April 17, 2011 on the Dream

I just returned home tonight from a 3-night Wonder cruise. We had perfect weather! I ended up booking the 3-night Dream after this 4-night as a potential B2B. Of course, DH is saying, "no way!"... but I've got a little over a year to work on him! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: (Wish me luck!!!!)

We are booked for the 3-day after this 4-day as well. First B2B can't wait, our kids are so excited. I'm paying off a little each month so it's all paid before we even set sail. Tell your DH you'll never have this opportunity again and just think of the onboard credit! Right??!!:yay:

We will probably fly down on Thursday the 14th and fly home on Monday the whatever so that airfare is decent.

This is the first time we've taken a trip since Southwest began flying out of Boston. We've gotten used to Providence-nice small clean airport-but Boston's fare's tend to be lower.

I'm thinking I'm gonna try and rent AKV from a DVC Owner for three nights (fri. & sat. ugh! but at least the points are lower now!) and add the Quick Service Plan (another first!) With 3 boys QS may be a b-a-h-gain for me.

Gotta do a little WDW! 'Cause it's all Harry Potter after the cruise. Yuck! Universal, not Harry Potter. My eldest wants the Hard Rock Hotel, of course, which is more than I want to pay to put my head on a pillow. Decisions, Decision.

I just wanna daydream about being on the cruise, but everything else (DVC, Hard Rock Hotel, and rental cars) are about to open up for our time period. So, its time to make back-up reservations! :wizard:

Today is brought to you by the Number 1!

As in 1 year, 1 week, and 1 day until our Disney Dream Cruise! :tink:

I was in the same dilemna as we had thought about going to Universal or WDW. The only thing, I think my children who I pull out of school in November for WDW usually would die going to a park with Easter Week crowds. Even though the Hard Rock Hotel is a smidge pricey, the front of the line pass makes it a great choice for a time when all the amusement parks will be crazy busy. Just a thought. I think it would be worth the price for the front of the line pass(believe it about $250 per night).

We too are flying in before. Right now, the girls are wanting to do B2B cruises and to lock in a 11B room and lower price, I booked it.... but the decisions have had me going crazy in the past month too!! I have thought Universal was probably a good choice for us as I can't see us flying to Florida just to go there any other time. guess we will just have to see what decisions come to us!

I know you're right, but we're so spoilt from renting DVC that to pay actual deluxe resort prices and 13% tax on top of that! :scared1: Just kills me!

I have those 7 day $84 Universal tickets that I bought last year, so it's not so painful. But, yeah, a vacation w/o some Disney lacks the magic.

We stayed at HRH before our DCL cruise last summer. FOTL rocks and is worth any thing they charge to stay there!!!!!! Did I miss WDW and DVC while there, yes, but we got lucky and were upgraded to a 1br suite due to no concierge rooms being available. So, we had space like DVC, so it worked out. We also had the superbowl promo to get cheaper room rates, so that helped as well. We considered going to USO after the cruise, but as of right now, we're debating between AKV and Hilton Head.

Great minds think alike! You are going to think we are stalking you! We are planning to go down on Thurs and staying at AKV. We own DVC but are a little point deprived for 2011. The AKV standard 2BRs are all I can cover for that time period.

We plan to do Universal after the cruise also. We keep promising the boys so its time to deliver. The boys want to stay at HRH. Number of nights will depend on the airfare. We like Providence airport over Boston but will go with the cheaper. I'm afraid the prices are going to be ugly.

just got our 2010-2011 school year calendar today.

I PICKED THE RIGHT WEEK :) :) :)

yes.... super excited!

Yay!!:yay:

I'll be in the same boat when I book our 2012 spring break cruise later this year. We probably won't have a 2011-12 school calendar by the time the new dates come out. I'm going out on a limb and guessing the week before Easter as it has always been. We'll see, huh?

Our district has issued the 11-12 calendar already!!! They approve 2 years at a time in the even years. So, this year we got 10-11 and 11-12. The board won't vote on any more calendars until 2012, when they'll do 12-13 and 13-14. It really help uber planners like my self!!!!

A small part of me wants to try late seating for dinner this time. My DD is hungry ALL the time either way. I guess I just want to give it a try so I'll know what I like. My DD and I have dinner around 5:45 or so on any given day. So many people seem to like the late seating. For me, I only worry about pirate night. I'll be so full from the late dinner that I won't have room to eat from the pirate buffet. What are most of you doing?

WE do late. We don't eat at home until 7:30 most nights, so this is the one that is most like what we're used to. I wasn't too hungry for the buffet, but i had a few bites. The lines were so long, that it was almost impossible to get more than that anyway.....

Pros and cons... We've done late dining on all but one of our cruises. Overall, we prefer it because it leaves more time during daylight hours to do things, which is especially helpful when planning port excursions. One good thing is that there are plenty of places onboard during the day to get a snack to tide you over until it's time to eat. (We like the french fries from Plutos! ;)) One bad thing is that you're not done eating until around 10pm, which means bedtime is usually on a full stomach. Being too full for the Pirate Night Buffet is definitely a bummer, too.

It's definitely a hard decision... good luck! :goodvibes

 You are stalking me! :rotfl2:

You are so lucky to own. Someday!

The AKV standard 2BRs are all I can cover for that time period.

Apparently I'm not as spoiled as other people! :rolleyes1 We're looking at a value studio this year.

Although I discovered yesterday that renting points has changed with that David guys new internet store. He charges 13 a point which is good for the owners, I'm sure, but honestly I never paid more than 10. And now, I noticed the only renters listing on the DVC/TRADE thread are those owners whose points are ending soon or just want to trade. Paying 13 will already kick my budget out the window, and then you say about Southwest,

I'm afraid the prices are going to be ugly.

Say it ain't so! Another budget cruncher!

Is it like December 8th or 9th that Southwest releases April flights?

Picture me poised at my computer this year, ready to strike! :surfweb:

I hear ya!! Also, going to WDW in midnovember when you dont' need a fastpass for anything sure spoils you too!

Our first trip in '03 was in mid-Nov., my DS's were 5, 6, and 8 and yeah, it was great! Ah, the good 'ole days when the kids were in elementary school and missing a week of school wasn't gonna screw up the whole entire year for them! No more!

A small part of me wants to try late seating for dinner this time.

I did early first cruise as we were early eaters, but found that our 'cruising' timetable preferred the late seating. My kids tend to eat in the clubs anyway.

Speaking of that Ness, Scootch, or anyone else who may be looking for someone to go to Palo's with them, I would really like to go. Every other trip I've taken, I've known other people cruising and went to Palo with them. This is the first time, I'm on my own so to speak. I'm a big fan of Palo's.

Hey, whoever said the Dream was gonna have a new adult restaurant was absolutely correct!

Even about the name Remy

Put together by the Victoria and Alberts people, no less.
