OK, DCL Veterans....
Dressy night - What about the girls (tweens/teens)? Husbands?

Please advise.... and thanks!

I had a denimish' black skort from Target with a tank and bright pink denim jacket, my girls had just sundresses and sandels(really flip flops) and to be honest, we were much more dressed up than most. Maybe it was early dinner, but I kinda felt like most of the others didnt' know it was dress up night.

OK, DCL Veterans....
Dressy night - first, WHY? But OK, I won't fight it. Please let us know the following:

Our last DCL was 7 nights. On formal night we didn't see many people really dressed up though. I wore a sundress with a wrap, DD had a sundress on, and DH wore a dress shirt with a Donald Duck tie. ;) We definitely did not go all out and didn't feel out of place at all. I plan on doing something similar this time. No luxurious dresses, suits and all of that - we want to be comfy! :)

1. How dressy is dressy? What is appropriate and what can we get away with without appearing like the schlumps...
a) Ball gown
b) cocktail dress :headache: :headache:
c) dressy pants, heels, nice top (do I have to?) :headache:
d) or a sundress w/sandals (more like it) :)

Well...... as a guy, you really DON'T want to see me in any of the choices! :rolleyes1

However, on the 4 night cruises my DW usually wears either D above, or capris and a nice top. I usually wear Dockers and either a polo shirt or a dress shirt with no tie. We do get a little dressier on the longer cruises, but not much.

What...:scared1: no heels and sparkly dress for you?!? :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Sounds like most of us pretty much dress the same way on the shorter cruises, comfy but still looking nice.

I usually wear a black sleeveless jersey dress with strappy sandals. Dh wears khaki's, blue blazer, button down oxford shirt and has a tie...wears the tie depending on our tablemates..he doesn't like them to feel badly if the other guys aren't as dressed as he is....so he can take off the tie and stuff it in a pocket. Dd will most likely wear a sundress type thing. We don't get too dressed up.

I would be very interested in doing one - I have a 4A I would be happy to show. I have a friend with a CAT 10.....Anyone else interested....

Wow, thanks for all the replies. I'm glad to know that I won't have to take my mink out of storage or my tiara from the safety deposit box! :lmao:

So, here are the options for anyone who is signed up for the FE exchange (or will be signing up for the FE exchange):
Full FE Group #1: anyone who doesn't mind doing the exchange with a large group.
Smaller FE Group #2: anyone who would prefer to be in an exchange limited to 10-12 families.

If you are already on the list for the FE Exchange, please take a minute and either send me a pm or post your group preference here. I will keep track of who is in which group, and update accordingly. :thumbsup2

Hi Deb.

We opt for option #1, the more the merrier.

Many thanks,
Karen

:rotfl2: Got it! :)

So far, 11 of the original 24 participants have asked to be in the larger, (Group #1) FE Exchange:
Deb T. & DH
Ness2289 & DD12
alenushka & DH, DD10, (and maybe DS in college)
bdink921& DH, DS12
guarn3md & DS9, DParents, DSis7
ydrj & DH, DS16, DD14
svcutler & DH, DD15, DD11
jeni37 & DH, DS14, DS10, DD6
disneycruisegal & DH
allaboutdisney1967 & DH, DD13
goofy4tink & DH, DD17

No one yet has specifically indicated they'd like to be in the smaller FE Exchange Group, which will be limited to 10-12 families. However, there had been three people who had contacted me previously about splitting up the group, so I think there's a possibility of at least those three being in the smaller group.

Based on past experience, I believe that there could be as many as ten more families joining the FE by the April 1st deadline (maybe more, maybe less). I can't anticipate which group they'd like to be in, though.

So, those are my rambling, "thinking out loud" thoughts. :upsidedow I just wanted to let everyone know up front what they may or may not be getting into. :flower3: Like I posted earlier, I aim to please! I want the FE exchange to be a positive experience for everyone. :lovestruc

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me. :grouphug:

Hi Deb,

Has anyone requested to be in both FE Exchange Groups? I may want to go that route.

Karen

For dressing up, I usually bring my favorite black skirt and shoes and 3 different tops, and hair clips.

It's my version of mix and match!:bride:

Gotcha! :thumbsup2

Hi Deb,

Karen

Hmmmm, I hadn't thought of that as an option. It's certainly something I'd want to do, as well. I definitely have enough FE gifts! :goodvibes

However, so far, everyone who has responded has indicated they would like to be in the larger group, so there might not end up being a smaller group after all.

Let's wait and see how many end up opting for a smaller group. I promised to keep it limited to no more than 12. If there are less than 12 in the smaller group as of the deadline (4-1-11), I will add anyone who would like to be in both groups on a first come -first served basis until it reaches 12. You could call it a waiting list, per se. So, first on the waiting list to be in BOTH groups is you (Karen from VA) and second on the waiting list is me (Deb T.).

Does all this make sense to anyone else besides me??? :rotfl: Or have I completely lost my marbles. (Wouldn't be the first time!) :rotfl2: I really, really, really do aim to please. :) If you have any questions regarding all the different FE options (or to my sanity), please don't hesitate to ask! :goodvibes

Will that be listed in the Navigator as to what time you can make changes to the FE group? :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:
Sorry I was just reading the onboard dining changes thread and you mentioned being first in line. :hippie:

Hello Fellow Cruisers!

I thought maybe I should bring everyone up to speed on our FE Exchange. [I hear Julie Andrews singing, "Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start....]

Here's a short version of how a FE Exchange works:
Before you leave for the cruise:
*Buy or make little surprises for the other participants. Some people give one surprise per person in the cabin, some people do one gift per cabin, some people do goody bags per person or cabin - it's totally up to you!
*Print a copy of the list of final participants so you'll know which cabins to deliver your goodies to. (I'll send the final list to all participants by Private Message on April 2nd.)
Once you're onboard the ship:
*Hang a FE or bag outside your cabin door. I'm not sure yet if it will be the same kind of Fish clip that's on the Wonder and Magic, but there should be something to hang it on, even if it's just the door handle. Your FE can be anything, just as long as it can hold a few treats! I use a small canvas bag, but many people have gorgeous personalized hanging pockets (very similar to hanging letter holders).
*Whenever it's convenient during the cruise, have fun delivering your FE gifts to the other participants.
*ENJOY peeking inside your FE everyday to see what surprises have been delivered to your FE!

If you would like to participate, here are your options:
#1: Prefer to be in a large (no limit to the number of participants) FE Exchange. pirate:
#2: Prefer to be in a small FE Exchange limited to a total of 12 cabins. :flower3:
#3: Have already joined the large (no limit) FE Exchange and would like to be on the waiting list to also be added to the smaller FE Exchange on 4-1-11 until it reaches a total of 12 participating cabins. You would then be participating in BOTH FE Exchanges. :cool2:
#4: Have no desire to participate, even though Deb T. would tell you that the FE Exchange is the highlight of a cruise. ;)

:grouphug:

Deb - all is clear, no questions about your sanity! :thumbsup2 You can add us, please, as #3 to the "waiting list" to the smaller group :rotfl:. I got way too many gifts for FE exchange, so the more = the merrier (of course, IF there is a small group):grouphug:
