April 17, 2011 on the Dream

There is the most amazing TR in process right now! I double-dog-dare anyone to think their Dream cruise will be anything less than spectacular after reading it! ;) http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2650672 I will caution that there is a lot of mindless chatter in between Timon's posts - so I would suggest just scrolling through each page to her posts only. :thumbsup2

So now that we know (because I've told ya so!) that our Dream cruise is going to be awesome, I think we ought to start posting the best of the most ridiculous complaint posts that we see! (I'd do it on the main thread, but me thinks it might be a tad bit politically incorrect. :lmao:)

I already pointed out the thread where they complained about the sound/tone of the Dream's horn. :upsidedow

Here's another one! http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39871942&postcount=220 All snooty because the watermelon on the Dream has *gasp* seeds!!! Oh the humanity of it all! :rotfl2: Seriously???? :rotfl2:

Hahahahaha!! :lmao: :rotfl2: I saw the watermelon post - are these people for real?? maybe it was a joke... :confused3

I am totally LOVING Timon's TR - it is incredible!!! :woohoo: I feel like I'm already there!!!

ENOUGH ALREADY....... school is closed again today (and possibly tomorrow, or more) because as they were removing snow from the roofs of the school buildings yesterday they discovered "structural issues". We only have two school buildings (one elementary and one middle/high school) so if they are both deemed unsafe, I'm not sure what they will do about school. DW was joking around last night about going somewhere warmer to look for a house (maybe she wasn't really joking all that much!).

***/ I apologize, I think I should have posted this question to the main cruise forum page /*** That being said cannot wait to cruise April 17th!

----

Saw some thread about check in time... I went ahead and checked in... the next available time to check in was 1 p.m. Concerning as we are flying into MCO, arriving around 10:30 a.m. and then taking the Disney bus to the port - bags going directly to room... I called the cruise line and asked them if my family would be dropped off at the dock and then have to wait to board. They said that would not be the case and to just go through the line with everyone else. That being said - hoping the more experienced cruisers can clue me in on what the real experience might be like.

Thank you!

From everything I've read, the check in time is DCL's attempt to try to determine how many people will be in the terminal/checking in during any given time slot. This is a completely new process for them, and I don't think they will ever strictly enforce the check in times. Too many variables for guests - change in travel plans, late flights, traffic, etc. I wouldn't be concerned that you may arrive earlier than 1:00pm.

Has anyone ever rented a bicycle on Castaway Cay? I'm booked to get one. I haven't been on a bicycle since I was a teenager!! Should be fun. Anyone thinking about it or maybe would consider taking a bike ride that day? My DD doesn't ride. (Never got the hang of it...) Hopefully she'll be hanging out with some new friends while I try to keep my balance on two wheels after all these years.:) Don't they say you never forget how? I hope that's true!

I am considering doing it. My son and sister love to ride their bikes. I thought they might enjoy riding around the island. I was going to wait until we got there to make the decision - especially if I keep to my goal of running (run/walk) the 5k, don't know how tired I will be. Do you think I should reserve bikes ahead of time? If we do rent them we'll join you!

Me too, me too:banana: but I hope they make extra wide seats for my extra-wide tushy!

I didn't reserve that or the tubes yet. I thought we could probably do that "on the fly", right?

I am losing my mind - I am making all sorts of fun images now that I got the hang of it for the FE's and my shirts now that i downloaded that Disney font and I can't stop designing stuff (and I'm supposed to be working!!!). One thing I made for the kids was a door hanger :ssst: so don't say anything to them (and those Tweens/teens who are checking us out, don't blow the secret!). :)

OMG that sucks!!! I wouldn't trust myself if that had happened to us - never know what i would be doing right now! My daughter (5 turning 6 on Saturday) said to me the other day, in what I thought was a joke, so "when do we move to Florida?" When I picked her up from school that evening, she said it again in a much more serious tone. When I answered, "oh, honey, we are not moving. My job is here." She burst out crying!

This is taking a toll on everyone. I am so psyched its warm today and melting some of this crap! This morning was gorgeous!

Forgot to say that whenever Timon does a trip report, you have to read it and save it! She is an amazing woman, and I like to consider her a virtual friend!

I am so psyched you mentioned you is doing one right now! It would have taken me a while to find it as I am avoiding the complainers right now. I am one who gets pretty freaked at the concept of lines and crowds being overwhelming, so I need to stop reading about it.

We're going! We're gonna have a great time! And we have plenty of time, doing back to backs, to discover all there is to know and plan attacks to avoid lines. :cutie::goodvibes:thumbsup2

oh YUM!!! :lovestruc just saw this on Timon's TR...

Also how about the chocolate covered strawberries. Are they free? or are they in one of those places where it will ocst you something. If they were free I would be asking for the whole tray!

Yup, all free! They are in the cabinet in Cove Cafe...just have to ask for them! I brought back 2 for me and 2 for Michelle but she didn't want them so I ate all four...

WELCOME SARAC!!! :dance3::cheer2::grouphug:

There are amazing people on this cruise who can help you with all questions you may have! I wouldn't worry about the check-in time at all.

But I also may not be familiar with the new system - I didn't on-line check-in yet. Should I have done that a while ago? What's up with this?

One of the last steps in the online check process is to select what time you plan on arriving at the port. The times are in 30 minutes "slots" starting at 10:30 and the time you select is printed on the contract/charge form that you print after everything is complete. I have seen reports that some of the "slots" fill up and are grayed out so you can't select them. Since they just started doing this, we'll have to wait and see if they get serious about enforcing it at the port, but I really have to doubt they would - too many variables affect guest arrival time. Platinum and Concierge guests do not have to select a time and it states that they are welcome to arrive at their leisure.

Can we check in without my husband's passport number? It didn't come in the mail yet!:scared1:

You can change the option from "passport" to "photo ID" and get past it ;)
Someone (sorry, can't remember who) passed that on to me when I was freakin out trying to check in :rolleyes1

Do you people go to work? :lmao: :grouphug:
I love our board and all chit-chatting :thumbsup2  and I am going to talk about the weather :)because it is so beautiful :cool1: and snow is finally melting:dance3: and there is no snow in the forecast for the next 7 days
Doing my sunny day dance:dance3:

I doubt you really have to reserve in advance, but I did just in case since it was available to reserve. I ought to do like Deb T. and create a list of bike riders...Let's see...

Anyone else? :rotfl:

When we went on our Wonder Cruise 2 years ago we did the Sting Ray Adventure, rented floats/snorkel gear, and bike rental package, and paddle boats. We did Sting Ray Adventure only to listen to my now 13 yr DD freak out about not wanting to step on them because they hide in the sand. My husband's sugar levels were unbelieveable that day between all the in/out of heat/air conditioning. He did not feel well at all, so we did not get a chance to bike ride. We went back to ship after paddle boating. When we rented paddle boats the Pirates of the Caribbean ship did not look as far as it was from shore. The return trip to shore was an adventure which don't think hubby will let me live down. It was a good chuckle . (Have bad knees.) I am always glad to provide a smirk.

Gabby still wants to bike ride this year. I agree with PPs (a) haven't ridden bike in about a century or two :lmao: and (b) need wide seat for backside. ;)

I read the same thing this morning. :woohoo: I love each trip report she has written. I am home with a sick toddler today so during nap time I read the trip report. C'mon spring!!!!!
