Happy Birthday Kenzey! :cheer2:

Well, we've officially booked!!!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

It will be myself, DH, DD almost 13, and DS 10. We got a non connecting 4A on deck 9 9074!!!!! Can't wait!!!!!!

Yes, welcome aboard! :wizard:

It's amazing how much more the 4/24(??date) 4 day cruise is after us! I think Disney miscalculated when choosing the dates and thought more schools would be out that week instead of our week. Our cruise only has cat's 4 and 5 left and the next one is still fairly open. It makes sense for schools not to leave the break until the fourth week, even with Easter being so late!

And I'm still trying to wrap my head around what to do before and after the cruise. (Not like I don't have a whole year or anything. :rolleyes1 ) My boys are getting older and I'm not sure if the whole running around Magic Kingdom will do it for them anymore, even though it'll always work for me. We have those 7 day tickets to Universal for HP after the cruise, but I still would like to stay at WDW...I dunno. Lots to think about!

My DS looked at the whole Vibe teen area. I kinda agree with him that the whole color scheme is kinda really modernistic. Very bright for sulky moody teenagers, if you know what I mean. He's hoping the counselors from the Magic will have moved to the Dream as they created alot of the fun. Like I said before, I barely saw him on the last cruise. He was in the stack the whole time.

And how great to have a 'tween' area in the stack now just in time for my youngest DS who will be 13 to still remain separated from the oldest. They drive each other crazy and anyone around them! It's sooooo perfect timing for me.

I'm really looking forward to next year. I wish we had another vacation between now and then, but a new ship to explore is gonna be great.

I don't know how many people you were looking for when you last checked, but I was on DCL's website yesterday and there are still categories available in GTY status for inside, outside and verandah and a few that you could still pick your cabin. I was looking at changing our cabin from a verandah to an outside non-connecting but couldn't find one in an area I liked.
I was looking at booking for 2 adults, 1 teen.

The site keeps changing what is available. I am checking as right now we are scheduled to do B2B :confused3 4/14 and 4/17 cruise, but we don't have the same room number. The 3 night 4/14 still has alot of rooms open(we are just going with an 11B this time as last time we were upgraded to a verandah but only used it about 20 min total) Still not sure if we will definitely do the three night cruise or do something else. I think my kids would die at disney with Easter crowds when were are used to going midNovember, plus we will likely return to Disneyworld Nov 11. I wanted to go to Universal(never been there) as I figured we could get the front of the line pass and make the parks manageable. The girls want to do the B2B so since I had some extra cash right now, I went ahead and booked the B2B and if we decide not to do the 4/14 three night, can just move the deposit on the balance of this cruise. Decisions, decisions but I admit I am a bit obsessed over it..

Think we did plan our other vacations..... 3 nights in NagsHead area just at a hotel and to get the feel for the Outer Banks, then drive up to Virginia Beach for 6 nights late June. Then I have some delta passes to use up, so going to fly to NYC for the weekend of Nov 12(the weekend we are usually flying to WDW). So that should put those trips all about 5 months apart... then 5 months to the Dream. Yes.. you can see obsession :rolleyes1

Oh, I forgot it depends on the people and the age of the kids! I was looking for 1 adult and 3 teenaged kids. I ran searches for 2 adults 2 kids and various other mixtures...and yeah, cat. 8's are coming up in the 3 combos but not 4.

Well...I know I'm complaining about the lack of vacation this year...but I do live on Cape Cod. I should plan a pretend 'vacation' during the summer and do some serious beach time, considering the bay is like one minute to my right side and the ocean is 10 minutes to my left. :dance3: It's just like anything else: If your used to it, it's not special :laundy:......that and I'd rather be in WDW.

Am I correct in assuming there 2 restaurants on the Dream serving French Cuisine ? I was on the Disney website reading about the Dream and I thought it said that.

You are probably like me and don't see the need for paying for beach time when on a cruise. We live close to the DE beaches and always gone there and even had a place down there for a few years, so paying for a beach excursion is not something that I can ever see doing.

So far the rumor is there's going to be a 2nd adults only pay restaurant that will feature french food, but that hasn't been confirmed as of yet. It's even rumored to be called Remy's. I'd rather go to a french restaurant than an italian one. I can't remember what the 3 rotational restaurants cuisine is supposed to be.

We're on it! Hey Outahere, we were on the April 2008 cruise with you! Gotta love these school vacation cruises!

We got a Cat. 4C room 7116.

Massachusetts is one of only a few, maybe even the ONLY state that does not set it's spring break with Easter. Our April vacation is always the 3rd full week of April, no matter when Easter falls. Many other states use Easter to determine when they will break. That is why Disney has it set as a prime week. We're lucky...we can go and not pay as much money, and deal with less crowds. :goodvibes

My Dh is kind of bothered by the size of the Dream. We noticed the ship is bigger, yet the staterooms are smaller than on the Wonder. He said it is to cram as people on as possible. I told him he was full of it..until I compared the two ships. The Wonder can accomodate 2400 passengers, while the Dream can accomodate 4000 passengers. Do you think we will be able to feel the difference?

Actually the Magic/Wonder can accomodate 2750 passengers. We've sailed on a full ship several times and didn't really notice it all the crowded.
We've sailed on a Carnival ship that held 3400 passengers and since the ship is larger you don't notice the extra people.
You have to compare the entire size of the ship with the number of people each holds as opposed to comparing just the number of people. The Dream is much larger thus it can hold that many more people and still feel comfortable for all. The Dream is taller, longer and wider so everyone can spread out more.
I have a feeling when you will notice the volume of passsengers is when debarking at Port Canaveral and possibly in other ports.

But all in all, they will only book as many passengers as the lifeboats will hold. That's all I care about.

That's certainly one way to look at it! :rotfl:

lol.....

Our school doesn't even have a spring break. That is why I have always taken the girls out a week in November. We only ever get off just Good Friday.

Oh my! I couldn't survive without a spring break! I start counting down for it on the first day of school! :rotfl:

We're in!! First cruise.:cool1::cool1:

We booked today and could only get 4C. We are a family of 6. I wanted two cat 11 but ended up with a 4C for 5 of us. One DS is going to stay with our best friends who (lucky for us) have one child. We are in 7112 and our friends are in 7044 (cat 5C). I hope these were good choices - I have no idea since I've never been on a cruise.

We also had to take the 2nd dinner seating but waitlisted for the first. Anyone have any thoughts on whether there is a chance the waitlist will come through?

Its me, DH, DS14, DS12, DS10, DD5. Our friend's have a DD12.

Sounds like it will be a full ship - will we feel really crowded?

Barbara

Welcome Aboard, Barbara!

If your 2nd seating waitlist does not come through, you can also try to change it as soon as you get on the ship. :thumbsup2 We personally like 2nd seating because it give us more daylight time to do things. :)

The ship might be full, but I don't think it will feel crowded. There are always a lot of different things to do while onboard, which helps to spread people out so that everyone's not all gathered in one place at the same time.

Thanks, Deb. I was thinking the same thing about the 2nd seating - my kids are used to eating late, but our friends are hesitant. I'm happy either way.

Now the looooooong wait. I don't know if I'll make it.
