April 17, 2011 on the Dream

I thought so too....but I don't remember who else is doing it b2b this way...

Me, me, me, ooooo, ooo, that's ME!!!:jumping2:

April 14th and April 17th cruises back to back! I can't wait to do the "get off get right back on" at the Terminal!! can you imagine the amount of time we are going to have to explore that monster of a ship with so few aboard!!! Exciting!!!

I know, I have been a lousy DIS'r this trip - completely weird for me actually. I think I am just overwhelmed by the shere numbers on this ship.

But I am lurking as much as possible - so I am here! :cutie:

So, you'll be up there waving to us??? Glad you're at least lurking!!!

Paid off our balance today and bought private trip insurance. Filled out the kids passport info (to get tomorrow). Wow, this must mean its getting closer! Booked 1/12 of 2010, so Ive been waiting for a year now, and the kids STILL dont know! We told them they need passports as thier dad will be spending several weeks in germany this spring, and its just in case of emergency (which is partially true!).

Yikes... now to really decide on our excursions. Have the comfort suites booked at the $200 rate, but when all is said and done it will be at least $350 (between taxes, fees, transportation and lunch). Very not sure if it would be worth it with my youngest being 5 (and on the small side) and not adventurous. We know we will be back to the Atlantis as a desination vacation when they are older.

So, toying with touring the digs, beaching it or staying on the ship. I wish there was one clear cut thing I wanted to do here. I do know we will want to be showered and ready for dinner on our nassau day, as its also my birthday (and I dont want to miss my birthday dinner.. lol).

So sick of the snow here in CT. Its too deep for my little one to easily even walk though. We need snow removal around here.... we got 28 inches on top of the foot we still had on the ground. yuck!

How do I get a day rate for the comfort suites....I don't see anything on the website.

If you're asking about the Comfort Suites on Paradise Island, there is no "day Rate" per say. You're actually booking into the hotel, but they understand that people are just doing it to get to Atlantis. So you book in and book out at the same time.

The 200 dollar rate is on Comfort Suites website. It can drop to 180 if you have AAA. Please notice that this Comfort Suites add alot of additional fees and taxes which will bring the total up to around $350 depending on the size of your group.

You need to compare it to Disney's Atlantis excursion or Atlantis directly to see if you've saved money. Mostly, the answer is yes.

However, if the ship can't dock for any reason and you've booked Comfort Suites, then the money is forfeit. With Disney, you would be re-imbursed. If you were buying Atlantis day passes, they can sell out of those pretty quickly and there is another big ship in port that day with us-somebody poster earlier- the Allure of the Seas and the head count between us and them is 9700 total.

Sue is right about the possible forfeit, that's why I added the cost of the CS room into my trip insurance. Didn't make the quote move much at all, and so worth the peace of mind!

RDevine, didn't you say you are from Ridgefield? I'm in Trumbull, also with a whopping 28 new inches. I walked up my walkway and was literally between 2 four-ft walls of snow. It's like an igloo!

We'll wave to you from the terminal balcony! :wave2:

we will wave too :thumbsup2 :wave2:

I am so glad we will not be the only ones waving to Deb. :cool1:
We have never done b2b before, I hope it will be a quick off/on procedure. Are you lurking on 4/14 boards too?

It was me that lives in Ridgefield :) Holy snow, it's about the same height as my dog. She's made lots of trails in the yard and just sticks to those! I don't know where they will put snow if we get anymore before this melts!!!

Getting ready to stay up to midnight tonight so I can try and book Palo. I know I read that brunch was already booked, guess I'll have to camp out in line when we board. We are doing a B2B with the 4/21 cruise so I'm hoping we can at least 1 dinner at Palo. Can't believe we are at the 90 day mark!

Close, but Im in Sherman. The snow is a nightmare around here! The school parking lot, etc for the kids is a nightmare! Hope they clean things up this weekend!

Took the kids for passports this morning and the lady at the post office almost blew our surprise, even though I had a VERY BOLD post it placed right on the paper I handed her stating the passport was for a surprise trip.

Disaster averted at least one more day. Not sure when we are telling the kids, but Im not ready to yet :)

We live in CT, too! We just went to apply for our passports this morning. My photo looks like a mug shot!!

Hello all~

I just booked a day at the Comfort Suites at the AAA rate of 180 plus taxes. Now I see that there may be additional taxes/fees that have to be paid at the hotel? It is me, DH, DS, 16 and DD, 13. Does anyone know how much it will ultimately cost? I figure if its that much we will stay on ship and enjoy the activities there.

Also, booked it for April 18th but I notice it says check in at 3:00 pm. Would we be able to get the passes for Atlantis in the AM?

Thanks for your help!

Eileen

The fees are crazy. I believe it would be as follows:

in addition to the taxes, etc shown in your total (which should be around $70ish?), there will be a $40 fee for your 16 year old (as she is considered an another adult), and then a $12.95 fee per person for energy for anyone 12 and older and then a $5 per person housekeeping fee for anyone 12 and older. So basically your $180 room now costs roughly in the neighborhood of $360ish (and you still need to pay to get to the hotel via taxi ($4 per person each way) or watertaxi ($3 per person each way) AND eat lunch there (which is very pricey!). Not to be a downer, but the $180 is really no where close to what you will be paying!

On the plus side, I was looking at my southwest flights and for the way home one of the non stops had greatly reduced in price and now we get to fly non stop home for the same $ :)

So here's my question, We are doing the 4/17 cruise along with the 4/21 cruise for a lovely B2B cruise! We were thinking we'd go to Atlantis one day and possibly just stay on the ship the other. We'd obviously like to stay on the ship when it's less crowded.

Because the 4 day has a sea day do you think more people will get off the ship that day as opposed to the 3 day when some people use the Nassau day as their sea day????

It looks like the number of ships and guests in port both days are pretty much the same. Which day would you stay on? :confused3

Thanks so much :) Definitely not worth the extra bucks. I would do it for the 180 but there is so much to do on the ship, I think I might just cancel the reservation.

Congrats on the flights! Mine went down too so I rebooked and got credits. Guess I will have to go back to Disney before summer ends lol.

Boy, it's really hard to say. I've often heard the assumption that the 3-day cruises are full of first-time cruisers. It is other DISer's opinions that these cruises mostly have people who are trying out cruising for the first time or people who don't have the funds to do a longer cruise. However, we've done four 3-night cruises, mostly because we usually don't want to be gone the entire spring break week. And, it's been our experience that there are plenty of other return guests, too.

But, if it's true that the 3-night cruise has more first-timers, then maybe you could assume that most of them would debark in Nassau to explore the port? :confused3 Conversly, if the 4-night cruise has more repeat guests, then most of them might stay onboard on Nassau day since they've already been there, done that? If those two assumptions are true, then Nassau on the 3-night would be the better choice.

We are staying onboard both Nassau days! :cool1:

I just checked and it's showing Palo brunch is available for 1 or 2 guests at 10:30. Now that may or may not show up for you since there were issues with Palo bookings this past summer - showing availability for Platinums and not for Gold or Silvers.

Palo dinner is wide open except for 6:00 the last night.
