April 11th 2009 Magic Eastern Easter cruise--UPDATED WITH ROLL CALL PG 1

Hello, all!

I just found this Forum and can't wait to read all the posts!

My DS (age 16), DD (age 14) and I will be on the April 11 Magic sailing. I'm trying to find the time/location of the meet & greet and also the info on what type of sailaway outfit people are wearing. pirate:

But I'm headed to Home Depot today for my paint chips, LOL!

We are from the Fredericksburg VA area and will stay the night before at the MCO Hyatt Regency.

Welcome, Nancy! We (me, DM and DS nearly 8) will be staying at the Hyatt Regency on Friday night as well. We're flying in from Los Angeles. See you soon!

Amy

6 days to Orlando / 7 days to Disney Magic :wizard:

Welcome Nancy! We are from the Hampton Roads area! There are several girls cruising that are your DD's age and a few boys the same age as your DS so they should all have a great time in The Stack!

Welcome also to floridacruiser14 - Another family full of girls! Maybe our DH's can hang out together!

Slowly coming along here. Luggage is out, FE gifts are done, (FE not made yet though), found bathing suits, now just have to get it all in the suitcases.

Cruising fun - I am jealous of your girls' night out! I want one. I am hoping to get the ladies (who are also cruising on the Magic) together so we can have a little pow-wow before the trip! PPFQP - hint, hint!

I hope everyone is feeling less stressed and will take Willie's advice to heart. Just remember to pack your cruise docs, passports, money and bathing suits! Life is really good and is about to get even better! I love the smell of Florida! For those of you that live there, just so you know, it smells so different than up here! And, I cannot wait to see palm trees! Deep breath! I can smell the warm weather already!

One more week!!!!

Welcome Nancy! I just wanted to take a break from organizing from the trip and send out a thank you. I don't remember who suggested Shirley from the Perfect Gift for stateroom deliverys....but THANK YOU! I just got off the phone with them and they were wonderful. They were creative and very willing to cutomize my basket. I am surprising my parents with some flowers, treats, and wine and the price was great! SO again...whoever mentioned here awhile back...THANK YOU!

Nancy and family - Welcome!! We are glad you are sailing with us!

One week left!!! I can't believe it.:goodvibes

Welcome Nancy! ONE WEEK TO GO! Although stress levels are off the wall we will make it through.

oatmealdiva- When are you flying in? I assume we both have a full day of flying sice we are both coming from all the way across the U.S! Go for the Cali girls! :cool1:

Just checking to see how everyones doing! See you all soon!

Question for you DCL veterans...I filled out the registration form for my daughter online for the Oceaneers Club. Do I need to print anything off to show Disney that I did this or do they just check their computer?

Sorry...I have another question for those who have sailed before....

I was just reorganizing my packing list and reviewed that wonderful packing list someone posted recently. I noticed the list had gifts for the counselors at the kids club. Are gifts the usually "thank you" rather than a tip? If so what type of gifts are you thinking? Also, if tipping is better how much do you suggest and about how many counselors are there?

Thanks for the help...I am just trying to be prepared!

FYI, most people do not do this but if you do a small token would be perfect. Candy, gift cards, etc. Any cash must be split but something specifically to them does not. In the club & lab there are about 12 counselers, in Ocean Quest 3-4.

Nancy _ Welcome Aboard. Remember

VIRGINIA IS FOR LOVERS....OF CRUISING.

Wait till you see this years shirts (and leis...oops there goes my secret)

CruisingFun - 1. You are welcome. Shirley is simply the best in the biz. Glad she hooked you up as she did me

2. No, you do not need to print out anything. Its all in the computer. Just remember to give the password to anyone you have on your sign-out list.

3. Gifts to the counselors are normally gift cards or candy. Cash is not the norm. We have left big bags of M&Ms, Snickers, etc. Welcomed Gift Cards are usually Walmart or Target. As Kelli stated unless you put a specific name on a gift it is shared equally among the counselors.

Hey Nancy -- I have 2 DD's that are 14 (twins)! They would love to meet another girl their age. We are also from Virginia (Hampton Roads area though).

Glad you found us! See you soon!

I'm there, baby! Say when and where. Except tonight. Because we are taking my girlies out to celebrate their birthday at Otani. (For those not familiar with Virginia Beach, it is a hibachi steak house where they cook on the table.) Their bday is Tuesday and of course their main celebration is a CRUISE, but we had to do something special for them to celebrate with their friends.

We are using Shirley as well - she is so fabulous. Just so nice and thoughtful and creative and professional. I ordered bday baskets for my dd's and I just know they will be wonderful. We have used Shirley before - for our RCCL cruise in Dec. 2007 and my parents used her to send us flowers and gifts when we sailed DCL in 2005.

I think I remember that a gift must specifically be labeled with their name (ie a gift card or candy or token) and literally written ON the item, or it goes in to a pool to be shared with all of the counselors. Maybe post something on the main board to get details. I seem to remember reading about it previously.

Big Willie -That's what all of us Virginians need! "VA is for Lovers" T-shirts!!!! Of course, they are really cheap in this neck of the woods! Might have to "cruise the strip" and check out some of the shops!

Excellent! I know my DD would love meeting your two! I plan on not seeing my kids for a week -- they love the teen club so much.

Thanks!

Welcome Nancy -

My DS is also 16 and my DD is 14.

Can't wait to meet everyone!

sdzm,PPFQP,Nancy- My DD is also 14 and loves meeting other people. I plan on not seeing her all week either, except when she plays bingo with my mom, pin trading, and dinner. I dont no if you already do this or not but one thing we do is we all carry around small walkie talkies, then I know where she is and she can reach us if needed. Our past 2 cruises it has helped us alot! Just an idea if you wanted some advice.

We're going to bring our walkie talkies, but I'm not sure how well they will work. I have heard that there is a lot of interference on the ship. One thing I LOVED on our RCCL cruise was that you could rent these DECT phones for $25/week. They were just like cell phones, but you could also call places on the ship with them. So you could call to different staterooms, call for reservations, call for room service or the front desk, etc., but you could also call other phones. They were very handy on that cruise and I wish Disney would offer something similar.

Funny...I just put new batteries in our walkie talkies. They're packed and ready to go in the camera bag.

We finished all of our magnets tonight! They look great. I just need to stop procrastinating and make the dang FE!!! Tomorrow...for sure!!

Really? We didnt have any interfereance on our last cruise, we just found a channel and if some one else was on it e just swtiched to a new one. Disney and RCCL were both great to use them for, never had problems. Hopefully this time will be the same.
