April 11th 2009 Magic Eastern Easter cruise--UPDATED WITH ROLL CALL PG 1

Aunt T to 2- Sounds like you will have a great time.

It's seems like there will be lots of girls on the ship. Any boys? My DSs are 15 and 10.

Wow, I can't believe we are only 5 weeks away!!!

I have three sons Grumpymom! Ages 8, just turned 11 and 12. Two will be in Ocean Quest, one in the Lab

:cool1: This is my first Disney Cruise and first vacation with my Sis in a long time! I am way too excited to be spending it with my 2 neices (13 & 9) and the other families...never been so glad to be a 5th wheel!

Hey, I know who you are!!! You know you are "Aunt" to more than 2!!! My girls, especially my 9 year old, considers you an aunt!!!! We are soooo glad you are a 5th wheel too!!! I'll meet you at the adult pool, drink in hand!!! Can't wait, Aunt T!!!!!

To Grumpymom73 and Kellimomo3 (and other "boy" moms) - My DD's have no problems with making friends with boys! Although we are a girl family, we welcome boys (I always wanted one!). I have 3 nephews and a four-legged "son", so we are partial to boys too!!! Yes, there are a lot of girls going on this trip, but one of the families we are with has a DS 14 (almost 15). Yup, he is the only boy....lucky devil!!!!

anybody have any hints on how to get the upgrade. I checked and we are assigned to a basement room. at least we will be on board.

35 DAYS WOO HOOO!!!!

Anjiellisvt - No hints on how to upgrade, but you could call and see what else is available. What deck are you on, 1 or 2? Are you traveling with kids old enough to roam the ship alone? I was prepared to be on Deck 2 but I don't think I'd be comfortable with them going to Deck 1 alone. Deck 2 has a lot of rooms, so I'd be ok with that, but Deck 1 does not have many rooms, so I would have asked to be moved. I've heard that you can check to see what kind of upgrades are available when checking in at the terminal. If any are available, you would have to pay, but it could be cheap. I was thinking of checking into an inside and outside room instead of two inside rooms. Not sure how that works, but I've read about a few folks doing that. It can't hurt to call and ask..... The good new is that you must be a Cat. 9 or 10 if you are Deck 1!

I just checked our reservations and we have cat 6 rooms! I am very excited to sit out on the verandah with my glass of wine!

Speaking of wine....I know they have a wine package you can purchase but can you bring your own bottles on board? And if so has anyone brought their own corkscrew? Obviously since we are flying I can't put on in my carry on, but I was wondering if I should try stowing one away in my luggage. Any tips on doing this or not doing this from those of you who are experienced with DCL?

5 WEEKS TO GO......I bought one last bottle of suntan lotion today....ready to pack and hit the seas!!!!!

Cruising fun - Were you upgraded to Cat. 6? If so, congrats! I guess you are on Deck 6 too.

Yes, bring your own wine! It is allowed!! In the Passporter, one traveler had a tip to pack wine in bubble wrap and put it in a plastic shoe container. I think they were able to fit two bottles in the box. After they drank the wine, they put their souveniers in the box for the journey home. Then their purchases made it home safely. When are you flying in? Will you have time to buy wine and a corkscrew before you check in the terminal? If not, bring the wine from home and I will bring a corkscrew for you. We are driving so we don't have that issue. If you ask Disney to open wine for you, it will cost $18/bottle. (I read that somewhere! All this info was either in the Passporter or I read it online!)

Have a drink for me on your verandah! (We don't have one!) Bottoms up!

I glad to hear there will be some boys sailing with us and some girls that are the same age too! I'm sure my DS15 will be especially happy to hear about all the girls.:rolleyes1

I know we were late booking so a lot of people had already booked excursions. I was just wondering if any of you were able to book the banana boat ride on CC? It wasn't listed when I tried to book our excursions the other day. Is it not offered anymore or was it just all booked up?

Sorry Everyone havent been able to get on here in a few days.
I'm sure both my daughters would love to meet new friends. I know my 14 year old met a friend on the last cruise and they still talk all the time. The five year old is sooo exited! :] btw my 14 is in freshman in high school and 5 year old is in kindergarten.
The whole family is counting down the days. My five year old told me today "mommy how much more time till we leave I NEED a vacation!" ahah dont we all. AS far as our room number we havent gotten it yet or if we are upgraded. We are patiently waiting.
two questions:
1)Is anyone planning on doing fish extenders? I think it would be really good and cute idea for all of us.
2) Is anyone on here planning on meeting anytime during the cruise?

