shirt a few years ago that has all the beers of Epcot w/Mickey Heads and says drinking around the world - one beer at a time. It is one of his favorite shirts, in fact - he wore it today...hmmm!
Let me know what your plan for Epcot (time or arrival & how long you would be there) and I can give you a good touring plan. I have Epcot down to a science. Message me on FB or PM me...
Hope I can help!
Debbie

Bumperlove- we are from Auburn!

:yay:

This weather is stressing me out! We have to drive to NY Friday for a wedding that begins at 7pm Friday...:headache:

we are from Framingham....lots of MA cruisers!

Howdy neighbors!! I think all us MA cruisers need a break after this winter

that's why our DH's on "don't get it" list :lmao:

The funny thing is Yelena, he really doesn't have alot to go with what he bought. Packing for him will truly be interesting :rotfl: Thanks for the reminders -- we forgot the garbage once ewwwwww :scared1:

P.S I really love Epcot and it's beautiful for the Flower and Garden Festival. We met a great CM there once -- Linda -- she's a diser although I didn't know that until we were talking for awhile. We ended up being the first family at Test Track and she practically gave us a private guided tour of Future World!! She was awesome and it was such a magical day.

Awesome, thanks Debbie :thumbsup2. Last book I brought on vacation was a biggie -- sometimes I read them a few times, but I usually end up passing them along to someone else. The kindle sounds nice.

I FINALLY finished bagging and tagging my FE's and most are already packed. Um, they fill more than one carry on :scared1: and my DH is having a bird. He thinks I'm the ONLY one doing this . DH finally went and picked up some clothes for the trip -- he'll be easy to spot. Everything he bought is in shades of gray or black . Oh well, it'll all go great with his dis green bracelet -- hooray for color!!!! I'm making a 'do not forget to do' list. Hold mail, dog to kennel, withdraw cash for trip. And the dis name tags......! :)

Debbie - I sent you a message on FB.
My DH has Pandigital (I gave it to him on X-mas); it is a little cheaper than Nook, especially if you buy it at Kohl's with their discounts; he can buy form Barnes and Nobles. He LOVES it!

I had the original kindle since it came out, great for traveling, no lugging books!
for Hannukah DH bought me the new one. it's so much lighter! I got a blue cover for the built in light.
I love that there's no glare, you can adjust font etc etc. Amazon has hundreds of thousands of books, even free ones!
I also like i can buy a book anytime, anywhere.
For my son I go to the used book store, he didnt want my old kindle.

I think I'm going with 1 capri night, 1 sundress night, and 2 black dresses. Just doing over from the 3 night!

DH is pretty easy, dockers, polos, shirt, tie, bathing suits, t shirts. DS still has to try on his bathing suits, just bought him new dockers.

we're gone for 8 days, and only want to check 1-2 bags (since they charge). guess I'll do laundry on changeover day

DS upset when he found out friends from first part arent on the 2nd! I had told him but he forgot. Hopefully he meets some that are staying on so he's not miserable the first day. of coiurse being 17, he's miserable more than not!

I love my Kindle!!! I bought it a few months ago and just love it. It's really small, fits easily in my purse, I take it everywhere. I've never had any trouble finding a book that I was looking for. I will also be at the adult pool, with a cappachino from the Cove Cafe, reading my Kindle. Ahhh happy thoughts. :love:Just can't wait.

FE gifts are all bagged and tagged!

I cannot wait for this cruise! I have almost packed all 8 of us. DH doesn't even ask anymore if I have finished all of my surprises for the kids as it seems every day I find something else I need to do. Lists are my lifeline right now.;)

I would love to come meet up with everyone, can I put myself down on the list as a maybe?

[3.12.11 QUOTE=hbg4;40289375]I was just wondering how will we recognise another member of or group ?
Will we have time for lanyards or something easy to spot ?
Brenda[/QUOTE]

Ooohhh, that feels good!!! FE gifts are finally on their way!!! I had to wait until the list was final for mine! So excited!!! You guys are going to love being able to spot everyone easily with these!!

:cool1::love::cool1:

I will break the code of silence and let you all know that normally I organize the wrist band orders for Dis meet groups and we all share the costs but this time, I realized how important they were and how silly it was to do that and not just provide them for everyone!

So everyone will be getting a DIS green silicone wrist band to wear and in this way we will easily be able to spot each other on the ship!! It really was the only way I could identify people on any of my cruises and start conversations out at the pool or at shows even after we had all shared pictures of each other - I never could quite get the names and DIS names straight in my head... which I am sure everyone else, other than our intrepid leaders, are similarly struggling with.

So, I will get these out on the first day of the cruise for everyone in the large and small FE group, so we can get them right on!! :yay:

So excited!!!!! :woohoo::cheer2::grouphug:

I'm so glad that we found a way to easily spot each other. I hadn't seen anyone post a response to my previous quote.
Thanks alot castlegazer for helping up recognize each other:grouphug:

I will be booking the June 15th 2 night cruise out of NY as a surprise 5th grade graduation trip for my daughter next year.....I will try on board to see if they are offering a discount, but wont wait to book. Now to keep my mouth shut for 14 months and to possibly convince husband to go for the Walt or Roy suite!

Lots of activity, if I didn't know better I would think our cruise was less than 2 weeks away ;)

I'm doing really good with my packing. Got just about everything into the packing cubes. Just working on getting down the number of pairs of shoes DD and I are taking. And that is no easy task!

No Kindle or Nook but I have an Ipad and have been loading it up with library books all weekend so I'll be by the pool or having an espresso also!

We'll be cruising soon!
Robin

1. YES! Great idea to have a rainy day back-up plan for our Meet & Greet. The question is where can we go that won't be crowded? Anyone have any ideas?

2. Ummmm... if you bring him, he might be the only guy at the Girl's Night Out tour. ;) According to Sue's schedule, the tour is going to be fairly quick each night with only 15 minutes in the first bar:
April 17th 11Pm Meet at Skyline /11:15 Move to Evolution
April 18th 11PM Meet at Pink/11:15 Move to D Lounge
April 19th 11PM Meet at 687/11:15 Move to District Lounge
April 20th 11PM Meet at Meridian (Deck 12 Aft)

How about if your DH and DD do their own special Father/Daughter date each night so you can go and play with all your new friends? They could make up their own schedule, like one night get ice cream from Eye Scream, another night get snacks and watch a movie on the Funnel View Screen, another night order cookies from room service and watch a show on the TV, and the last night write a trip report together of all their favorite parts of the cruise to give to you as a souvenir. :goodvibes

Lists are my lifeline right now.;)

I'm right there with ya! :rotfl::rotfl:

I would love to come meet up with everyone, can I put myself down on the list as a maybe?

Do you mean for the Girl's Night Out Bar Tour?
