April 17, 2011 on the Dream

Hi Ladies,

Few questions before I hit the send key on the comfot suites room. Did you book for the night of April 17 - 18th, 1 night? If so, it states that if you do not check in by 7:00AM the following morning they cancel the room and you will still be charged.

Did you do the 18th - 19th instead? If so, they'll let you go use Atlantis whatever time you get there, even if your room isn't ready? Please confirm and thanks!

Sandy

Sandy, We booked for 4/18-4/19. You can check in and out at the same time, even if the room is not ready -- we're not even going to our room, we just want the wristbands for Atlantis.

That's my problem then. I went to book for the 18th and the price is $291 (AAA) instead of $180. They went up over $100 since the time of your booking.

You lucked out!! :thumbsup2 Have fun!

OK, I called the hotel direct and they said you'd have to book for April 18-19th which is $291. If you book on the 17th-18th, they will cancel your reservation if you are not checked in by 7:00AM on the 18th. Double check everyone!

WOW! This is very valuable advice for anyone who has already booked the Comfort Suites in Nassau!!! Thanks for checking into this and letting everyone know!

:welcome: to the new people!

and party: Happy New Year! party: to everyone else!

Now that Christmas is done, our thread's getting buzzzzyy again. Nice.

I wish I had checked in a little bit earlier to get that $180 AAA rate. :rolleyes1 Technically, we're still planning on staying on the ship, but I will get off for that rate if it comes back.

:yay: A couple more weeks until we can make reservations! :yay: Things are hopping now.

I'm starting to delve into my plans more again. Now I'm comparing self tanning lotions. :rotfl2: It's turning out to be a major project!

Thanks for adding us NESS2289! I am getting more excited every day! Included in my family are DH, DD15, DS13 and DD8! We just told the kids about the cruise on Christmas. It is much more exciting to plan when you can actually talk about it.

Got it!:thumbsup2 (List Edited to include children/ages)

Now I'm comparing self tanning lotions. :rotfl2: It's turning out to be a major project!

Please let me know what you discover! I've used all kinds of self-tanners (from very expensive to very cheap) and haven't been happy with any of them. :sad2:

Happy New Year!!!! :cheer2::yay::woohoo::banana:

The cruise is less than 4 months away, time to get busy!!!! I'm so excited it's all I can think about.

Can't wait for the Dream to arrive in Florida and get some first hand reports on what she's like!

That's a bummer :sad2:. Keep checking though -- a week ago I checked and the rack rate was $324. I'll post again if I see the price drop.

I *think* there is only one other ship in port with us that day.

Yep - according to the port schedule, there is only one other ship in port that day, but it is a BIGGIE - The Allure of the Seas!! The anticipated passenger load from the Dream and the Allure is projected at 9400 people!

Should be interesting to see how much bigger the Allure is.

Yes, thanks for the heads up, Bridget! I was able to book the $200 rate on Thursday.:thumbsup2

I've been going back and forth about it, though, trying to decide if it will be worth it if my 7 yo won't do the waterslides... and debating about the risk of eating the cost if we don't dock in Nassau that day. (Anyone know if that has ever happened? We ended up switching our CC and At Sea days on our April 2009 Disney cruise due to high waves.)

Since I can cancel up until the 14th, I'll sweat it out a bit longer given the $124 price difference in room rates. Sheesh!

I'm supposed to be studying again - but the subject is soooo dry.:badpc:

Hey guess what?? Thursday, January 7th will be an even 100 days out! Thank goodness this financial calculator is good for somethin!:lmao:

Happy New Year! E.

I am getting more excited by the day! The FE gift exchange was a great idea to get involved with. My 15 year old dd has been having a great time organizing gifts! I have a couple of questions I am hoping someone can answer

First of all my DD15 posted on what looks like an inactive teen thread for the cruise. Is there an active thread for teens she can join?

also, my Dh had planned to take our DS13 to the beach in the Bahamas to rent jet skis but after reading some negative reports we have decided against that. Has anyone rented jet skis from a reputable company in the Bahamas before? He would like to avoid the disney jet skis as he is more interested in just riding around and not interested in a tour.
Thanks for any help you can give me!
Christine

I'm so glad you're DD is excited about the FE Exchange! :goodvibes It really is a very fun activity! :lovestruc

I suspect that the teen thread just hit a lull during the holidays. This thread, as well as our facebook page, have also been very quiet these past few weeks. Now that the holidays are over and our cruise is getting closer, I'm confident that there will be a lot more posting on all threads. :thumbsup2

By Bahamas, do you mean while docked in Nassau? If so, hopefully someone can help with some info for you. If you're wanting another option for Castaway Cay, I don't think there is one since it is completely owned and operated by DCL.

Happy New Year everyone. I have not been active at all...but I am starting to get excited with the Dream coming into port this week.:cool1::cool1::cool1:

I am still confused about the comfort suites...maybe someone can help.:confused3

right now we have a reservation for $250 a night plus taxes. Thery estimate the taxes to be $70.90 for a total of $320.90

but then I read on their website that there is addiotnal energy surcharge of $12.95 per day and A $5.00 a day houskeeping charge. I t sounds like that is in addition to those $70.90 in taxes. If that is the case my cost for the room would go up to around $375 and that does not include transportation or any food at the Atlantis(that I hear is very expensive)

Anyone have luck booking Palo brunch....I went on last night at midnight and there were not reservations left....there were also no 8:30 dinner reservations left at Palo so I booked a 6 o'clock. I wonder how many slots they are leaving open for booking onboard.

Happy Planning everyone.:yay::yay::yay:

I just called to adjust our rate for AAA - HURRY UP!!! They have one more room available at $180 aaa/$200 rate! Good luck!:wizard:
If you don't get it - keep on checking; once somebody cancels, it would show up again. I checked for April 15 - no rooms at that rate :rolleyes1

I am not sure, but since taxes are 18% it's about $48 from $250; thus, your estimated taxes fee of $70.90 should include energy and housekeeping surcharge for at least one person. However, I am confused myself: are these surcharges per person or per room. :confused3

Very productive day: paid in full for our b2b cruises (just waiting for $203 Disney rewards money which we got just for opening an account with them = we will apply towards payment :cool1:); got travel insurance; adjusted Comfort Suites rate to $180 :dance3:
Now, how do you decide for what time/day reserve brunch/dinner at Palo? :confused3 I don't want to miss any fun activity ...

Do you have main or late dining? We have the 7pm show and late dining. We decided to book Palo at 6pm on the sea day. We are hoping to be able to go to the 5pm show, then eat dinner at Palo, and then go to our regular dining rotation restaurant at 8:30. *burp* :rotfl: I'm sure we'll be full from Palo, so we plan to go the 8:30 dinner just to experience the "show".

Wow, sounds like a great plan, if your stomach can handle it . Our first half we have 6 pm dinner and 9 pm show; for this part of the cruise, we have the same as you, 7 pm show and 8:30 dinner. I dont think I will be handle two dining rooms on the same night:cutie:, but I will suggest this option to my DH :thumbsup2

Yelena, you said you called? I'm going online - am I missing something? I went to www.comfortsuites.com and put in Nassau, BS for April 18-19. $291 on AAA as of this morning. I did check over the weekend as well, and still no change.. :headache:

If anyone wants to link up for dinner, please let me know. I have late seating.

I'm just about to remind Tracy my TA that I want to be sure to sit with other people. As I've said before my DS's never join me for dinner and one cruise we had a table to ourselves. :( Luckily, there were other dis'ers with non-joining children. But the servers were aggitated about my randomly switching to another table so now I plan ahead.

I've been trying to remind my 17 y/o dd that she needs to get over to that teen thread and get it moving. Now that vacation is over, I hope she'll post over there. It sure would be nice to have the teens talking before they board!!!

Hope everyone had safe and happy holidays. Can't believe we can say that we sail this year.