I may be getting mixed up with another cruise line, but I think you can NOT bring a corkscrew on board. I think your stateroom attendant will bring you one if you ask for it.
When we went on our cruise in 2005, my dh had a leatherman tools in his CHECKED luggage. It was confiscated at the port -- they left a note in his suitcase that we got when our bags were delivered to the stateroom, and he got it back after we got back to Port Canaveral. We'd brought it because it has a corkscrew as one of it's many features. (It's sort of like a big Swiss Army Knife.) Anyway, that's why I am thinking that you can't.
If you bring the bottle wine to the dining room, they will charge you a corkage fee. If you ask the stateroom attendant for wine glasses, they will bring them to you, so just put the wine into your glass and take it to dinner if you want.

It's not offered any more. I think they stopped it last spring. :sad2:

There's been some talk about the fish extenders, but nothing officially organized (that I know of).

I think it would be fun to arrange a meeting of some sort, especially so kids could meet up. On our past cruises, my girls have always enjoyed making friends with other kids and it helps to have a point of introduction. It seems like groups often plan something for shortly before sailaway. On our last Disney cruise (this was a while ago -- 2005), we arrived late and weren't able to make the dis meet.)

I thought I had read that some time ago, but then when I looked through the Shore Excursion booklet DCL sent it was still in there. Maybe the booklets are just old. ;)

As far as a meet, my idea would be to try to meet up in the port. This is our fourth cruise and we have only actually made one of the scheduled DIS meets. Once you get on board there is so much to do and you are being pulled everywhere by your fam in those first couple hours. If we all gathered on the side of the Magic replica facing the boarding ears at 11:00ish, does that work? I now some won't be there that early but at least it's a start. Someone else could also organize one for onboard I just thought I would suggest this.

Sounds good to me. We are planning to be there early, and it will give us a way to pass the time until we actually get on board! But ... to be fair ... how many people won't be able to make it early and want to schedule something later?

Or bring screw-top wine bottles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HA!!!!!!! (PPFQP is the knower of everything Disney so don't listen to anything I say!!!!!!!!!) I looked in the Passporter and yes, there is a corkage fee in the dining rooms but you can bring your own glass to dinner occasionally. It makes me feel better that they do confiscate stuff like that. A lot has changed see we cruised last - it was pre-9/11/01.

Hey, I know who you are too!! You are Jasmine's mom! I love that little Jasmine and can't wait to hang with them all! Even looking more forward to hangin by the pool with drink in hand with you. Sis forwarded one of Pam's daily countdown/updates regarding Disney's how to make a milkshake video...I had to laugh! Leave it to Disney to even be so accomodating as an adult milkshake! Reading these posts, sounds like everyone is equally pumped up and a lot of fun! Can't wait to meet everyone!

We will not be flying in until Saturday morning . . . scheduled to land at noon. We would not be able to meet before the cruise but would be interested in meeting at a later time.

I have a 14 (almost 15) dd and my ds is 16.

CAN'T WAIT TO CRUISE! :) :)

My DD 15 is also a freshman in high school. My DD 4 is a few days too young to start kindergarten next year. She has an Oct. birthday.

Yes, we plan on having a fish extender. It will be fun to fill them around the boat. Yes, we would like to meet everyone. At the terminal is fine with us, or if we want another one later, some folks have gotten together after lunch but before the drill. It was suggested that one of the lounges was easier to meet in than by one of the pools. I guess one group had a meet by the goofy pool and it was raining......yikes! I had read the Promenade Lounge was a good place to meet. We are up for anything. Some folks had matching Dis'er lanyards so folks could "recognize" each other during the cruise. It would be great if we had a way to recognize one another.

We are going to be there early, i am assuming that day. It would be great to meet everyone. Its so close we all cant wait. The fish extenders, as far as that goes, this will be our second disney cruise we didnt do one the first time but we are hoping to do one this time but i need ideas of how this works. I tend to be slow at understanding these things. :rotfl2:
