April 12, 2014 Fantasy - Western Caribbean - Calling all Spring Breakers

Hi Cathie, Please add us to the FE group. Thanks for organizing! Dianne

Hello and thank you to the person that started this thread! Our small family (me, hubby, and son who will be 10 when we sail) can't wait to celebrate spring break at sea with you all!

We have cruised once before (Fantasy Eastern June 2012) and are looking forward to our next one. We booked this on opening day.

Will be joining the Facebook group as well. Let the countdown begin!!

Just noticed that the Facebook group is "Open". Not really comfortable with that. If it becomes a closed (invite only) group I would love to join. Otherwise I look forward to chatting with everyone here on the Disboards!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! :wave2: We finally have a thread going!! Woohoo :) I've been checking on/off again and was so excited to see a group! We booked on opening day since it was our Spring Break and we're excited. We also booked Alaska for June 2014 so 2014 should be a big cruise year for us! :cool1: I took my Mom on the Fantasy this past December and can't wait for my guys to experience her too. We did two cruises on the Dream last year and fell in love but there is something extra special about 7 nights at sea!

Going will be myself, my DH and our DS who will be 10 at sailing time. It is also our Spring Break so it will be nice to get away.

Looking forward to getting to know you all! :goodvibes

Hi Heather,

Looks like our families are very similar! We are also a trio..me, my husband, and my son who will also be 10 when we sail.

I haven't actually booked yet, but I have gotten the ok from hubby. I am just being cautious until DH's job interview this week. I want to make sure he'll have enough leave.

This is our first time ever on a cruise, DCL or otherwise. It will be myself, DH, DS (11 at cruise time), and DD (8 at cruise time). This will be our spring break. I'm a type-A planner, so I have already started researching. DH, who once said he would never-ever cruise, is getting in to it. My kids are super-stoked after I showed them pictures of the ship and its amenities online.

Just sent my request to join the Facebook page. Thank you!

Hi!! :wave2: Yep - we sure are ;) When is your son's bday? My DS' is in October so he'll be 10 1/2 (OMG) when we sail. I keep forgetting, I actually get to celebrate *my* bday on this sailing so that's kinda neat too!

He is the beginning of November so they're very close in age! And OMG is right. Time flies...I can't believe how old he is sometimes.
We live in NY and our school cutoff date is 12/31, so he's in 4th grade now.

Yep - very close indeed!! :thumbsup2 In North Carolina, the year my DS started Kindergarten they had just changed the law to where you had to be 5 by the first day of school. He obviously wasn't 5 at the time so we waited it out another year. He had been in preschool so he was "ready" but I had heard too - it's better sometimes to wait and I think it's been a blessing because he was able to mature a little more and it's "easier" now for him. We didn't have a choice but it has worked out well so far. I can't believe he'll be in 4th grade next year!

I just booked this cruise this week while we were on the Dream :cool1: My DS will be 8 when we cruise. I'll send a request now to join the FB group.

Oh my goodness. Just tallied everything up last night so my husband could give me an idea of what kind of stateroom he wanted. We're going with a category 04E. Total cost with insurance (but including flights): $9k+. He about had a coronary. He hasn't looked at any of the pictures and slide shows with me, so I asked him to come see what we were getting for that price. That does not include excursions or souvenirs, so I may have to be frugal there. He asked me to wait until 4/15 to book so he has more time to wrap his head around that price.
I reminded him that we are going at one of the most expensive times of the year, and that we could get a room with a porthole instead of a balcony, but he wants to be able to get out and enjoy some fresh air.

Hi All. My family and I just returned from our very first Disney cruise on the Wonder. We booked this Fantasy cruise just two days into our "wonder-ful" cruise. I'm a teacher in northern VA and we cruise every spring break. My hubby is finally convinced that Disney is the best way to cruise. My son, Deacon will be 3 at the time of the cruise. Luckily my fellow cruisers allowed us to participate in FE for the first time (even though we were late comers) and we had a blast making our gifts. Participating was an extra special touch to our disney cruise experience. Everyone was so creative and thoughtful in their exchanges. Although, we didn't get to meet anyone in person during the cruise. I definitely want to participate in the FE again and would love to get together at some point during the next voyage. I'll see if I can find the group on FB...hopefully April 2014 will arrive quickly!

Welcome to all who have recently joined our group. I have updated the roll call. So far it looks like we have 7 families for the FE and 12 families on the cruise and hopefully My2Qtz0205 and family will join us.

There has been some activity lately on the facebook group so come over and join us if you haven't already.

Cathie

Welcome to the new cruisers!! :dance3: We can now say next April we will be on the Fantasy! We can't wait! :cool1:

Take care,
Heather

Hey all! :wave2: I re-booked on my last Fantasy cruise December 1st. :boat: I adored this ship! We were actually able to upgrade at the port to concierge! It was a BIG mistake. I am spoiled now! But we booked room 10100. Hoping to upgrade again! Mainly because it will be right next door to the tween club (yes, I am an overprotective Mom)

It will be my 12 year old daughter at time of sailing, my Mom and I.

Is there an Fish Extender Exchange list yet? I was hoping to get in on that.

Thanks!
Jen

DH and I did this cruise last July for our honeymoon...now we are bring the whole family 3 DSs (17)(15)(turns 15 last day of cruise). Hoping that there will be lots of teens on the cruise to keep them occupied. So excited to return to the Fantasy!!! :cool1:
